Ok Cryptic tonight the lag and rubberband has got progressivley worse to the point where if i'm not rubberbanding i'm playing a slideshow. Games just got unplayable
Lets stop for a fortnight with Events, Promotions, Content ect and give the server some love and stability.
I can't imagine adding new things, changing things to a already unstable platform is doing it any good.
Or maybe even drop the ISP you recently changed to and go with someone else.
Cryptic will never stop the incessant conveyor belt of Events followed by Weekends followed by something followed by something else. When I saw that there's a two day gap with no events I thought it was an error with the calendar.
The fact is, they don't know any other way to keep players logging in.
The concept that players would log in anyway if there were less issues with the game has completely disappeared from Cryptic's collective consciousness.
maybe you've not been around long enough to hear this, but they've explained repeatedly that the people who make the events aren't the same people that are in charge of server stability.
and maybe all the people sniping at this thread haven't been playing long enough to experience the poor state of the server. Looks at the most recent Anniversary Event.
Now i'm getting server login timed out. But i guess its my i.p. i mean it must be, but wait, i can post here with no delays, i can browse the internet and stream video via you tube with no buffering, which indicates my connection is fine.
Now unable to authenticate from the laucher with 2 separate accounts. But again my internet is working fine for everything else.
My ship was damaged in a CCA queue. Afterwards I opened up my ship and went to repair the damage, and as soon as I hit Repair my game went black screen and then crashed to desktop. Quality Cryptic programming!
Now I'm trying to get back in, and the only response I get is "Unable to authenticate: Connection to the account server timed out". So, my game crashed, and now I can't do anything else. More quality service from Cryptic!
Plenty of people are getting consist lag, rubberbanding and random dc's myself included daily, i've been playing this game since late 2010 and never have i experience such consistant lag and rubberbanding in matches, Random DC's and this all seemed to start around the the anniversary event. however i'm sure some of it came with DR aswell but has progressively got worse.
All i'm asking is for Cryptic to listen to the bug reports, the feedback given on the forums and look into the latency issues with the game which people have been complaning about for over a month now.
Examples, UI Lag/Delays, Running STF's runbberbanding, Until tonight it only seemed to effect ISA runs but it spread as far a trying to queue up doff projects with delays. Playing The Tau Dawa red alert was well unplayable between being a slide show and a video being set on rewind/fast forward
Oh and i see posts have benn started iwth poeple have the auth error. So yeah really my ISP the issue. White Knight be gone.
I agree with the OP. Let's be honest guys: the game is unplayable.
I don't want to hear those ones are not lagging, i'm happy for them, but i'm talking about my fleet, my friend list (about 150/200 players), PESTF, OPvP, DPS Channels, NoP, Zone chats and so on... they are all experiencing continuous lag and rubberbanding everywhere in the game since the launch of Delta Rising and especially since the start of 5th Anniversary with the omega particle minigame. There isn't a day when i don't see in chat a complain about this laggy situation. PvE-wise we suffer continuous lag/rubberbanding and SNR: ISA is a damn lag fest, ANRA rubberbands all over the place, fleet alert now is a laggy party... and let's not talk what happen in PvP, abilities don't even activate when you want but they go in cooldown...
So, please, let us know what is goin' on. We play your game, we spend money on your game, so we'd like to see an official statement about the problem, 'cause it's getting out of control right now... I think we deserve a reply at this moment!

Their STO Twitter account has acknowledged there are currently log in issues being experienced. Theyre looking into it.
At this point, considering the consistency of log in issues, rubberbanding and lag. It might be time they reconsider rushing to the next season and maybe focus on getting this game stabilized.
As if a 5th Anniversary Event marred with those issues werent enough of a sign that theyre letting the quality of life issues in this game go.
I liken the stability issues, e.g. regular amounts of lag, rubberbanding, disconnects, and the Cryptic STO team's aggressive... almost overwhelming amount of new content over the past 6 months ...to a man who wants to put a new floor on his home...the engineer tells him that his foundation on his home could use some work... but he believes he can add the addition... but any other additions would require repairing the foundation...the man...happy with his new floor... ignores the engineer and finds someone who will keep adding to his home...you can figure out what happens next...
When players experience regular stability issues the common reaction is frustration...to different degrees...frustrated players do not spend money!
If I experience regular rubberbanding for example...why would I spend $30 on a ship that I would not be able to enjoy using?
If I am a new player, why would I spend any money at all if my fundamental game playing is regularly interrupted by stability issues?
In short... new content will not continue to save the game if the foundation needs work...in fact...and no pun indented...you'll find things eventually crashing down...

2015 for STO has been so far the year of the Lag.
ZERO DCs today (minus the current cannot log back in crisis). No lag when I was on earlier either.
the events are what is causing the issues... either themselves and/or the additional people/farmers online.

Exactly, that's the point. If so many players are experiencing these lag problems, do something, make your customers happy and let them actually play the game they love looking for a solution... instead, i only see no replies from the staff and a lot of frustration through the game
I think it is Borticus who mentioned that the STO devs are themselves helpless whenever the server goes wonky. All they could do is notify their provider who would go working on the problem. Their studio is in California while the data center that hosts the game is in another physical location.
I would imagine getting another provider is an option... unless their current one (Cogent?) has a contract with them and/or gave them the best deal.
Meanwhile, I'll just count my blessings that I don't suffer the same disconnect/rubberbanding issues.

I agree. Quit tossing out things no one wants or asked for, and please start fixing the game. As it is, I can't use my headphones because it crashes the game, I can't use antialiasing because it messes with the graphics, I can't log in because the servers crash, I can't play updates because they just cause more bugs, I can't use open uniforms, some of my characters have tails now, i get randomly disconnected, I'm loosing a lot of rewards due to the constant crashes...
There are way WAAAAAAAY too many problems with this game, and they really need to focus more on fixing them instead of putting in more things that are going to break things more, or cause more instability, or aren't even finished.
I've already made the decision that Cryptic gets no more money from me until they start trying to add quality to this game instead of ignoring the problems popping up with every unnecessary addition brings.

Every event, there are posters saying, "this is how [insert reward payout] should always be."
The game might implode if they paused for any significant length.
That's more than he deserves.
But, I've seen an uptick in complaints about rubberbanding without experiencing it myself.
That connection issues can't be on your end or the fault of your ISP because you can browse fine is a fallacy.

All I do now is doff and just doing that sto crashes half the time. But that's okay as long as the new event shiny is extra shiny right?

I think the two of us simply play the wrong game for such a thing.
