Best Fed ship or pack for engineer?

What would be the best T5-U or T6 ship or ship pack to use as a Delta Engineer at level 60, doesn't matter if it's Cruiser , Escort ( since I use the Phantom with my Tactical ) or science ship. Only ships I really don't like are carrier's. I originally wanted to do cruisers with this toon but the turn rate is killing me as I am use to escorts with my Tac toon. Are escorts good for a engineer or would cruisers be the best option?

    Hrmmmmm......great question.

I think Engineers are great in cruisers and Escorts, so take your pic. If I were to limit it to lockbox ships, the Ugly Kobali ships are much like an Excelsior, are T6 and have a decent trait...

    Just a quick thought.

The Command Ships are great, but they're flight deck carriers.. meaning they do have 1 hangar bay.

If that's a deal breaker for you, then I would look at either the Guardian or the Andromeda T6 ships. Either should fit your needs, the Guardian has a better Science Station, the Andromeda has the better engineering stations.

The Guardian has more offensive punch, but the Andromeda can be raised to fleet standard and therefore slightly tougher. You can't lose with either ship. I would personally, not look at any T5 ships. They're fine if you already have one and want to upgrade to stay with it, but as a new ship purchase, T5 is a dead end in my opinion.

Escorts are also fine for Engineer, my Engineer flies a Phantom. While she doesn't hit as hard as a Tac would in the same ship, the extra survivability is really nice. An Engineer can be quite effective in an Escort, you're by no means locked in to a Cruiser.

I personally prefer the Presidio Cruiser, but if the Hangar is a turn off for you, then I would give the Andromeda or the Guardian some consideration. If you just can't take the turn rate, drop your Engineer in the Phantom and have a blast. :D
    Insert witty signature line here.

    hmm.. Probably the Presidio.

I know you don't care for fighters, but it is an excellent ship, across the board. It doesn't have Weapon Efficiency, but it gets pretty much the best of every other cruiser option all in one package; it's also a Fleet-grade T6 with a really good Starship Mastery Trait.

If you're after a beefy and flexible escort, the Patrol Escort Refit(Tempest) is still quite excellent. The universal seat means you can build it pretty much any way you want to(you can build it tac heavy, science/control heavy, or even build it more like a cruiser). The console it comes with is stupidly powerful and you even get a fourth (fused) aft weapon. That said, getting it to Fleet T5U will cost you a little extra.

Something I don't think anyone's mentioned yet which could be a viable option is the Avenger-class Battlecruiser, as this is a ship which I've used for my main character (Vulcan Tactical Officer), and currently one of my alts (Fed-aligned Klingon Operations Officer) has one of these as his current command.

The Avenger-class has an initial Turn Rate of 9, which truth be told even though it's better than some of the other Fed Cruisers, is not as good as on an Escort, which is why I'd suggest having Enhanced RCS Accelerators with either a +HullHP or +ShieldHP modifier, or even have the normal Enhanced Monotanium and Enhanced Neutronium Alloys with +TURN Modifier for Engineering consoles in order to increase the turn rate.

With the T5-U factor, the obvious suggestion for the Avenger would be to get the normal version, then get a Fleet Avenger, then upgrade that to T5-U saving money as it would enable you to have the extra Science Console and an increase in Hull HP and Shields.

This is the build I was using for both my Avengers, but as I have earlier said I've changed the Engineering consoles for consoles with a +TURN modifier to improve the turnrate, making it feel more like an Escort.

Presidio is a pretty solid option, though you'll probably want a couple of Fleet Neutronium [Turn] to get the turnrate up. Tier 6, 11 Consoles out of the box, great ship Trait (though it benefits Tac/Sci more), and pretty close to top end turnrate for a cruiser at 8 deg/sec turn make it a pretty nice choice. Downsides is no Strategic Maneuvering Cruiser Command to buff it's turnrate by activating it, and no Weapon System Efficiency Command either to reduce your weapon power drain.

Another option is the Avenger Battle Crusier, it's small, stout, but packs a fair bit of firepower and has a turnrate of 9 deg/sec (+1 deg/sec is actually noticeable) on top the Weapon System Efficiency and Strategic Maneuvering Cruiser Commands that the Presidio lacks. No Trait, and to get 11 consoles you need the Fleet version upgraded to T5-U, but otherwise a solid option.

no pack- Oddy Tac cruiser - simply the best (T5U)
Eclipse is a close second IMHO

if you decide to go intel you might want that pack for costumes and traits but again after a 5 year + run Oddy Tac...
