Delta recruit: fed

chalpenchalpen Member Posts: 2,207 Arc User
I haven't played a fed character since the game came out. I played until the episode were I killed everyone in the bar and rolled a kdf character and never looked back. Was embarrassed that this was "star trek" while I went looting dead corpses.

Anyways, I hate to ask but...has it improved?
I am told that the federation has more than twice as many missions as the kdf for some reason, now.
Are you still going around like some sociopath killing everyone?
Should I start posting again after all this time?

    Yeah that episode is changed.
    Your pain runs deep.

Honestly, the only way I could make sense of it was to make an Andorian Guard Captain, with a full Andorian crew, and using the Andorian escorts. The Andorian Guard in Enterprise seemed to be a more do what needs to be done organization. So if you really want to try Fed, I would say try that and see if it makes you feel a little less bad.

Improved....hmmm....let's say changed. That mission you're talking about is still there, only now you don't actually slaughter everyone but rather subdue them. With firearms. But they're at least not dead, more like wounded/shocked.

Actually, now the Federation has less missions than it used to have. With the 'streamlining' of old story arcs the number of episodes was significantly reduced, so the number difference between Fed and KDF missions in now closer than ever before.

    Yes, yes you are.

No it hasn't improved in that regard. You still kill everyone and everthing that crosses your path. Except for two missions. Cold Comfort and Spin the Wheel.

And yes, the mission during which you kill approximatly 100 Klingons in order to save a pile of tribbles is still in there.

I just went and ran the totals for this, and it now stands at, for the classic/pre-Dyson storyline game, 67 total missions for Feds, 58 total missions for KDF and 68 total missions for Roms. When you factor out the "Go and talk to this person for minimal skill points so they can direct you to where you need to go next" type of missions, it's 61 Fed, 54 KDF and 58 Rom. That's actually quite close. If you factor out all shared missions, it's 31 total for Feds, 17 total for KDF and 26 total for Romulans, and factoring out those same "Go here because this is where your new missions will be" missions, it's 29 Fed, still 17 KDF and 22 Romulan. That's not as close, but I suspect that the True Way/Mirror Universe mishmash revamp will cut that Fed lead over the Roms to essentially nothing and put everyone within 5 of each other, assuming that it eliminates the Fed-only ones and leaves a small group of revamped ones for all factions.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

If it helps to know a couple of missions after the bar fight/massacre you can find a couple of npcs talking about that incident. They say something like, "That stun setting packs a wallop."

If an authentic Star Trek experience is what you're looking for, you're still best served in the KDF

The disparity of mission quantity has improved since you last tried it, but considering how their missions are, you're not missing anything if you don't play them. Not to mention there hasn't been any new faction specific missions since LOR. Some missions have been tweaked but Starfleet in STO is still a bunch of clumsy, murderous fools.
