Failed Assignments auto-acknowledged.

phreskophresko Member Posts: 56 Arc User
When I started playing failed DOFF assignments would go to the completed list just like successful ones and I would have to acknowledge the results. A few weeks ago I notice that some assignments were missing and also thought it odd that I hadn't failed an assignment for a while. Checking the assignment log (something I had not a habit of doing) I found that those missing assignments were failed missions and they were being automatically acknowledged. I thought this might be a change and just adapted to checking the log more often.

Since I have started my Delta recruits I noticed that for a while I was actually seeing failed assignments in the completed list. I began to wonder if there was a setting that I inadvertently changed on my main but I could not find it. Soon after my DRs were not seeing failed assignment like my main.

Anyone else experience this? Is there a setting or a work around? I would rather see my failed assignments in the completed list.

Wow. Thanks for pointing this out. I had always assumed I was simply lucky with my Delta Recruit since I thought I never failed a mission yet. Checking the assignment log told me otherwise. I was essentially sending all my doffs to their deaths with almost every assignment that had a disaster rate of >3%.

It would be nice if failed assignments weren't auto completed so we can tell which assignments failed or passed.

Yeah, the auto-acknowledgement of any assignments that have no rewards is extremely annoying and inconvenient, especially since the assignment log seems to have no obvious logic to its ordering.

    It's a bug.

And yeah, the assignment lists (in-progress/completed/log) not being sorted in chronological order anymore is very annoying.

Agreed. They need to fix these things. But they likely won't. They fix what they want to fix, seemingly.

However, it's apparently working as intended. (click)
Any mission that does not generate rewards (typically a Failure or Disaster) will currently clean itself up automatically when the timer completes. The reason this occurs was a result of a code change to an adjacent system, and was not intentional.

We have every intention of bringing back the "Acknowledge Report" functionality, but priorities have drawn our Software engineers elsewhere. Hopefully this can be addressed in the near future.

It's not working as intended, but because it's basically just an annoyance they have more important things to do.

anyways, you can still read the report, you just have to open the log.

The problem is that because the order of the log is arbitrary and inconsistent, there is no way to be certain which of the assignments in the log were the ones that most recently completed. If you run a lot of assignments, you pretty much either have to remember the contents of the assignment log and try to spot the new entry from memory, or catch a failed assignment as it happens.

I did notice that I have been getting more "Sick Bay" missions, but no failure acknowledgements. I'm not surprised that the number of sick bay missions has gone up, given that a less-experienced DOff crew will naturally have more failures. On the plus side, it accelerates the Medical commendation nicely! :o

the log doesn't track back very far. maybe 48 hours, if that. So you wouldn't need to sift through too much.

I remember that before the doff UI revamp, new log entries displaced old ones in a first-in, first-out manner, but there was no time limit to how long an entry could stay in the log. I filed a bug report about this last year.

This was the worst change implemented with the S9.5 doff UI changes. Whomever thought that an alphabetical order was better than least to most time to completion didn't think through what that would mean for the assignments log tab which only holds 16 assignments versus the 23 you can queue up and complete.

On the other hand, when it comes to Accolades, they threw the alphabet out the window and decided to follow some random wild skipping alphabetical order that doesn't make sense, and makes it a pain to keep tabs on what accolades you've completed.

Unfortunately, the devs don't pay attention to either of these issues or others like it. Heck, they have two S6 and two Exp 2 leveling accolades stuck for everyone. It was a miracle they fixed the Inspired accolade with S10 after much complaining, and it took months of complaining also until Borticus asked the team to fix the horrific assignment and R&D completion wait times.

P.S. - I still think the RNG is a bit messed up with the Asylum assignments with the crit chance vs the success one. It tends too heavy on giving blue doffs versus purple ones percentage wise, but I've had that complaint also since S6 and even with data, it fell on deaf ears. Before S6, it worked fine.

The duty officer assignment log isn't sorted in alphabetical order for me. I suspect that it's actually sorted by the internal ID of the assignments. That would explain why multiple instances of the same assignment show up next to each other, even though the order isn't quite alphabetical.

Accolades could also be sorted by internal ID. On the other hand, they could just be listed in whatever order they were entered into the system. In my opinion, the "Accolades" tab should have a search function.
