Im looking for a good Klingon ship due to the sale, and I like both these ships, but Im not sure which is better. I run a Tac Klingon and I am looking for a battleship worthy of a Klingon Warrior. In other words something that can dish out the punishment, and have a good chance of surviving.
The Mat'Ha is rugged enough. I don't have a Mogh, though.
Since I normally use BoPs, I felt like I needed to use DBBs on the Mat'Ha instead of DHCs due to the slower turn rate (the Mat'Ha isn't a B'rel)... and that felt kind of wrong since the Mat'Ha is a Raptor.
(The Mat'Ha trait is all about the BO & THY attacks, so I think it's almost intended as a DBB ship, while the Qib trait is about Cannons. I'm not sure I fully understand this.)
I had fun with the Mat'Ha. Plus you get Intel seats, 5 Tac Consoles, plus the potential for Fleet Mat'Ha (Reminder to self: Pick up Fleet module during the sale). The Fleet Mogh is a 4 Tac Console ship?
(Heck, if I were to buy a Battlecruiser right now, I would buy the Qib for Battle Cloak (f-u, D'deridex!), especially since I am a BoP pilot.)
If I had to choose between Mogh and Mat'Ha, I'd buy the Mat'Ha because it's a Raptor. Extra Tac seats & Console. It's rugged enough for my needs. It already is a top-of-the-food-chain ship as T6, and then you have a possible Fleet version on the way... so it doesn't dead-end like the Mogh.
Don't really know what to say, both are great ships. It will boil down to your personal preference - wheather you want to be more sturdy and durable, but slower on the turn and with somewhat lower DPS potential (which will still be substantiualy high, regardless) or you want a somwehat more fragile raptor that melts everything in sight even before the oposition gets the chance to take a shot at you.
I own both, but bought them in different periods of the game. I love both on their own terms, but If I had to choose today....I'd go with the Mat'Ha Raptor. Do note that if I had to choose today from any ship in game, I'd still choose a Mat'Ha. I really love that mean machine, the DPS potential is ludicrous and I personally never felt in danger of being blown away, that raptor can tank like a light battlecruiser in my opinion. Plus it has access to some intel to make the DPS even more insane and I'm not even going to discuss about how epic the "nose spinal cannon" is. I consider this the most insane ship in the game. And it's not even at it's full potential yet, a fleet version is yet to come - so expect it to be even more sturdy with + shields and + hull.
All in all, I'd recommend the Mat'Ha - You'll be getting a T6 ship after all, plus access to the trait. I think I'm safe recommending the Mat'Ha to anyone, I'm yet to find a player who bought one and didn't have tons of fun and enjoyed it thoroughly. Unless you find it really challenging to keep escort-like ships allive due to playstyle, picking up the Mat'Ha is a no-brainer.
The Mat'ha is everything I wish the Mogh was and more.
I perfer the Vor'cha or command battlecruisers over the Mogh.
Now if you have the Mat'ha mastery Trait, Sheshar Mastery trait, and some pts in command specialization, and 3 purple projectile doffs, the Mogh can make a fun 3x DHC, + Grav & Bio photon ship.
Although you can run that same build on the Mat'ha soo I guess that is a moot pt.
In my personal preference Mat'ha is a much better ship than the Mogh.
Disclaimer: I fly these ships on my main which is an ENG captain, so your milage may vary

Thanks for the replies, I went with the MatHa. She definitely sounds like a battleship worthy of a Klingon Warrior, and you cant go wrong with it being a T6 it seems. Now just to gear it up, properly and send her to the Delta Quadrant to find Worthy Foes.
The one thing I don't like about it is the trait for it, as a matter of fact. I don't mind the CPB aspect of it with a BO shot. But the PSW effect with HYT is a major detriment for the typical matches. This thing will fling enemies all over the map to even 10km+ in every compass direction, even some BEHIND the firer. I **** you not. This is very bad when your team is trying to bunch up NPCs for easier killing and some noob uses HYT with the Mat'ha trait and defeats that attempt.
And FYI, the Mat'ha trait also applies to hangar units. Good for BO units like the Swarmers. But potentially disastrous for any of them that uses HYT.
Side note: I've noticed Romulan Hyper-Plasma Torps fired in a non-buffed state will get the Mat'ha trait's effects.

Actually, it sounds useful for Azure Nebula Rescue.

