No. Like others have said, I'm to invested in my existing chars to put them on ice now.

That, and because I'm so spoiled by the Zefram Cochrane Shotgun that I can't function without it.

So many special things, ships, doffs, devices and other items that I simply will never be able to obtain on my new alts that I've not had the intensive to make any new ones until now - only because they benefit my existing chars. (On a side note, are we ever going to see another FE rerun?)

Unless I could transfer literally EVERYTHING from one of my chars to an alt, including but not limited to bound/unique items, accolades, ships and traits, I'd never replace my main.

Mine will never reach main status. I already have 3 I consider my mains. As I play them the most. Fed, KDF, and Romulan. I also have 3 lower level alts to play. So my recruit is below them. So I doubt I will get them leveled up in a long time.

If I do. Only thing I will get them up on gear. Is the Andorian weaponry from the dil store. So the ship will have that.

Only because I was already looking to shift from a fed main to some sort of rom main.

I already had a rom-fed I was working on towards that purpose; I'm not convinced I should replace that with my delta recruit.

Yeah, my main dilithium slaves. Until gamma recruits come along of course (you know it's happening).

Somewhat tempted but darn, toons take a lot of work and as others have said I just can't see throwing away all that work.

I'll definitely keep playing my DR, as this was something fun and different I had wanted to try for a long while. Main, though? Not happening. Spec points, purchases worth hundreds of thousands in fleet credit (either the devs have no idea how hard it can be to scrounge up sufficient credit in a developed fleet, or it's another massive timesink), a couple of lockbox traits that are priced in tens of millions nowadays... yeah, no, not happening.

Maybe in a few years when powercreep and nerf cycles have made everything current obsolete.

    NO.

This game makes Everquest look like "Hello Kitty". if i play only the content i enjoy it would take me 1 month to get 1 level...i need about 70 of them so...Unless Cryptic reduced the insane amounts of grind i won't be making any alts anytime soon.

God no, while I took time to make the character the Delta Recruit is going to be another doff money making assistant. My main is staying my only character I put effort into and until this game becomes alt-friendly again, the others will be pretty much left as they are.

I no longer do any Bug Hunting work for Cryptic. I may resume if a serious attempt to fix the game is made.

My new Fed recruit will probably never completely replace the character I feel is my main (also a Fed Vulcan Sci, btw).

But I've already spent more time working on my recruit's bio and imagining what a fully-realized Joined Trill would be like in this game. All those reputation traits, ship mastery traits, and specializations... when I reach that point I'm going to pretend he was like that all along, with several lifetimes of experience under his belt. No small wonder he's able to become a Fleet Admiral in a year.

    And he will.

    Copying much? :P

On topic, main probably no, usable yes. Had a set of Acc x3 phaser arrays I don't use, a decent battle cruiser to use them with. Maybe trying the sci-escort sometime in the future, tacs are too mainstream.

If specs were account wide, I'd see things a whole lot better for alts.

    No.

I have too much time and Zen invested in my main, to do that.

Once I have all the rewards and all the Dilithium from the Reps, they will either be deleted, or used as a mule/storage until the next event of this type.

Though I may remake my Romulan into a KDF, to replace my Rom/Fed and KDF Talaxian...

As much as i have grown to like my DR Saurian Captain, it would be insane to make him my main character.
I decided to focus on only one character (which is more than enough work imo) and have some others be "battle ready" for special events. My DR will be part of my task force but nothing more.

Already have, I was growing dissatisfied with my main even before delta recruitment and had already built his replacement the week before the DR was announced.

My delta recruit hasn't gone anywhere near catching up yet, but he'll get there.

And as I've said above I'd rather use my time on my main and make her even more capable of contributing to the team and helping them out... then wasting time on a recruit and being a drain on the team.

You seem confused, as you are calling the idea that the reputation system is optional 'white knight rubbish,' but are arguing against people going into advanced queue's with white gear. Maybe you think they're the same thing?

Try to understand that you can finish, and even contribute acceptable DPS, without bothering to do any reputation content right and that is why people call it optional. By the same token, you can obtain any gear and do any mission content in game without completing a single STF on advanced, so Advanced STF's can also be considered optional.

I hope this clears up your confusion and that you contribute something relevant the next time the topic of reputations, or STFs, arise.

Why should I want to? I view my DR Recruits as a chance to revisit "the road not taken". Fun, sure. Enjoyable, yes. But unless something changes, I see no reason why I should play either of them diligently after this Event is over. Not going to park or delete them. But I have spent too much time with my other chars to simply switch. I only have seven total characters anyways. Including my Delta Recruits. Most of the time I primarily play just two of my characters. They are the ones I have the most fun with and they will continue to be the ones which get the majority of my playing time. The Delta Recruits will probably be trotted out from time to time for such things a the Winter Event or for Dilithium farming.

While I understand that the "time spent together" through leveling can create an emotional bond of sorts , that's more likely to happen to folks who have not leveled any toons for quite a while .

In my case , having leveled 3 since DR (and 20+ in the last 5+ years) , that didn't really happen unfortunately .
Well that ... , and as many other's have stated , it's unpractical at this point ... , unless you're a newcomer to STO .
(I don't think that now is a bad time to start playing . It's a bad time in general due to all the nerfs & control freak attitudes , but that's another story.)

So back at the end of Beta I wanted to be all true to the idea of Star Trek and made my first character a Vulcan scientist. He lasted up until STFs came along and the shortcomings of the science class in PVE were exposed.

That's a curious statement , as one of the old STF's (The Cure) had a ground Boss (Armek of Borg) that at one point could not be defeated without a Sci-Medic .

... sure there was the sniping from the top right corner , but that didn't work all the time ...
