Turn the "space volume" or whatever it's called off as the npc group spawns.. then have another turn on when the npc group has been defeated.
I doubt the player would notice.
Exactly. This is what I was planning to do for an underwater mission. Can't think of any other way. Even redressing mobs with the EVA suited costumes doesn't work.

Unless they add npcs they are designed to survive with the space volume on. I think the only option is to turn it off when X missions require you to fight npcs.
Npc contacts aren't effected by it though. They'll lose health, but wont die.
How are you going to explain "Why the player can sprint underwater?" Myself... I'm just going to throw in a line about improvements being made to the EV suits.

The problem is they don't "spawn" They are placed and animated, patrolling etc. So now I would have go into 25 spawns and set up the trickery.
It just made sense since it takes place on an Asteroid in the Vacuum of space and all the NPCs are in EV. LoL. Which makes it even funnier that they are dying.
Its just easier to explain that there is a low level atmosphere that is retained by the security field so you have about 1/2 hour before you cough and die from exposure
I think the "habitation dome" solution may be your best bet. I believe there's a sky that has a starfield and a faint force field grid.

That would be the Hobus map (which I used as the basis for my "Valley of the Shadow III" skycastle). Be warned, however, that that map has baked-in low gravity.

Oh, i am also using the new low gravity volume.
You can still sprint in that though right?
It's more like a light bounding but it works for being in water.

Failing that just tell the player they need one but don't have the space volume.

that's the map its already own. we are just pretending that its a tachyon grid. I just made the suit for the player optional.
