I don't think it's dying. There's plenty of ignorant players blowing wads of cash on the game and I don't see it going away anytime soon considering it costs next to nothing to keep a game in maintenance mode. Look at CO.
Anyway, the whole concept of the Delta Recruitment to me is just lame. Giving a new playing 1 million EC and some dil or whatever will not bring them up to speed or anywhere near the level of a level 60 vet player. What will it get them a mirror ship and a rep or fleet item or two? Why not do like WoW and give a instant lvl 50 token. Makes much more sense IMO.
I take great offense to the second sentence of your statement. I'm far from ignorant and I don't "blow wads of cash," I choose to pay to play instead of owning an upper-middle-class car. I don't drive vehicles like that. The vehicles I drive I'd never spend that much on this game, sorry. As for the instant level 50 token, I'd easily drop one or two hundred dollars on a few of them. Yeah, I know I mise well throw my wallet on the ground in a parking lot, but I do enough "grinding" in real life. Every day I play STO I'm sitting idle somewhere in game cause I've taken work home with me on the phone. I have to turn it off sometimes to complete an STF! I shouldn't have to log on here and do additional grinding. It's kind of insulting. Cryptic please, you need to realize that. Some of us don't come on here to discover new content and stuff. We come on to buy and hoard all the bug ships then sell them when they're in demand. Putting out that JHSS really through some of us for a loop, not that anyone cares. I had 5 JHAS's in my bank ready to sell for almost half a billion each. And now I can only outfit maybe one and a half ships with low-stat epic mk 14 gear with what I would get for the ships now!
Some of us only care about the acquisition of wealth and rare items or extremely expensive items. We are the one's buying a thousand dollars worth of zen every week 365 days a year. Cryptic you need to build us a sector or some space station that's a thousand times better then the lifetime sub station. We deserve to have shiny gold material for all of our ships. Please appreciate the people you already have as well as the new potential high rollers. Oh and we'd appreciate it if you brought Capp, the bartender, to our new gold plated station. We'd also require all vendors and consoles from all of the other stations as well as dabo and a club thank you. Oh and any trash we sell to the vendors we should get 100% of the retail price, not 50%. And we need more outfits with vet and lts gold on them and a high roller combadge that's made from gpl. Like if you spend $1000 dollars on the game you get the badge base plate. $5000 would get you the next layer. $10000 would get you the starfleet emblem, or klingon or rom emblem. and $20000, which I will be hitting once maintenance is over, will add detailings, etchings, and olive branches or something fancy to the badge. Once people saw it, they would want one too!
Also, you need to place more subliminal advertisements for zen in more locations then esd, first city, and the flotilla. Each map needs a few messages. Then more people will buy zen and take off some of the load from us printing presses have trying to keep a steady stream of content coming out, lol. Blizzard does it and it's successful. Well that's all that I can think of for now. You don't have to thank me for my feedback. As a 5+ year vet, we already have an understanding of each other. Oh and I've been requesting the gold ship material for 5 years now. I'm willing to wait another 5 years but it would be really nice if you surprised us one day and put it in a patch or hotfix.
"Being a troll myself, I classify this malcontent as a Type-2 Oblivious Troll. My reasons for coming to this conclusion are: The annoying colored text he deploys, the contradictory threads he creates, the excessive whining and foot stamping, the amusement factor of his threads, and the apparent lack of realization that he is in fact a troll, like me, and is not the heart broken, victimized, player, he sees himself as."
if you cant be bothered to find the point in the message itself, i cant be bothered to point it out to you so the joke is on you in the end for not wanting to know. not very productive use of time is it? id suggest you try again.
This thread is about Cryptic padding their product stats (such as daily active users), while your post seemed to be about players padding their in-game stats (such as kill count) via exploits. I'll just assume you were making a joke or something. Not a funny joke, but a joke.
For those who eagerly await the event, have fun with it. For some others like myself, no intention of redoing boring missions that I hated doing the first time around. That was why the old mirror invasion was so popular when it appeared on the hourlys. People wanted the fastest most expedient method to level to get to the real action.
However that real action no longer exists as much. The queues are dead and will be even more empty now with this event occuring. I attribute the main reason for this event as not enticing new players, or even advancing their metrics so much as they are wasting time til they can come up with something valid. Just let the players redo old content by themselves while we ponder why the adventure zones have shrunk in population and why we havent been able to create an stf that is popular since the very beginning. The game has actually gone backwards despite the increase in content.
You want to fly around doing the same missions over and over by yourself, that is fine. I do not. I enjoy the part of the game that made it somewhat like an MMO. Playing with and against others, and that barely exists anymore.
