Ok I need some advice. I have absolutely no interest in making more characters and wish they would have done something for existing alts. Yet there seem to be some interesting account wide rewards if you go through it. So, is it worth creating and grinding out a toon just to get the rewards (trait)? Are they any good? Is it worth to create more than one to get several of the transferrable R&D boosts? And does anyone know if I can safely dispose of my toon garbage without jeopardizing my account wide unlocks once this event is over?
I'd say it sure is worth to a least make one for the account unlocks. Getting through episodes, crafting to lvl5 and him/her to 50 dosen't really reqiure that much effort, time maybe but also not too much.
Multiple deltas though....would be a waste of time since account rewards won't be distributed a second time and most of the stuff the recruit gets will also be character bound. The only things that could be transferred are the dil you eran while playing stuff that rewards dil, the EC and the 2 tech upgrades you'll get at 50. Which most of that can be eraned by a "finished" toon way faster.
We can give you our take on it but that's speaking from our own interests and priorities. Myself, yah its worth it. We've certainly spent far more time grinding less interesting content for smaller rewards in the past but if you don't want to play pre-end game STO then the Delta Recruit event is not going to be for you.

Kind of in the same situation OP. All my toons are finished builds and I don't need another alt. However I will level up a throwaway for the OP trait so I will be on level footing with others in case PVP comes back.
I feel you OP, I had no intention to make another toon either because I have 8 Lvl 60 chars all upgraded mk 14 and with one primary and one secondary specialization tree filled already .
Yet I have reconsidered. The first relief was that original fears that those new toons would be some kind of tier 6 augments where total bull. I dont feel in any way pressured to participate in this event. The only special features for the toon turn out to be a crafting doff as well as the option to get a trait and 2 special items for your account. This is nice but by no means mandatory to have. All the rest is just a pack of free currencies I usually get in this game by grinding very repetitive tasks each day. Now I get them by replaying story missions which I havent done in a long time. There also isnt any timeframe attached to this event so no pressure how fast I level or anything. The new toon itself will have an easy standing at lvl 50. With 250 rep marks in each category and sponsorship tokens basically only 4 normal difficulty pve are in order to max out the reputs for the multiple 32k dil rewards. All the marks for the other toons will convert into dil (too bad my alts have already maxed out reputs or this event would conclude 1,5 reps totally for each of em). The new pre-purposed dill will be put to good use in form of fleet credits re-donateable to bases.
Because of the crafting system and stories one has to play anyway it will be childs play to out gear the new toon for very few to zero costs.
After the benefits are used up I can even decide if I intend to keep the char or not.
I think under the consideration of my toon gang this event will reward me with far over 200k dil and if I play the toon in a dozen pve after levelling almost 400k. Those are similar figures I would get out of any cryptic 2 weeks event but this time I get a change of pace and perhaps even a new char I happen to like.

The useful awards, both individual and account wide are less than running one's main and alts through things like the CE or Mirror Event, but take far more time.
So, it's really only worth doing if one or more conditions apply:
You wanted to created an alt anyway
The Trait is a must have for you
One of the devices is a must have for you
I can't imagine 2 or 3 applying, but people want stanger things.

only you can answer the question is it worth it to you, personally I think it is.
regardless of the rewards this looks like it is going to be a blast and if you haven't got a delta you cant take part.
to the best of my knowledge from what I have read in the blogs and Q&A`s there is no reason why you cannot create the delta, play him till the end of the event then transfer all you can to your main by whatever means you have and delete the delta.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I'm gonna make a klink just to work on week ones goal, then play my real delta starting week 2, hopefully with triple xp. Gotta beat that delta quadrant leveling wall.
Well, since they said the recruits don't have to power-level to max before the event ends, you can make one and take as long as you need to get to max level to unlock the account rewards. If not for that, I wouldn't be making one when (after many maintenance extensions, I'd guess) the server comes back up today.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.
I really can't see why I wouldn't throw a new Delta together. Any reward is good in my book. The rewards can come as fast as I feel like grinding them, as you only need to get out of the tutorial during the event. Then you can just take it easy, so I feel there is really no pressure in regards to this. It is no more grindy than you want it to be, which is certainly better than fighting for spec points.
If this event meets Cryptic's expectations I can see them doing similar events in future whenever they want to get new folks playing, which wouldn't be too bad, really.
So, in the end, it is up to you to review the rewards and decide what your priorities are. I'm going to make a recruit simply because I will have a slot not filled and its being empty will bother me.
I am thinking it is not worth it. Many of the early missions are bugged now. I cannot even finish Treasure Trading Station....
Same. I had to skip it. Given the nature of this promotion, you'd think they'd have this sorted (and it is a bug that's been around since at least last year).
Ok, I just made level 12 on my baby delta and well I'll Try to be nice about this...

It's not quite the most uninformed flat dumb question I've ever heard asked on the forums..
Go play yer Delta Recruit and enjoy it ok.. It's fun.. It's not any more grind then anything else in the game, and there are many many many nice spiff special rewards to "ease the burden"..
I just opened a reward pack that gave a set of some pretty serious space gear.. engines deflector, core, shield, and some ships weapons besides... I don't need to pass this toon NOTHING from any of my other toons 'cept maybe some Dilthium.. later on.
I can't even do any patrols and yes i'm stuck on treasure trading station

Accountwide stuff that's unlocked should stay unlocked, wouldn't make any sense if it would need an active delta to remain that way.
It's also stated in the blog that the accountwide rewards are here to stay. So every future toon will have access to them, which is quite neat.

Personally, I made 2 Klingon alts that I wanted and will probably make a Fed just because.
