Taken from a year old thread (http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=15060491&postcount=49):

Why is it no longer considered 'tacky' to have a memorial for a single character/actor? Whats changed since then?

    Nothing ?

Lastly, if we were to honor a fallen Trek star in particular, we'd likely want to do so within the context of the game, by making a memorial to their character, rather than the actor.

Pretty sure it's going to be something about Spock, not Leonard Nimoys baby pics ... all these people didn't gather on Vulcan, because Nimoy liked the Desert ...

Going to miss Nemoy, Was always a fan of Spock, nice to see they're doing a memorial for him in the game he helped to create for us. Hope, like many of you have said, that the other members of Star Trek get memorials as well even though many were not able to be part of the game.

Well if we're going to have a memorial for Bones and Scotty then surely we should have one for Gene Roddenberry as well?

Why? What major character did he play in any of the shows?

LOL, you really want an answer for that?

Yes. Yes I do. What character was he in-universe that was important enough to have a memorial?

roddenberry was a voice of the chef in 1 show...so no he doesn't belong. this is the universe he created to have him anywhere in the game breaks that universe because he was never in it in any meaningful way.

museum would be a way to add everyone from every show and story, a cross cultural museum since the major factions are more or less getting along now. highlighting some of the federations, romulan, and klingons past heroes and accomplishments.
