Honestly, If I could play the game without rubberbanding, UI latency lag problems, and my crew abandoning thier posts my view would be much different. Frankly the game has gone stale as we see each expansion as nothing more than a power grab by the uber latest lockbox power. The story line is the villan of last month is now included in the Federation. Is it more ludicrous to believe that we the Federation are at war with more than one opponent at one time? Really?
There are always multiple factions wanting to take the chance to deal the Federation or Klingon Empire a deathblow. Afterall what is with all the "FORIEGN" ships being flown by Federation/Empire captains? Come on we beat an opponent and suddenly we ALL feel the need to get the superior equipment of the foe we just defeated? What happened to Section 31 and the superior weaponry and ships they are working on?
Somewhere we have to reign in the lockbox nightmare scenario..... perhaps if we could trade in these old lockbox ships for T-6 versions of Federation/Empire or make them tradeable to other players or in the very least allow us to send them to our alternate toons under the same account.
So who is the next enemy after we conquer the Iconians?
So who is the next enemy after we conquer the Iconians?
Who said we conquer or even "fight" the Iconians ... does nobody read the Blogs these days ... it's just the "Heralds" ... just like it was the "Undine" ... "Elachi" etc before ...
Patch Notes : Resolved an Issue, where people would accidently experience Fun.
Uh... remer the iconain who was in the story line who killed the klingons to demonstrate thier power? Yeah the big shiny multicolored alien who threatend for us not to draw thier attention again.

Yeah I remember ... sooooo ... but who said anything about facing actual Iconians in S10 ... everything I've seen so far is telling me I'm gonna fight "The Heralds" ...

It's okay, people probably don't realize the definition of "herald."
A "herald" was considered an official representative of the monarch or power... more commonly, it refers to the forerunner or harbinger of a greater power.
So, yeah, not the Iconians. Their main lackey, but not THE Iconians.
Well after waving her hand and killing Klingon soldiers you know the Empire will want to go to war. We are allies in this like it or not... it is only logical that we assist them in this war.
Honestly, If I could play the game without rubberbanding, UI latency lag problems, and my crew abandoning thier posts my view would be much different.
I feel bad for folks who suffer from these problems. I see this same kind of comment on pretty much every game's forums, but I never seem to be affected. I do get disconnected every now and then, but it seems to be a problem with my own internet, because when that happens I can't get any website to load for about 60 seconds.
But as far as Delta Rising is concerned, I've enjoyed the story. Who will the next enemy be after the Iconians? I'm kind of afraid to find out, because if we can "beat" the Iconians I feel like we've jumped the shark.
As I said before in another thread, Cryptic could keep throwing servitor races at us to defeat instead of actually going against Iconians. For all we know, the "Iconian" in Surface Tension could actually be a servitor race instead of an Iconian. So Cryptic doesn't need to introduce Iconians to the game.
Cryptic got it into their heads that it was the best expansion ever, and that's quite probably a load of BS. It probably didn't do too bad financially, but that (in the grand scheme of things) doesn't equate to a success.
Delta Rising was meh; for the most part, it was nothing we hadn't seen before. It offered new content, but the content it offered was more of the same (opposed to something different). That's not to say it didn't come with a few nice changes, I'd be lying if I said otherwise, but as a whole, I don't label it as a Delight or Disaster either way. It just was.
all saying taking on the Iconians in season 10 NOT YET!!!
we have to go through the middle men first Elachi, Undine, Vaadwaur and now the Heralds season 11 i would expect the Iconians themselves to decide to take us on
Everytime I see complaints about the same thing
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Of course Cryptic could just keep inventing new minions for the Iconians. But that'd get dull eventually if it hasn't already. Not to mention implausible.
The Iconians -- classic Evil Overlords that they are -- are already straining their credibility. On the one hand, they are implied to be supremely powerful and dangerous, with massive technological advantage and seemingly unlimited resources (to build and abandon not one, but two dyson spheres). On the other hand, they're seemingly forever stuck hiding behind their minions, preparing and running sneaky tricks to distract the heroes. And in classic Evil Overlord fashion, failing every time.
You can only give a villain so many "technologically-superior" armies before the audience starts to question why he hasn't conquered the world already. And at some point the Iconians' lack of direct action in the face of their minions' continued failure will have to be seen as a lack of ability.
At that point, not fighting (and beating, since players always win) the Iconians directly will be jumping the shark.
I just hope we get 3 seasons instead of 2 out of it so we can survive into 2016.

