I was thinking it would be cool if there was a canon specific weapon set for the three major races I like my classic trek so I always run phasers and photons on my ships as I'm sure many people do. What I'm thinking along the lines of is a Fwd and Aft Phaser array and a Photon Torpedo launcher that work as a set giving some light bonuses and the other races having something similar. Now this is just a bit of speculative fun but here is what I had in mind,
Now traditionally Fed Phasers are very efficient so
Efficient Fwd and Aft Phaser Arrays
Starfleet has been using Phasers for hundreds of years due to their efficiency and accuracy, while not the most powerful ship mounted energy weapon they have proven themselves time and again. These prototype arrays have hyper conducting collomation crystals imbedded in the arrays (technobabble awesomeness) which reduces power draw from the phaser capacitor by up to 20%
so they draw 8 instead of ten when firing.
Phase discriminated Photon torpedo launcher.
Torpedo speed has always been limited by the weapons mass (E=MC2) by installing a phase discriminator Starfleet has found a way to push up to 99% of the weapons mass into subspace allowing the weapon to attain 0.998 of lightspeed the weapon will then rephase a picosecond before impact imparting a tremendous amount of kinetic energy to the target, normally shields would negate most of this energy but due to a subspace shockwave produced by the rapid dephasing of the torpedo up to 50% of the torpedos damage directly effects the shield grid.
So 50% torpedo damage to shields with 20% bleed through and maybe the torp actually flies a bit quicker than the normal ones in game so it looks good
Set bonus "Overwhelm shield" When activated your ships computer will fire a sequence of Phaser strikes at an enemy ship shields hitting the same spot repeatedly, this will cause a weak spot to appear allowing the computer to fire a photon torpedo through this spot,
so lets say 5 rapid hits followed by a single torp that has 100% shield pen
I'd love to read other peoples ideas on this theme for all the races
