In a time of war and conflict, a group of officers stay true to the founding principles of Starfleet, out on the fringes of unexplored space. Know as the Zenas Expanse, this region lies waiting to be discovered beyond the borders of the Cardassian Union, surrounded on three sides by opportunistic Ferengi, cruel Breen and xenophobic Tholians. Exploring this sector of space will put your training to the test as you are confronted by not only former adversaries, but also undiscovered species. Desperate Lekaari, impassioned Dronagzi, brutal Yeth and calculating Mzai are watching, waiting and judging the actions of these newcomers to their region. Will you be able to thread the balance between new friends and old enemies, or will the spectre of war rear its ugly head?

To find out, enlist with the Zenas Expeditionary Force! ZEF Webpage!

The Zenas Expeditionary Force (ZEF) has different divisions who work together to keep the peace in the Zenas Expanse, while staying true to Starfleet's guiding principles: “To explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no one has gone before.”

ZEF Divisions:
Mobile Operations: Starship Commanders and their crews, exploring and protecting the regions of the Zenas Expanse.

Colonial Operations: Find, Establish, and Assist colonies within the Expanse and interact with strange new worlds and new civilizations.

Deep Space 515 "Magellan": Station staff will live, work, and interact in our central 'hub' that coordinates the efforts of Starfleet and other Personnel.

Diplomatic Corps: Navigate the complex and dynamic relationships between species unique to the Expanse, and work to expand Starfleet's Mission.

About the Z.E.F. Fleet:
The Z.E.F. is a Worldwide Role Play (RP) Fleet with players in many time zones across the globe, a dedicated Storyteller/Game Master staff to govern stories, a strong community, and a creative story team constantly putting together new ideas, new events, and new content for each of the branches of the Fleet.

Interested Fleet Members are asked to submit an RP application to the site and meet with Senior Officer Staff prior to joining. Please note that, due to use of mature subject matter in some storylines, the Zenas Expeditionary Force is a "17 and Older" fleet.

Do you have what it takes to stay the course? To once again carry the Federation's torch and mission to "Seek out New Life, and new Civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before?" Then set course for the Expanse, engage warp drive, and apply for a transfer to the Z.E.F. today.

(( OOC NOTE: Log Written by @joranromar from our TOS event in honor or Leonard Nimoy / Mr.Spock))

Location: Zenas Expanse, approach course for Deep Space 515. 25th Century.

"Captain's Log, Stardate 92781.06. Columbia is returning from her mission deployment and are about to enter into DS-515 Local Space for our return. Nocte had an enjoyable experience with First Contact with a species who -"

    "Bridge to the Captain."

    "Go ahead, Number One."

"You might want to get out here, Sir. Sensors are detecting a massive lightning storm in space, but there is a Federation signature in the midst of it. It's reading as an old Jellyfish-Class vessel."

    "I'm on my way Nu-...."

Location: In Orbit around Planet Vulcan, Sirius Sector. 23rd Century.

    "Captain's Log, Stardate 5321.4

Columbia's first Five-Year Mission deployment has been underway for mere hours when we received an urgent communique from Vulcan to divert there immediately. The request came from Ambassador Sarek personally. I remember reading the log entries aboard the Potemkin about the exploits of Jim, Spock, and his crew. Personally I'm excited that while he gets to have the first crack at meeting new people, I'll get to do the same with the most diverse crew Starfleet has to offer. Usually people crew with their own kind, but this is an experiment. One I hope will meet with Starfleet's expectations.

We learned from Sarek that a "Katric Ark" was stolen from it's place within a meditation chamber by who they believe to be Harcourt Fenton Mudd, a local scoundrel and free trader who has been known to have dealings with Captain Kirk in the past.

Setting out on the last known course of the vessel which left Vulcan space presumably with the relic, we encountered a pair of Klingon D-7 Battlecruisers fighting one another and a Class-F Shuttlecraft registered to Mudd attempting to slip past the encounter. One of the vessels, the I.K.V. Angar, very much on the bad end of it. We engaged the fresher D-7, who returned fire briefly and scored hits on our warp drive before fleeing the scene. It was then that we were introduced to Captain K'rang.

K'rang was after a General Kruuge for his deliberate and unsupported venture into Federation Space. Both of us agreed that a war was unacceptable and that we needed to locate Kruuge quickly if we were to thwart such a path. His vessel was without sensors from their fight, and ours needed warp drive repaired. In the meantime, we brought Harry's shuttle aboard and sequestered him in the brig. There was a small crisis when it was discovered that the coffee so prevalent on the ship was drugged in some capacity. Thankfully, Doctor Wright managed to produce a serum to negate the effects of the debilitating drugs.

My First Officer, Commander S'uvok, lead the interrogation efforts into Mudd's story. Harry claimed he had been no where near Vulcan and was at the time pulling some smaller scam in another system regarding the sale of fake Romulan Ale. The story checked out, and I had him released in the morning, and as soon as we were able we set out in pursuit of Kruuge.