I don't see why two seasons wouldn't suffice. Besides, it's likely they drop something unrelated somewhere in the middle, like some Gamma content or something.

personally I am very happy with DR, sure there was a couple of days when lag was bad but that was fixed pretty quick and the system seems mostly solid to me now, of course there is the occasional lag or disconnect but that is to be expected with an online game and I don't know of one that doesn't get this from time to time.
I am really enjoying the odd bit of crafting and the new system is far better then the old one, upgrading is good I feel more in control of my weapons advancement then just relying on luck for acquiring more superior gear.
the story missions are mostly good and the ship mastery system and specializations really make me feel like my characters are always evolving instead of stagnating like they were before.
all in all I would say DR is certainly on a par with legacy although the two expansions were both very different they both added much to the game in their own way.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
Wait, so 'The Heralds' refers to a new servitor species, not a generalized title for the Vaadwaur-Elachi-Solanae Triumvirate?
-_-
Elachi seem to be the worker caste. Solanae seem to be the scientist caste. Vaadwaurs seem to be the patsy/soldier caste. Heralds seem to be the religious caste.
Delta Rising is neither Delightful or a Disaster. Just Dismal or Depressing, to me at least.
Mainly due to the severe XP nerfing past level 50, and lack of variety in the later faction-agnostic missions; Cryptic should at least give players optional Faction-specific mini-goals that give an extra reward and make the last part of the mission easier (similar to the early Fed Save the Freighter mission, but Faction-specific instead of Class-specific). After all, they stated that the part of the reason of all the shared missions is due to the war ending and to allow "better quality" missions to be put in, so why don't they actually follow through and give some unique mini-elements to the missions we otherwise all share?
Or if they can't even do that, at least put in a shortcut or two accessible in replays. Such as Dust to Dust.
After making your way into the temple, you get new dialogue that lets you put a transporter block on the entire place (similar to one of the options when apprehending the renegade Fed scientist in one of the early Fed missions). This would prevent Keten from beaming out in near the end, or only have him beam into your ship's holding cell upon which you deal with him like you do onboard the Samsar's bridge, just with a bit more force. Maybe shove a mirror into his face and force him to come to terms, or just KO him and send him back over Jhetlya's shoulder.
As well, instead of having that same door always get re-shut after rappelling down each replay, You're able to override it and take only two straightforward halls to Keten. One hall with only simple automated defenses to shoot down, and a second hall that is a similar version of the disappearing floor hall, so that it still results in Keten attempting to escape to the Kobali ship, except at least this time the player was close to physically nabbing him (instead of a forcefield, it's a door that you unlock, which leads to the control room Keten was cowering in).
Both would still require some playthrough of Dust to Dust, but reruns would be much simpler. Again, something similar should be applied to all mission replays. Both replay shortcuts and faction-specific optionals that are only available if you decide to play through the mission proper (or are playing through the first time).

SPOILER! Having seen the Herald ground forces they do appear to be somewhat related to the Iconians, perhaps an offshoot or something.
what where we talking about? Oh right... enh... maybe this race was genetically tinkered with?
Considering the facts we have already learned about the Iconians and genetic engineering in previous episodes, that is a reasonable assumption. But there is a new episode coming soon that will probably introduce this species and give more details.
grind added to the storyline experience
patrols added to the storyline experience
the rest is just an entitlement claim if you really want to get into that.
oh and that stupid meme thing.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

What the hell, are u sure something from neverwinter has just accidentally been transported to the 25th century?
As for op i will list good then bad
Good
Story-was nice to see what happened in the delta quad.
Voice Acting- cant complain at having tuvok harry seven and the doctor even nelix was nice to see again.
Bad
Grind-having to grind for levels to access the next mission was a nightmare.
Specializations- i like the concept but my biggest concern is how long it take to grind them and the fact they cannot be repeced.
new Advanced- new advanaced is the old eleite my TRIBBLE, it is impossible to do and makes getting marks take twice as long and forces you to do boring things like drefa
R&D- again some of it i like but craptic seems to have a issue with us having to grind everything no matter what.
"It appears we have lost our sex appeal, captain."- Tuvok
The lag has stopped for most part. For most of us. Only a few places I see it some, but that has to do more with my old computer struggling.
At times a force has to take on multiple fronts from enemies. I can see going against 2-4. Even during World War II, the US had to take on Germany, and Japan all at once. So its possible. Plus most of these events on STO don't last long. And we not fighting them at the same time either.
For the Iconians they can keep throwing us more groups at us. As we get deeper into their main force. But we are getting closer. It don't matter if we keep getting new enemies to fight. It keeps the game going and adding to the story.

Lockbox ships are rare, fun ships to let you fly something different. They are not "instant win" ships.
So, it's not yet time to sing the doom song.

Elachi are the soldiers (we have this information in an episode), vaadwaur were just a miserable attempt
