...figures...
well this looks familar, make sure all your drivers are up to date and I mean check them dont just waffle about "im sure they are" lol because ive done that and i was wrong.
and do a repair just in case (launcher/game repair i mean).
"figures" as hard as it is to hear not everything is cryptics fault, Ive been playing just fine.

Driver updates do not correct poor/improper code in games. If anything they further expose broken code from the incompetent cryptic devs.
Every time I load the game it goes as far as the character selection screen. when I click "play" it shows the loading screen then just crashes. it worked fine until this new iconian war update. a feedback window pops up and asks to describe what i was doing when it crashed but that window just closes when the game does after about 3 seconds. i dont know how to fix it.

*sigh* people like you are useless you're all ***** and no brain, seriously it isn't impossible for something to not be the devs fault, if it was then why the heck are so many people able to play, you know games are a two way street, client and user. sometimes it the client other times its the user sometimes both. which is why i check as much as I can on my end (user) before assigning blame on anyone.
You should try using your brain although I suppose a majority of the time and based on your posts your too busy trolling to be any use to anyone so meh.

hmm what GPU and CPU are you using?
because as many have stated we're doing fine so it could be your hardware isnt up to date, alternatively files can get corrupted during patches so its possible not everything was downloaded completely so try doing a file check/repair on the launcher you may have some missing files. I find it odd that it would CTD so im pretty sure its a missing file issue.
OK I have this problem in TWO cryptic Games now, here and in Neverwinter, unless drivers have been released yesterday or today, they ARE up to date. so clearly it's something that happened to the Games

clearly, because nobody else is playing the game right now either /sarcasm
the post above mine concerning safe mode is a decent bet.
and it is actually true that DX11 is buggy (not just in STO).
and contrary to popular belief no cryptic did not create DX11 lol so you cant give them **** for it.
Im having the same issue. Ive tried uninstalling and re installing, Ive checked my drivers, Ive run every kind of performance optimizer Ive got, but it still crashes on the loading screens every time. I just looked at the link above and I saw nothing at all about fixing a bug that is preventing the game from playing.
Also, about this "safe mode" you guys are talking about, I always crash on the "Iconian war" title page, so that would be before there's a "Safe mode" option. Got any other ideas?
Is there a way to affect my direct x options from outside of the game?
I dont see in those patch notes were there going to fix that issue..
if you had taken any time at all to look at it. the very very very 1st thing on the list was. and this was copy and paste. if you don't believe me you may want to go and read it this time.
General:
Resolved an issue which would occasionally cause maps to crash.

Stage 4 - re-launch/login as usual, once at the char selection screen you can maximize the window for normal play.
Stage 5 - Un maximize the window before quiting.
That *SHOULD* solve the 'crash on logo load screen' problem.

DX11...is buggy. It has always been buggy. Some times it's far buggier than normal.
Never play in DX11 mode. You're playing with fire.
