Will this game ever change?

dylantrinidydylantrinidy Member Posts: 313 Arc User
So we have a new 5 man queued event and a single episode incoming, the queues are dead unless there is a bonus weekend for a particular queue and we blow through a episode in 20 min.

Is this all we have to look forward to with STO is queued events and single players missions? or stupid battle zones?

How about some vision Cryptic take some chances for once do something different something that will get people talking again outside the game about something other than the grind a real reason to come and try the game sadly i highly doubt the "delta recruitment" will be the answer because it still leads to the same road of "whats the point of building up a ship"

Insulting the OP and calling him a troll just makes you a troll too, so that doesn't help anybody. Instead, I would like to know what ideas the OP has for more interesting types of content. Go ahead OP, tell us about all of your great ideas.

I think this is a great idea.

Instead of continuing to provide content that offers something for...

    Single Players
    Teamed Players
    Mobs of Players

...they should come up with something for - er - uh, people that don't play?

No, wait - they've already done that with all the projects and so forth - allows them to get stuff without having actually to be there playing the game while that happens.

Man, I don't know then...it just seems like they're trying to provide stuff for all sorts of players and keep adding more things.

    I'm at a loss.

I'd say something more PvP related; but that would just be silly.

If your not a troll then you already know the answer to your question after 5 years of repetition and ever grinds .

This game is ok, and the only thing that's lacking are players to make it roll.
Its not cryptic fault ! :P

All signs point to yes...and if it is lets please remember.

Players,Devs, and the story all killed pvp.

At the risk of getting yelled at, I like the battle zones. They are the only real entertainment left at the endgame.

I would go so far as to say that Cryptic should forget about making new queues no-ones going to touch, and instead use that dev time in developing better battle zones.

do the words territory control ring a bell? a separate map of a constantly changing battle line for resources

gear/stat based pvp maybe or even valilla pvp

real exploration not just generated worlds of scan this shoot that start by making more explorable planets to beam down to

How about fleet pvp with leaderboards or even leaderboards for single player pvp

A new contested sector where anyone can be attacked at any time unless you have rep with the particular faction attacking you

hell make different factions within starfleet and the kfd more opportunity for war and alliances

give foundry missions a choice rep box heck at this point dil too tons of content not being used

just off the top my head

This game changes all the time. There are very few similarities between the game I played in 2010 and the game I play now. Now if the question was "will this game ever change for the better", then that is subjective since Cryptic loves to do controversial changes where some people like it, some people hate it, and others don't care.

Good, good. Suggesting ideas for what you would like to see is much more productive than simply bashing what you don't like.

    Marketing will be happy.

    Everyone else will be confused.

I can't even envision the content the OP has in mind.

It's been running this way for too long now, with little change. Ideally what they should do is remove, or rework the team missions (STF's) that aren't played. Heck, alike the existing campaign revamp, they could probably combine some of the PvE queue missions together with a larger reward upon completion. There's so much potential to do so, but instead they keep releasing new ones that are played for a few weeks (or months) and then retired. People always go back to the more typical Omega runs, or the Crystalline Entity run.

The Undine runs are pretty much dead, as are the Voth ones. Occasionally people will run a Nukara missions, but not very likely. The rest are usually more miss than hit.

Meh... If you want active queues popping on a regular basis, you need players. If you don't have the players...

*shudders* Half of that sounds like EVE Online, no thanks. EVE is nothing but troll ganking hunting grounds. If I want to be harassed, threatened, and treated like dog ** on the bottom of someones boot, I'll just work a few extra shifts overtime and get paid for it instead of paying for it.

I'm a care bear, so I'd never visit the contested zone.

I'd rather have Cryptic put their effort into content I will use, like those new story episodes.

Even Carebare's are hunted now thanks to the CODE trolls. Nowhere is safe from them. EVE Online is at its 10 year lowest player attendence currently, so I would hope Cryptic would avoid trying to duplicate anything from them, period.

Actually...that's not a bad idea. We have enough empty queues and that new Herald queue coming up just doesn't interest me. Better, more varied BZs however definitely interests me.

As long as they are clearly marked and there is no way to accidently enter them, and they are easy to avoid with absolutly no story mission aspects being in there for trolls to camp and TRIBBLE people over due to I suppose...

What I saw of the new queue doesn't interest me either.

But battlezones interest me even less. Ground is better than space, but I'd still take an STF over it.

I agree the battlezones are far better endgame content. I am hoping they are more open zones soon. They are however much harder to build and design then any of those close ended arcade style q things.

I would much rather see them spending time making the open zones

Ah, you misunderstood. I meant more like the existing pve BZs such as the Voth and Undine. I don't care for pvp.

In a PTW game you cannot use the current PvP model for territory control

You can use NPCs for a territory control game though and most of the players would love that
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

I've done a few missions on my own but most I do with friends. So it's not single player for me *shrugs*

The game cannot change to meet everyones expectations. That's impossible as no one can agree on everything.
