A while ago, I offered some
suggestions as to how Colony Invasion could be made more interesting; one of them was to set up a 'solo' version (player and away team) with accompanying clear-time leaderboards... in effect, players are competing to see who can clear the scenario the fastest. Interestingly, it seems like the TOR dev team had tried something similar, technical problems aside (

...and so I thought now as good a time as any to see what this portion of the STO playerbase thinks of the idea of speedruns as an alternative competitive outlet. Obviously, the speedrun version of any mission/STF would need some coding tweaks, most notably the removal of all cutscenes.

In short too many space pvpers would cry since they can't do ground. The end! Also I would win!
Actually the DPS-League leader boards already do this but it's not official cryptic but they did sticky the post about it. Plenty top tier DPSers do both ground and space. I kinda like this idea since the devs make STO a dps race only they may as well embrace it, and having a solo mission where individual dps could be measured would be fun, kind of indirect competition.
Being in the DPS League has made me rethink pvp builds I'd been comfortable with for awhile and even now I pvp with a build constructed for pve and it crosses over very well.
Vanilla Ground PvP information
Well true but in terms of actual new pvp modes and pvp attention is this really the first choice we would all want? We clearly all want new modes to kill other players in. You see what happens when tact pve dpser try to enter ground pvp though. They put me on ignore after some serious butthurt . But back on topic it sets a bad precedent for the transition from pve to pvp and ultimately leads to said players avoiding pvp.
We need new ground arena maps period. Shanty needs some object edits and at least double the player size as well as a ceiling drop. I have the perfect vision in my head for a new shanty. It involves all races being able to access 3 levels of roofing to make vertical play more viable besides cats roofing. Actual staircases and lifts (with interaction icons). It involves a 3 5 and 7 virus due to the doubled map size. The 7 virus will be much more heavily guarded. An elite heavy turret must be created in game. Upon successful upload of a 7 virus an interaction will appear for players in the 7 virus aoe can have the option to do a site to site transport back to spawn for safety. The 7 virus would also be near enough to the opposing teams spawn maybe 40 meters to make it much harder to upload a 7 on them.
Is there anyway I can build this map on the foundry? Is shanty a template on the foundry so I can edit it? The overall layout would remain largely the same except it would be double the size almost.
Sadly no it isn't.
Making new PvP maps in the Foundry, either ground or space would be too awesome to say the least...
