Different value for same gear ?

I have notice today that the reputation gear, space has different values for different alts. For example, the Nukara Crystalline Resilient Shield MK XII has for my Reman Fed alt a value of 7437 Maximum shield capacity, while my Romulan KDF alt gets a 8452 Maximum shield capacity, Fed gets only 6761 capacity and KDF alts 8114 max capacity. Also all alts do get a different shield generation.

All alts have been checked on the same space location and have the same skill stats. Shouldn't those numbers/values be the same for each fraction/alt ?

Different ships have different shield modifiers.

This can only be caused by different traits. There are racial traits and reputation traits that can buff your defense. Check it.

Ships have also shield modifiers. They differ from ship to ship.

Check where you put skill points at? Check what you have in your deflector slot. Check your shield mod. And check what kind of science consoles you are using. I'm pretty sure I forgot more but all of these things change your shield hit points.

The shield cap bases off your shield factor of your active ship. Also reliable values can only be seen in system space. Also check for mastery, traits and other gear components influencing your shield cap.
Otherwise yes, they should be roughly equal.

I rechecked those values in the reputation tab, not mounted on a ship, while on a starbase, and the differences remain.

If in System Space, I thin kevery gear stil takes into account your ship. Otherwise the item compare feature wouldn't make sense - You'd always see the ship-based values on the equipped item and the non-ship-based values on an unequipped item, which would not be comparable.

You can use the STO Wiki to figure out the shield modifier of all ships (though I think you can also find it at the ship requisition tab, but you'll only see ships of your current faction, so cross-faction comparision would be difficult): http://sto.gamepedia.com/Playable_starship

As an examle, comparing 3 Escorts:
Phantom Escort - Shield Modifier: 0.9
Faeht Intel Warbird - Shield Modifier: 0.9
Mat'Ha Raptor - Shield Modifier: 0.85