His trail lead to another Class-M world with a Klingon shuttle in orbit.
Columbia made use of the planet's magnetic fields to hide herself while a Landing Party lead by Lieutenant Caine investigated the area. In the meanwhile, Lieutenant Tahket and I reviewed the tapes a second time looking for minute details that might have been missed in the first pass. We were able to determine that 'Harry' was in fact not Harry at all, but perhaps Klingon or otherwise dressed to look like Harry.

On the surface, the Landing Party located both Romulan and Klingon parties engaged with one another while looking for resources on site. After suppressing both of their groups and taking a few prisoners - Subcommander Lyn and Centurion V'ren among them - Caine's team located a communicator which they used to coax the shuttle down for a pickup. They overpowered the remaining crewman and stole the shuttle, bringing it back to the ship. A detailed flight plan of Kruuge's vessel was stored there.

It was decided that both the
Angar and Columbia would arrange to set a trap for Kruuge when he arrives at his last navigation point before turning for the Klingon Homeworld. Preparations were made, and while K'rang would forge ahead we would investigate the other planets in the system Columbia would investigate the other planets on the route to see what he was searching for.

During this encounter, we detected and were attacked by a Romulan Battlecruiser, which inflicted serious damage. Yeoman von Grippen is never allowed to be within 4 meters of a helm console for the rest of his life, if I can help it, and we were forced to move at impulse power to a moon within the system that had dilithium signatures on the surface. During the attack, Subcommander Lyn escaped from her cell and attempted to destroy the ship in the Engineering Section. Several officers, including Lieutenant Isawa, Lieutenant Tahket, and Yeoman von Grippen, sustained injury during the attempt. Once we apprehended her in Engineering, she managed to overpower von Grippen, steal his phaser, and proceed to my cabin where she began a data file purge.

Thankfully, this was detected and while substantial records were lost it was not as complete as it might've been.

The Subcommander was on her way to Sick Bay to attack the wounded when I stepped around the corner, stunned her, and subdued her. She was placed in restraints in sick bay for treatment.

Damage shipwide; substantial. Chief Engineer MacKenzie needed dilithium if we were going to get anywhere on time.

On the moon, two landing parties would spread out and search for the crystals, one lead by myself and the other by my First Officer. We managed to locate enough to get us to Drozana Station, where we put in for proper repairs and shore leave.

I did not participate in shore leave, opting instead to remain on the ship, see to the injured, and visit with Lieutenant Tahket as she was still recovering. S'uvok took responsibility for our crew on station, and I'm told it was a relaxing portion of our voyage.

Following completion of repairs, the time had come to complete the noose. Warping out to the final system in the patrol route, we laid our trap and waited.

    Kruuge delivered.

The battle was pitched. Damage was sustained to all three vessels, however the combined efforts of our shuttle craft lead by Lieutenant sh'Sonora paired to ours and K'rang's weapons fire quickly subdued Kruuge's vessel. During the battle, Lt. Commander Nimitz - a man I've called friend nearly as long as Aiden or S'uvok - was injured and discovered to be a Romulan. He was placed under guard.

Kruuge surrendered, and I had Mister S'uvok board the vessel with a security team to secure the vessel and the prisoner for return to the Klingon Empire. Captain K'rang joined the Landing Party.

The Ark was recovered, and Kruuge was killed when he tried to kill K'rang; we turned the ship over to him, to take back to the Empire. However, Nimitz escaped with the other Romulan prisoners, beamed away by the vessel which had continued to shadow us under cloak. The mission concluded, we proceeded back to Vulcan to return that which was theirs back to their people.

It was awe-inspiring to stand before and speak to Ambassador Sarek.

Our first mission complete, the ship set out on her first long-term assignment. To Seek out New Life, and New Civilizations, boldly going where no man has gone before. I'm very proud of my crew, and I know that whatever lies ahead of us, we will not only face it together - we will thrive.

There are still many questions to be answered, but that is the responsibility of another crew. Let's see what's out there...

Meanwhile, back in the 25th Century...

"...mber One," Joran answered as he moved from his Ready Room onto the Bridge of the Columbia. What he saw was the streaking stars and pinpoints of the vessel at warp speed. "Status Report?" he asked.

Commander Kaia Ghemor frowned. "It was just there, Sir. MacDonnal?"

"Aye, Sah," the Scotswoman answered, "Was there, big 's life, an' now she's gone. No residual traces, either."

Joran nodded. "Keep an eye on it, if it returns again... a Jellyfish? Isn't that what Ambassador Spock was flying in when the Hobus Incident happened?"

    Kaia nodded, "Yes, Sir."

Joran thought about it a moment, pursing his lips. Without anything more to go on than a momentary flicker, he didn't have much reason to divert heading to investigate further. "Maintain present course," he said after a moment. "You have the bridge, Number One."

With that, Joran returned to his cabin to finish the Captain's Log Entry.
