I found this on facebook posted on the author's account Bob Bennetzen. it's a great read and tribute to Leonard Nimoy.

So I figure most people know about the passing of Mr. Leonard Nimoy. He certainly wasn't just in StarTrek in his acting career but it's what he's best known for as well as also what he had stayed active in through out his life.

The original Series of StarTrek was corny as hell and seemingly silly at points, (see tribbles) but it was much more then just that. StarTrek was an exploration of space, and life, and the condition of beingor existing, whether it was in being human in the future when we humans do touch the stars, (and yes that will happen, The Human race will be a space Civilization one day) or being a made up race like Vulcans or Klingons or any of the other countless races.
StarTrek was and continues to be a canvas of art either on TV or Movies or the numerous Books, Blogs, and currently the Massively multiplayer online role-playing game Called Star Trek Online.

StarTrek was ground breaking in that it was inclusive of anyone and any belief. Skin Color didn't matter, race didn't matter at all. In fact Martin Luther King enjoyed the show and it was one of the few shows he allowed his children to watch.

Here was a Bridge crew that was made up of a Scotsman Mr. Scott (Chief Engineer), a Russian Mr. Chekov (Bridge Officer and Pilot), Americans Captain Kirk, Mr. Bones (Chief Medical Officer) From the united states of africa (seems that's something that happened in the future as currently it doesn't exist) Lieutenant Uhura (Communications officer), an Asian Mr. Sulu (Bridge Officer and Pilot), a Vulcan Mr. spock (2nd officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise under Captain also known as XO.)

It was a brief look at what we as humans can become if we put down are petty differences, skin color, and hitting each other over the head with our religions. United as one race. The Human Race. Mr. Nimoy saw that and it's why he continued to be apart of StarTrek til his death. Leonard Nimoy understood what he did as Mr. Spock, a writer and a director of StarTrek. He inspired many people to work for NASA and other space agencies to help mankind reach the stars and his life will still inspire into the future.

He will be greatly missed by millions and millions of people. whether you were or are a trekkie or not. Your life has been touched by this actor, and this World is a little less bright for his loss.

Signed,
Bob Bennetzen
