....where is it? No, I'm not complaining, this isn't a complaint thread, and for the moment I don't see any other complaints about lag either. But I am curious as to what happened. Did Cryptic fix something? It's not just idle curiosity. The more we know, the better we can handle the next time it comes back.
And on the other side of the token, today has been the first time I have ever had lag/rubber-banding in all the months that others were complaining about it.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
...actually I either spoke too soon or jinxed it, because I just got kicked out of the game and now I can't get back in. So I guess the lag isn't gone, it's still going, very, very strong.
For the first time since beginning of Feb iv had a lag free afternoon,,,,:) well one run had a little, KV, but no line dancing star ship anymore.,,,,,fingers x it will stay like this. Even the CLR is working proper.
The only lag I'm experiencing right now is that I have to wait about 5 seconds before I can interact with an object, be it a console, bank, exchange or a generator in the Voth Ground Battlezone. Nothing game braking for me.
No lag lately. For some reason when I saw the title I thought of Humphrey Bogart sitting in a chair and rolling steel marbles in his hand saying:
'Ah, but the lag, that's, that's where I had them, they laughed at me and made jokes, but I proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, with geometric logic, that the lag did exist, and I'd have proved it if they did not take the Server out of action by patching it. I, I know now they were just trying to protect some fellow Dev.'
'But to be logical is not to be right', and 'nothing' on God's earth could ever 'make it' right!'
Judge Dan Haywood
'As l speak now, the words are forming in my head.
l don't know.
l really don't know what l'm about to say, except l have a feeling about it.
That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'
Worst lag for me is when I login (usually around 0400-0500 UT), especially if my start-up character happens to be in a social zone. Then, I have to wait nearly a full minute before everything on-screen even displays fully (colored polygons were cool when I was still tripping...). I don't even try to move my character, because I have no directional control, and rubberbanding starts immediately. If I weren't so frustrated with the whole exercise, watching others' characters freeze in mid-stride would be almost humorous.
Even if I spawn in space, there's nothing quite immersion-busting as watching my ship rubberband on the area map while flying at maximum warp. In addition, any GUI button at all can take a very long time to actuate, depending where my character happens to be at the time. Last night I happened to be at ESD claiming the Delta rewards for Iconian objectives, and each button took nearly a minute to complete the claim cycle!