Like I said, for the "typical matches."
ISA: When the Spheres have been GW'ed while the team is working the Transformer, and you fire a HYT into the GW'ed Spheres, they will scatter all over the place. Including towards the Transformer.
Or a GW has been used on the Crystalline Entity and everything is bunched up, nice and tidy. Then someone uses HYT on the Entity. Next thing you know, a swarm of shards are right in the middle of the players who otherwise were at a safe distance blasting away.
There are times where this will be good. There are times where this will be an absolute disaster.

you can also run the same build on the sheshar, its quite fun, you can also load beams with the [over] proc to gain the most from the mat'ha mastery.
I'm leveling my T-6 Mat'Ha with my lvl 60 KDF ENG. I absolutely love the ship! Fast, durable (compared to my former favorite, the Qin Raptor) and loaded with firepower, esp. the cannon console.
But... I miss my Fleet T5-U Mogh. REALLY miss the ship. With the right fleet consoles, I get a good turning rate. The Mogh tanks well, has adequate weapons consoles, and *lasts* in a firefight (whether STF PvE, missions, etc.).
The MatHa. It is T6 afterall.
Frankly I havent had to worry about survivability as the ships leaves enemy husks all around it faster than it can loose its own shields.
I run an AP setup though, not disruptor with the matha console like most.
We still live!!!!! Hahahahahahahahaa! We live and we will conquer!!!!! Hahahahahaaha!

I very seldom run ship specific consoles, and when I do they are Romulan ships. The only exception tothis across my 14 toons, 9 of which are KDF or KDF allied is the consoles for the Galaxy-X for saucer seperation, MVAE seperation console, and the Vesta phaser lance console.
Oh and the Temporal Backstep console on my Krenn.
When we get a Fleet Mat'ha I may very well put it back on, but not on my current build for that ship, but that is because of the amount of Lobi consoles I have.

It has just about enough durability for me to make use of it. (I'm an eng though.) But the firepower is really something. I sort of wish I had it available for my Feds.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time. The Fed version will of course come with an enhanced battlecloak.
I'm yet to find a player who bought one and didn't have tons of fun and enjoyed it thoroughly.
lol then its is indeed true you do not read my posts .
now to the op. LOl its really up you and your playstyle . what type of ship do you currently fly? and how do you manage with that style of ship?
i have both of the ships and i dont care for either of them. and its not because i fly some expensive lockbox ship. because i dont i refuse to fly non-Klingon designed ships. even with the t5u upgrade the mogh can be outclassed and the little raptor i used it and tried it out and as soon as i got the trait i dumped it. same with the qib.
now im not saying any of them are bad ships . its just really up to your playstyle. and while im a pure kdf player im not a 5 fore weapon fanatic.
mostly because i dont use beams and the 5 fore weapons seem to somehow mess up the fireing cycles of cannons or atleast appear as they do. so again it goes back to playstyle. if your a beam user you wont mind.
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days.
Sorry to hijack your thread Op but didnt want to make one as its a quick answer.
But why snit here a Fleet neg'var, i made a klingon engi this weekend hoping to get a neg'var cause i like the ship but there isn't one.
Uhm....not sure where you've been looking for it, mate, but a Fleet Negh'var does in fact exist. >HERE<'s a link to the STO Wiki page about it. You need to have Tier 4 Fleet Shipyard to get one and it is upgradeable to T5-U.

Yeah, what patrickngo said. Go to the shipyard, select "fleet ships" and there it is - the Fleet Tor'Kaht Battlecruiser. Once you get it, you can switch it to the Vor'cha skin in the ship appearence customizer.
P.S. It's a damn good ship, if I may say so myself.

great, thanks both of you.
good to hear its a good ship to, always loved the Vor'cha class since it was on TNG

I'll tell you what, after flying it for a few days, my Mogh is def being retired in favor of my Qib. My Klingon tactical officer will continue flying the Mat'ha until the end of time, but my Engineer loves his Qib beyond measure. It's such an awesome ship.

Qib is an outstanding, very underrated ship. Extremely versatile, hard hitting, as tough as any Cruiser, moves as well as the nimble K'T'Inga, possessing the Gather Intel mechanic, full Intel access, access to the important Cruiser Commands, and more importantly:
In the ranks of KDF ships, it has a Battle Cloak. Only the BOPs have that luxury and pay for it severely. The Qib is essentially a Warbird powered by a Warp instead of Singularity Core.
The Qib & Eclipse Cruisers are essentially Copy & Pastes of each other with very minor twists and there were some Feds complaining of the superiority of the Qib when DR released. But that got drowned out because of all the ships and attention the Feds got. Not to mention they have Reciprocity to throw into the equation to fix everything.

I have one character with the Fleet Vor'Cha. 100% Vor'Cha appearance for me
I would have given out more Fleet Vor'Chas for my KDF characters but 4 FSMs is way too much to do that.
QIb is a very nice cruiser for dealing with smaller mobs, it's got all of the best parts of the K'Tinga, the Eclipse, and BoPs.
Mogh is powerful but no longer really the best.
IN other words:
Mat'Ha is a fleet QIn but better in every possible way.
QIb is a K'Tinga but better in every way and has a battlecloak.
Mogh is a tankier, less firepowerful little brother to the Mat'Ha. I like the Mat'Ha more myself.
