I rolled a Delta Recruit recently and went science as I don't have a Klingon Science yet. Mainly due to the lack of science ships the KDF have.
I was hoping some of the members here would have a suggestion or two for a good set-up (skills and traits) for a solid science officer. I went Liberated Borg Klingon with my science officer.
Also what ship would you guys recommend? Currently she is flying a T5-U Peghqu' Heavy Destroyer as I felt it was better than anything else I had available for science. I do have a Temporal Science in my bank, but I am hesitant to unpack it currently. Looking for alternatives first.
Thanks in advanced.

Mine has the fleet Varanus and hte Breen carrier. If you want to go traditional Klingon, I recommend Bird of Prey, since you can put sci boffs into the universal Cmdr and Lt Cmdr slots
I'll post mine's skill and traits later when I get home from work
If you're looking for a real science analog to the Fedside science gameplay, the Temporal Science Ship is the ultimate choice. You have to be REALLY special to mess up in that ship. Voth Palisade is a very solid Science ship (Norgh-level high-rank seating options) if you don't mind something non-KDF.
Now, if you want to try something different, I would suggest the B'Rel retrofit. BoPs make good science ships because of their flexibility in BOff seating, and the B'Rel adds the Enhanced Battle Cloak, letting you cast your science magic from cloak.
I used to fly around in a Vet Destroyer for a long while with my Liberated Borg Klingon Science Captain.:)
While the ship was not ideal for science it was a very solid ship and was as close to my ideal for a scout Raptor as was possible at the time.
When the DSDs came out I tried the free version and actually liked it.
Depends on the PoV but I was either brave of foolish enough to purchase the 3-Pack and really, really enjoyed the TAC version.
And since it is now possible to use faction-specific skins on the DSDs
The Fek'lhr carrier is what I was looking into when toying around with the idea of a new KDF sci. How it performs I can't say but with so few other faction-specific options it might be worth trying.

Any captain class can work well anywhere. The issue is if the player knows what the captain class offers and how that improves whatever ship they give that captain. You might be surprised with certain captain & ship mixes and how they mesh well together. For example, my ENG characters bring overabundant Subsystem Power and some emergency heals, something that gives tremendous strength to Escorts. TACs? They work well anywhere and they actually are better for Science Exotic Dmg / Particle Generator based builds than SCIs are.
BoP can be a fun little hybrid sci-escort sort of ship with little difficulty. You're never going to out-science a Vesta or anything, but those universals can easily set up for something like Cmdr Sci / LtCmdr Tac / Lt Sci and bring a lot of science abilities to a fight while still bringing respectable firepower. Hegh'ta can do it for free, B'rel can do it under enhanced battle cloak, or a Fleet Norgh gets dual LtCmdrs. Its different to fly, but entertaining, and why roll an alt if not to do something differently?
My KDF science captain flies the T5u B'rel BoP Retrofit. It's universal Boff stations makes it very versatile and I already had the ship anyway since my 1st KDF tactical captain flies that ship.
I was thinking about the KDF Dyson Science Destroyer a while back, but I read there was an issue with the Boff stations so I stopped considering it. Another ship I have been considering is the Tal Shiar Adapted Battlecruiser because it has pretty decent Boffs stations, a cloak and sensor analysis. The drawback is the turn rate of only 7, but the ship is still up for consideration.
There is speculation that the 2015 Risa Summer Event may reward a T6 science vessel. It will not have a cloaking device, but if it is true then it should be a very desirable ship for KDF and Romulan science captains.
I've rolled Sci captains in the Varanus, the B'rel, the Hegh'tah, and the Vo'quv, and I have to recommend the Vo'Quv. Because it's a carrier. The other ships feel like you're wasting an ability (dampening field) as it usually gets used in conjunction with photonic fleet. As the carrier has built-in adds, this is not an issue. Carrier feels like the ship best suited to Science, though I'll admit using the consoles from the Gorn ships often in conjunction with the Vo'Quv.
Honestly.. either a Vo'kov carrier. (get the fleet version if you can swing it) (fighters are fun especially when you running very advanced fighters.. teamed up with a sci captain and some carefully selected BOFF sci powers (strongly recommend a sci BOOF with photonic officer in the commander skill slot).
ships weps.. Honestly.. if you can swing it..360 beam mounts. They're crafted. DOn't worry about TAC consoles.. you main battery are your fighters/bop's.
Go gravity well and T-rift a target, and then let the little boys nibble it to death. Don't worry.. they're fast eaters!
If your a ROM KDF aligned..Fleet Vet DD if you can swing it. Best combat sjip for a sci captain in the game evit if power allocation is a bit of a bear.
@majesticmsfc: My main KDF Sci is also a Liberated Borg (because toasting everyone with radiation just seems more thematically appropriate that way) who's currently flying a Korath.
Like you, I spent ages agonising over whether to unbox this 180M EC investment which is no longer even a top-tier ship; hence, his first six months after L50 were spent in a Dyson destroyer. Which is a decent ship, but unfortunately fatally bugged at the moment (apparently, Cdr powers now lock to the BOff's default).
IMO, any KDF ship with >= Lt Cdr Sci is a good option; the B'rel is a standout because it can use its EBC to deploy sci powers while only briefly breaking cloak. The Pegh'qu is really a souped-up version of the DSD in Destroyer mode so could work if you want to mix it.
"Pure" sci ships have a massive advantage now in their ability to slot a secondary deflector, and these can come with some murderous bonuses. Carrier, by contrast, suffer from the general nerfing of older pets.
So, in pure sci terms, with the DSD bugged, you've got the Varanus or the Korath. The Varanus is a workable ship but a bit mediocre in itself; its limitations were one reason I eventually mothballed my previous themed Gorn sci alt.
But - you have a Korath. A pure sci ship with a free T5U upgrade, cracking Klingon looks, great BOff flexibility and unmatched maneuverability. Unbox it and fly it, you won't regret it. I certainly didn't. Plus, given all the temporal-shenanigan theming of the Delta recruits, what more appropriate ship could there be?
I might buy the next time there is a ship sale. Unless the KDF gets a real T6 science vessel or if the 2015 Risa Summer Event will reward a science vessel.
Thank you all for your responses. I need to get back into the game and decided what to do. Korath is the obvious choice, I do have the token for the Kar'fi and Klingon carrier. The problem with carriers is I am not a big fan of pets, and carriers aren't true science ships. My aim is to try and roll a true science officer, which we all know is kind of hard thanks to the lack of the ship line Cryptic has given (neglected) us.
I was away for a few days and stuck in floods and cyclone category 2 winds, so haven't had a chance to look at this any further. Back now and updating the 7GB season 10.
