    not the point.

upset that people cannot do what they say they are going to do.
the lack of consistency is the issue.

    TBH: I find a 4 hour downtime a lot.
But I guess, there's no alternative.

Game comapnies ahould have 2 servers: one active, one prepped, so we do not "have to wait forever to log in" and wind down from a hard day. XD

Except that all your data is stored on the Server. Thus they would need to copy everything over from Server A to Server B before you could use it from where you left off - and copying that over would take a couple of hours. :)

If you just want to play and do not care about characters you can always just play on Tribble while the Holodeck is down.

But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Psstt.. over here! I'll let you in on a little secret... if it starts 5 minutes earlier, then it's done 5 minutes earlier. ;)

Well... I, for one, was running around like a madman getting the kids off to school, etc, so I could get a quick CCA run in before the servers went down, since I won't be able to get on again 'til this evening, which will mess with my 20-hour cooldown for the next day... and the next day... Needless to say, the server coming down early cut that run short. Had I known ahead of time, I might have had a much more enjoyable morning, not bustling around quite so much. So, while I agree, getting truly upset should be a red flag, I completely hear what the OP is saying.

I was resigned to the fact that the typical hour+ I have on Thursday AM was already eaten up by the servers going down an hour earlier than the typical 7 am Pacific.

Sometimes, showing up on the forums in the morning on a Thursday when the patch is running is like walking into a neonatal ward at the hospital... All the crying over nothing...

It was less than 5min. I got the 5min warning, stayed on for at least 2 more min to finish what I was doing, then logged myself off. That's not a big deal, really.

As for the time discrepancy - eh, it's always an estimate. It's kinda funny that each source shows a different estimate, but at least no source is showing the regular 2.5hrs while others are show more. Aim for 4hrs, and just watch the Twitter.

Daylight savings time over the weekend. It went down when it was supposed to according to the new local time.

    Oh?
    Greetings Captains!

We will be performing this week's scheduled maintenance tomorrow, March 12th, at 6AM Pacific. Downtime is estimated is 4 hours, and patch notes can be found here: http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/sta...h-12th%2C-2015
..and I got booted ~ 5:55 Pacific, soo...

I do not know what time it went down. I have not updated in months. I assumed that the OP did not make a thread about it an hour after the fact, thus I assumed it went down at 6:55 AM Pacific.

Well, they started the thread at 12 mins to the hour, so they were either 50+ mins stewing about it first, or went back in time ~10 mins to try and convince them not to shut down the server early...

Sure it is. :) It's a 100% guarantee that, however long it takes them, it will now be finished 5 minutes earlier.

apparently the people who run the game do not care to do what they say. nor post the same repair times...they posted 3 different times

that is not logical. they could encounter errors, take a lunch break, have an emergency of some sort. just because they started early does NOT mean they will complete early

You're still not getting it. :) I didn't say they'll finish 5 minutes early, but only that it's a 100% guarantee that, however long it takes them, it will now be finished 5 minutes earlier -- lunch breaks and what not included.

you're not "getting it". you continue to say that it will now take less time by 5 minutes.

Pvpers found those five minutes to be overpowered, so they were nerfed.

OP, which clock were you going off of? The STO clock, your computer clock? Cell phone? Personal watch? It's all relative you know. There was probably a dev chilling at the servers going by his own personal watch. They maybe, just maybe, might not be 100% synced up. Now before this causes you to rage and whine about your precious 5 minutes, you can sit back and realize that 5 minutes is nothing. It's really, really nothing to complain about.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

in game clock...if they cannot use their own time then they are doing it wrong. also they posted 3 different ETRs....3.5, 4. , and 4.5 hrs.
the lack of attention to detail is what hurts.

and that isnt the issue. the issue is the lack of attention to detail.
