Omni-Directional Beams

Is there any chance of fixing the beam firing hard point for these weapons. It looks terrible when your aft beam weapon is firing forward through your hull. The ancient anti-proton beam array from sphere of influence has a proper hard point that fires from the forward section of the ship if your enemy is in your forward arc and the aft section if behind you, why can't the crafted ones also have the same firing layout?
