Because it will be the same braindead zombies with millions of hp like all the others. The narritive may change but the gameplay will be exactly like everything else we've seen so far in DR.

Excluding existing characters from the event is a bit more immediate issue than yet another foreshadowing of the Iconian conflict. We've had those for years.

Maybe see what the event even is before you decide if existing characters can be included?

I'll side with you on this one. But cryptics alt friendliness disappeared the same time as delta rising showed up. But I sincerely hope they do allow the inclusion of current toons. Like someone pointed out the content to accompany the event would be played regardless.
Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

"Benefit" is "Cryptic" for ... your other Toons, will get a warm fuzzy feeling about it ... :P

Actually, they stated in the blog that doing the events would unlock a trait on every character on your account. Something to do with temporal damage immunity in short bursts.

But you can't do the content on your other toons, you can't get the Delta Symbol on your other toons. Your other toons will forever be incomplete after this.

And because there are other event rewards, accolades and such that you can no longer get on new toons and can't be transfered, your new toon will forever be incomplete, too.

They also stated there are several other Rewards ... those are the ones I'm worried about ... given Cryptic record, they can easily squirm out with "We didn't say ALL of them were beneficial, of course it's just the one" ...

The exact quote is "They have a list of goals that they can achieve at any time, and completing these goals will see them rewarded with equipment, Marks, and other rewards beneficial not just to the Delta Recruit, but to all characters on the same account."

So not several, just plural, or as few as two. Which they've already promised in the form of an account wide ship trait and a server wide experience buff. But they could also throw in a few experience point multipliers that bind to your account. An R&D set with a few quality multipliers, or anything else that's transferable from one of your characters to another.

However, if you're looking for an account wide buff for participating, beyond temporal dodginess, maybe they'll throw a 5% experience gain buff at you, like veterans get?

Well, it also says that it's still years (in-game) off. I do have to wonder though... How horrible is the future for us to need to use time travel to avert it?

Would the existence of the fugliest TRIBBLE in science fiction history a.k.a. Enterprise-J in that future answer that question? Horrible indeed.

If the factions had the ability to travel back in time, they would fix Delta Rising before trying to recruit more people. lol.

Also, if you read the information about it, it says that the temporal agent will contact the new character through their tutorial missions. I think that means that you will need to start a new character.

Otherwise, I doubt they would have even given us a single empty character slot.

Besides, if a lot of people start a new character, that is a lot of potential money that they can make off of those players. Already, a lot of whales have bought the new power creep ships, and many just for the ship traits. Think about how many will be crafting, and upgrading TRIBBLE in the game for these new characters.

And again, a lot of them will be using money to speed up that process.

So, they stand to make a lot of money by tricking players into replaying the same missions they have already done the grinding through for their existing characters.

And new players will benefit from it, till they realize how much you are screwed for hitting level 50. (Good luck to them).

They could test the paradox theory and go back in time and start jumping on butterflies until Cryptic was forgotten. Perhaps if they stomped on enough butterflies Perpetuals STO would exist again. lol

I know where waiting on info... but the forums in general make me sad these days. Cryptic makes the game as alt unfriendly as they can with every patch for 3 years... and now there going to try to force us to roll more alts ? And it seems the majority of you are fine with this... was bored anyway sure I'll start rerolling toons ? Don't understand why so many people think this sounds like fun at all.

What a mind twisting turn of events. Playing STO is like playing a game of Simon says in prison. Geko says grind your face... Geko Says delete your alts... Create more alts... Ahhhh Geko didn't say.

I'm still not sure how we're going to go to war with a species that hasn't existed for 200,000 years (which, in STO time is more like 1,000,000 years.. as 5=1). I mean.. they've found relics and whatnot all over the place, but it seems pretty clear in the shows that the Iconians are long gone. STO keeps suggesting time and again that they're not.. which seems pretty silly to me. Space may be a big place, but by 2410.. it's not exactly unexplored. Especially the alpha/beta quadrants.. which is where Iconia is located (or was, as it's a ruin now).

Discovering that they're still around, and possess a large enough force to wage war against the combined forces of the galaxy.. well, that'd be like discovering every NATO country on Earth actually has an evil counterpart on the other side of the globe that we never knew about.. and they've been planning on implementing their plans for world domination for.. well, hundreds of millenia?

Then again, I guess that didn't stop them when it came to the Vaadwaur. /Facepalm

You must have forgetton this thing called the Mirror Universe, as just one such sample of the Iconians still being alive and doing just fine, in a science FICTION reality, I do boggle at people not understanding that anything is possible.
