If you mean the male's of the Orion race i think it is more that the implants are used to keep the male in line as the race is female dominated, and the fact of female Orions shown to be slaves is more of a charade or facade to keep people unaware of who holds the power. Though also female Orions are extremely animalistic an carnal with powerful pheromones that can over time impair males of many races to be more susceptible to suggestion. In this way i can see why they have quite revealing clothing as it helps them to lure in people they can control thru their pheromones.

Though yeah i agree it would be nice to see more elegant an interesting clothing for them, and just more options period for them.

The whole matriarchical society and slave-ruse thing was introduced in ENT however. Prior to that, including TAS, that was not the case. The bestial temper of the Orion women was mentioned in TOS and it's still as offensive today as it was back then pig-2.gif And even if we assume that Orions always "lure" everone, all the time, at one point they also fight and they surely don't try to seduce Voth exosuits or automatons by showing cleavage. Additionally we know that some species don't react to their 'pheromone trap' and somehow I doubt that a society functioning as ENT suggested it would be so advanced and civilized as the Orions are said to be. As I said, ENT shares that weird STO notion that all of Orion is just a huge red-light district with some weird buff brutes running around dressed in chains. Orion however is the location of great achievements and the highly prestigious institute of cosmology and other research and it doesn't make snese that everyone visiting and working there is under pheromone control.

^ Memory Alpha.org is not canon. It's a open wiki with arbitrary rules. Only what can be cited from an episode is. ^
"No. Men do not roar. Women roar. Then they hurl heavy objects... and claw at you." -Worf, son of Mogh
"A filthy, mangy beast, but in its bony breast beat the heart of a warrior" - "faithful" (...) "but ever-ready to follow the call of the wild." - Martok, about a Targ
"That pig smelled horrid. A sweet-sour, extremely pungent odor. I showered and showered, and it took me a week to get rid of it!" - Robert Justman, appreciating Emmy-Lou

Well that is the issue as you never know exactly if the Orion home-world is a red-light district looking place, or if this facade they put forth is only put out beyond their borders in a more male dominated galaxy. and their home-world is much different in appearence than some might think. I mean it is like people even today we put on a mask of how things are at home for the world to see, but that face can be drastically different than it actually is. We also mostly deal with an see the Orion Syndicate a criminal organization so not sure if the original government is even still in power. As they do say "Orion once harbored a highly advanced civilization whose history had drawn great interest from Federation historians and archaeologists alike.", which to me implies that their civilization is on the decline after some kind of destabilizing event, and with that i could see a much more beyond thunder-dome or blade-runner type feel to them from that. It could be that in the past they had alot more restrictions on the use of things like their pheromones, but groups that came into being like the syndicate we are seeing their slow decline as a race. Actually would love to see more lore an info on the race both past, their world, as well as other parts of their society that might be more interesting like if they have a spiritual side to them.

Yeah. I'd rather finally have the stuck-up people disappointed and be given an unrestricted character editor. It's one of the best and most comprehensive out there, and when I want to visualize something I at times pick the STO character editor. Not for making a character, solely for visualizing.

Yeah, I agree with you. So what if people make catgirls? We can already do everything but the tails, and some people manage to do that as well. Who does it hurt? If a hundred people all make catgirls and make a fleet called the "Kawaii Neko-chans of Moe", who the hell cares? Avoid them. Ignore them if you want. If they're having fun and paying for the parts to support the game, leave them alone. It's not hurting anyone.

Why anyone thinks it's cool to have a stick up their TRIBBLE about what other people play is beyond me. Mind your business, folks.

You have to understand, fun in an MMO is a Zero Sum Game, the more fun someone else has, the less fun that other person can have, even if they never interact with each other in any way, shape or form.

The funny thing is, back on the City of Heroes forums, one guy was being dead serious about such an idea. Even had a very long and detailed post about why it is, and that was the reason why the Pre-order Costume Parts shouldn't be made available as Veteran Rewards.

Really wish I took screenshots of it, it was hilarious.
