Taris and the Iconians/Heralds: Theories?

Taris, especially now with this latest episode has resulted in more and more questions about what is really going on due to how she seems to be their house guest. Why did they rescue her from facility 4028 and then allow her to stay inside their staging sphere? Take a look around inside there next time, there is lots of heavy Romulan equipment , crates, food, and even a bed she has in there! And furthermore she's wearing Herald gear on her uniform if you look closely at her collar, it's identical to that of the Herald you encounter in the mission!

So obviously she was allowed there in the sphere like a guest. Now the question is, why? Her little story to us makes no sense in light of all this. Were the Iconians/Heralds trying to deceive her for some means? Or was Taris trying to deceive us and actually completely in league with them or completely brainwashed? After all the Elachi also appeared in that mission and they were instrumental in such process that Hakeev practiced. Perhaps he did something to Taris to make her completely obedient to the Iconians/Heralds. Still in the end it makes little sense why she was of any further use to either of them at this point and why she was allowed to make herself at home in the sphere.

And lastly, like someone pointed out before in another thread, I don't think we've seen the last of her, a Herald ship came up almost immediately after Sela kicked Taris off the edge in the mission and taunts us, it very likely noticed Taris going over the edge and saved her if the Iconians/Heralds saw value in her for whatever reason. So that still begs the question of why?

And a final thought that entered my mind, considering the identical gear to the Herald she wore, what if the Herald we fight in the escape from the sphere, IS Taris? Either what used to be Taris, or what we thought to be Taris. Just fun to speculate at this time! If she was that Herald, she probably just entered a portal during the fall and came back up to where we are for payback.

the proof is in the pudding you eat, she believed the iconians would restore the homeworld she destroyed, she was so wrapped up in her own complicity that allying up with the devil on a promise meant more to her if it got her what she wanted. the iconians use people to their advantage, she was in a vulnerable place and the iconians exploited it. there may have been a purpose not yet understood as to why they alowed taris to live on the sphere having access to the sphere in question, even if its just limited functions.

but as for Sela, its not known if she even escaped and if she didnt then what was in store for her as well, again iconians use people for their own purposes. was sela just a puppet for the iconians to make it look convincing so they would have an escuse to destroy the beta quadrant by bringing the enemy to their doorstep?

as for the herald equipment? a gun by itself isnt dangerous, but when its picked up and loaded, it is very much in the will of the person who is holding it. so the herald armour probably meant that she believed she was doing the right thing in her mind, but it looked more decorative then useful.

I would take the dialogue at face value. Any hint of depth is just an illusion.

Waste of a good character, even if they bring her back.

Though I've said that about Sela before. Then again, any Sela appreciation in this FE is incidental to their ripping off 300. That they just managed to keep the rest of her dialogue within canon suggests to me either they got lucky, or someone more talented (Denise herself?) re-wrote the lines.

I think the Herald ship was just cruising below... excited about the Invasion to come... then "SPLAT." Taris went through the viewscreen.

Taris was the captain of the romulan ship that found iconians with Picard
