4000 zen and nothing to buy…

prierinprierin Member Posts: 7 Arc User
Got a birthday gift card, $40.00 for my game store of choice, which can be used to purchase a Perfect World card and as a result, zen. The nly problem is, there’s nothing to buy!!

My Engineer has her Samsar with the full Kobali set and is happy with it at the moment. My Rom Tac has her T5U Scim and is perfectly comfortable with that. The only character I’d like to get a ship for is my Science Officer, who currently has the T6 Breen Carrier. But looking over the available ships on the C store, nothing leaps out at me as a must-have.

I would get the RND packs but I have a TON of mats and the Jem Bugship doesn’t interest me in the least.

Any suggestions?

....I'm stumped. I don't know if there's anything worth spending that money on at this moment.

The Tier 6 ships have traits, the Intel ships have SS3.

Then again, I bought an Intel Science ship, flew it for two days and never used it again. It just wasn't as good as my other ships.

So, erm... well... let's see now...

If nothing currently grabs your interest, save it for the next lockbox or ship to come out.

Get Minecraft... it's got a ton of ways one can involve Trek in it.
    (and it's only $27 bucks)

You could buy the R&D packs and have a chance to win the new T6 Jem'hadar Strike Ship.

Or he could just put the pre-paid card on the floor, douse it in kerosene and set fire to it.

If you like the Samsar then I would save up for the fed command ship set. I honestly like all 3 ships for different reasons. Until then I would hold onto my zen until a few days after the Mirror event when people are scrambling to buy zen with their abundance of dilithium. That's a perfect time to sell for dilithium. Then, when the market drops, rebuy zen for a nice profit.

I have absolutely no interest in that ship and have more than enough mats... what I don't have I can buy from the exchange...

And no, not going to get into minecraft... I know it's good and fun and whatnot but I can't get past the blockiness >.<

That is a thought ... but it's a $40.00 game card with which I coiuld purchase a prepaid Zen card, so it's not like I have 4000 zen burning a hole in my pocket... might just see if there are any 2nd hand PS3 games I am interested in, even if I can barely find the time to play it any more...

It's strange, to have cash and an interest in purchasing in-game content and having ABSOLUTELY nothing to buy...

No real upgrades for your Scim or Sarr Theln at the moment. The Command Battlecruisers could potentially be an upgrade from your Samsar, but it'd be better to get the whole set.

I suspect we'll be getting some new C-store ships soon-ish(probably some escorts after everyone has wasted their money trying to get the new Bug), so I'd say hold on to the zen for now. You could always grab some ship slots/(account)bank space though if its really burning a hole in your pocket.

That's not quite an apt comparison, if he lit it on fire he'd get some heat out of it.

If you want a ship for your Sci char and you're a Voyager fan you might consider getting the Intrepid Pack, or the Vesta Pack, or buy Lock Box keys with the zen, or Fleet Modules, or anything else you can buy for Zen and sell of EC on the exchange and then buy the Temporal Sci Vessel, I really love that thing.

That being said think carefully about it because it might be a better idea to spend that money on another game... like Homeworld 2 Remastered :P

Aye, between Zen I've already traded, ~$20 paid for (for the first time buyers pack), Peanut Labs, and Dil I'm prepared to cash in, I have around 15,500 Zen available to me, but there's nothing I particularly want. It's... Irritating.

Those where good toys, I also got alot of use out of Erector sets, back in the day.

As to your OP (again) who cares?

Two days ago I dropped 50 into the game, gave my alts some extra doff slots, added some inv space to my account and to my main. I had enough to get the Intel outfit. This is all after I bought a comand ship and a second intel ship, just to get the traits.

So you can't think of a way to spend cash here, was it worth a post? Take a clue from others and just give it away. Buy some stuff hold a contest and give it away! You get more attention than just another post/thread. You want attention, be generous.

Otherwise spend it on a game and jump around yelling "look at me" on their forums.

Anyone with a IQ knows this is just bait for the forums.

Take a look at Shelter if there's nothing in STO that catches your interest right now. It's short, and nothing at all like STO, but boy is it an experience.

The problem is that the OP has a $40 gift card for a particular store. So websites like GOG and Steam are out of the question. Some possibilities are use it to fund the lifetime subscription (I don't recommend it due to it losing its value after the game went F2P), use it to fund a game console or tablet computer, or purchase some computer game or video game.

    Believe it or not, no.

My intent was to see A: what other people in a similar position were choosing to spend zen, if anything, on and B: if any others had suggestions for something worthwhile for a science captain.

I know there ARE some trollbaiters out there but I am not one of them.

Just save it until you can find something to spend it on.

If you listen to someone here and end up regretting it, you will blame us.

and then we will feel the need to bring up the time you made that post...

I agree with rimmarie. However, do read the fine print to see when you absolutely need to spend it. There may be only a 6 month grace period before the credit/debit card company begins charging monthly service fees that will eventually deplete the card.

If you asked before getting Zen, I could helpful advice. However, since it was for Zen, I say just hold onto it.

They may fix the game. If they do, then they may also stop doing the whole power creep TRIBBLE. If that happens, then they might come out with good ships that offer many different types of play style other than DPS.

Slim chance that will ever happen, but you can always hold onto the Zen, and pray anyways. lol.

Oh, an actual brick & mortar store.

    Hmm.

Well, if nothing in STO tickles your fancy, you could take a gander at Neverwinter or Champions Online. They're Cryptic games, so they'll take your zen.
