"Raises altar"

Everyone join me in worship of the great glitched Crystaline entity instance who has graced us with its presence this beautiful Monday morning.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    It's not too bad as bugs go :rolleyes:.

    The problem only seems to affect Advanced instances, and does not set off your timer. I've had it happen a few times now but have been able to come out and go straight into a normal CC instance. A nuisance but all you really lose is the Advanced materials drop.

    No problems at all on normal. I've run it maybe a dozen or so times on Advanced, and its been glitched twice.

    ... Maybe I play at time when more capable groups are on? After all its not hard to learn 'If you have weak hull, hit evasive manoeuvres and run away whilst the entity is absorbing energy'.

    None of those have anything to do with evasive maneuvers or group capability.

    The reason its not there, is supposedly because the earlier group failed it. Ergo my reasoning stands.

    I have run CEA 50 times since the event started (across 10 toons).

    I have never seen this bug - so apparently does not affect private queues.

    DPS Channels FTW.

    The other fun CE glitch is when you get thrown into a broken instance and it counts it as your run for the day, and seta the 20 hour cooldown on you.

    only happens on PUG's, privates are a single use instance that if succeed or fail aren't used again. PUG's can get people jumping in after start to complete or replace missing people.

    Advanced is bugged and one very often ends up on an instance where players already failed the match.

    My workaround is doing Normal. Spares me the time to wait for DPS channel matches to be set up and is so incredibly easy and fast that I set my teddy bear on spacebar and still get 1st place in every second run.

    If I lose 250 Dil in a 5k match that way so be it.

    It only shows that you have been lucky so far. In the previous days i only encountered the phenomenon once or twice within a few dozen runs across 3 characters.

    As much as your boast would like us to believe, it is unrelated to PUG or premade.

    This morning however CEA has been incredibly bugged.

    On another note, the superiority complex displayed by a representative of a DPS channel is exactly why said DPS channels are disliked by so many. However that frequent recurring debate which we will skip in this topic.

    It's a "supposedly" with a decent amount of corroborating anecdotes.

    Private queues *never* see this bug. The map goes poof when the group is done, one way or another.

    Public queues are the ones seeing this bug. Public queues allow new people to fill in. The map does not close upon failing an "optional". New people can be brought into a failed map. The Entity can respawn but since the map failed there is no reward for killing the new one.

    Normal, like private, also never sees this bug, since there is no optional to cause a failure.

    This is a bug with a failed mission guys. The instance isn't locking after the mission goals are failed (usually the "don't lose more that 30% ships" goal that happens when the Entity absorbs your attacks.)

    Best thing to do is when you get into a CCA instance check if the Entity is there, if so, check if you have the "kill the Crystalline Entity" mission goal in your window. If the Entity is missing, or you have no mission objectives, immediately warp out and then wait 30s or so before rejoining the queue. "most" of the time you should enter a fresh instance.

    It is an annoying bug for sure, but it's one that you can get around without too many problems :)

    I got all 5 runs this morning bug free. Overall maybe 20% maybe a little less arrive broken. It's not the worst bug at least as it doesn't hit you with a cooldown. Now that would stink.

    private queres are having their own bugs... in which the host starts and is told there is already another quere for this. The match must be disbanded and restarted

    Once again:

    Normal is safe, advanced is a gamble.

    Until they fix it, advanced is adding new players into failed runs. Even if the CE respawns and you kill it, you get no reward.

    If you want 100% success at getting the daily shard, choose normal.

    This is what I'm doing atm, not sure if the AP torp is worth it but the shards will be useful for the next event hopefully with a better final mission reward.

    Just check the mission info, usually right side . If you drop into a failed one, you'll either see a red 30% text or there's no mission data, jump out and queue again. The not being able to kill the entity in 5 minutes or so doesn't cause a complete failure.

    I've done so far 45 (9 chars) advanced ones, and I had to queue again after we loose too many when the entity does it's energy thing, or I've jumped to a failed one, and there either the red text telling me it failed or no mission text so it failed earlier and they killed the entity and it reset.

    The sad, sad thing about it is the players found the problem, identified the cause, and posted all the relevant information on the forums well in advance of the event starting. Yet Cryptic didn't even acknowledge there was an issue until after the patch, which effectively means "hey, deal with it for a week and we'll push the fix next thursday."

    As others have said, the bug occurs because the instance does not correctly close down after failure, it stays up even after the entity is killed. This results in players thinking they've entered an empty instance, but it's actually a failure.

    I've also seen reports that the entity will eventually respawn, but give no loot or completion, again because it was a failure.

    On top of the two you mentioned, I have also had instances not queue the mission up when entering, so you complete it and end up with no reward. :(

    Sounds like the eventual respawn I've seen reported. That would also be a failed instance, but it was open so long that the entity actually respawned.

    Yes every time the Crystal event comes its either broken or glitches in need of repair and when event is gone it finally gets fixed ??

    This is like a regular problem last 3 years c'mon guys fix and leave it alone when it works ....

    I go into my special projects and previous projects I've had half full for next event following year is all gone as well.

    This special project events removal is screwed as well each time they event patch !!!!
