When you are stuck with "endgame", the current XP-Weekend feels more like "this should be the numbers when you normally play". 7k for a patrol, 5k for an advanced map (endrewards only), this is about right. Now, halving those numbers and what you get is whats normal... not really a nice thought.
I still dont think Doffing should be more rewarding than actually playing the queues (or patrols), but I guess such thoughs will only lead to nerfing doffing...

Even with this Double XP the rewards are less than what we used to get.
Strange is putting it mildly. It's as though the devs have masked a large nerf with an xp-weekend. When the bonus weekend is gone it seems like stfs and missions won't be giving much of anything in the way of xp.

Are we even getting an experience boost? I keep seeing them say XP and experience, but the actual article says that it's just Skill points and Expertise, not experience.

Yep... I had held out hopes that the changes to patrols (30 min CD), and the increase in XP rewards in other areas, would actually result in giving players more options on where they obtained XP...
In effect, this has happened, however, the end result is an overall significant XP gain nerf...
Just did a couple of Crystalline Advanced and received (with the XP weekend bonus) about 5.5k (give or take) Spec Points upon completion... Given I was receiving about 1.8k (give or take) before the patch, this is barely an increase in XP of about 30%...
Where as Delta patrols have had their completion rewards halved, along with the addition of a 30 min CD...
Granted Dilithium has been added to virtually all activities, these changes are a clear, significant and undeniable nerf to XP however you look at this...

Disappointed to say this, but this is exactly how this looks to myself also... I had hoped it was a way to encourage people to explore other avenues for gaining XP after the 30min CD was added to patrols, but frankly, it does feel as if it was a means to try and mask a clear XP nerf, for at least another few days...

That's pretty much exactly what they did.
And once the XP event is finished, they'll probably have another event lined up in the hopes of distracting people. Again, unless it's changed recently, my in-game calender says something about the Crystalline Catastrophe event coming back soon.
Yeah, as cool as it will be to fly around in the larger, connected maps, there are already people theorizing that this will be a massive nerf to Doffing.
Because we just can't have nice things without Cryptic taking something else away in exchange.
"There will never be enough blood to wash away my need for vengeance! A single world...I could destroy a million worlds and it would not be enough! Your existence is an insult to the memory of my people! I will continue my fight, even if I must fight alone!"

Thats a gift to us so we can rant twice: First now, and then after the weekend, when everybody has to see they have been nerfed.

That's quite a sad but also true assessment of the overall situation of the game. Would be nice if they'd finally give the nerf-bat a rest but I guess that's not an option for them.
I tested out the increased SP reward in Undine Infiltration Elite yesterday after the patch.
- Killing of ground critter grants 17 SP in elite mode.
- SP reward for successful completion for this match was ~5300 SP in elite mode
Those rewards would indeed seem as an in increase if it hadnt been for skill point weekend where I got them which make the whole communication of mister Gray about game improvements close to absurd.
You are also right about doff assignments. The rewards gained there for zero efforts are in no correlation compared to means to gain SP in active gameplay now.
As far as a future nerf to doffing is concerned I remain somewhat curious. Daily log in numbers seem to be one of those very very few magnitudes cryptic actually cares about. Depending how much they nerf that it could cripple them. I guess we find out sooner or later with the awesomely announced sector revamp.
For me it will be of no consequence. My 8 toons each will have 1 primary and 1 secondary tree filled by then even with a few points to spare. 95% for the needed skill points for that I got out of the doff system and I dont intend to make new toons in this game again. A constant release of more and more skill trees also dont hold much interest in me because there is hardly enough motivating contend around to back them up or try them out.

Personally, after my play session last night, I still feel like even with the Double-XP Weekend, we're still not getting enough XP.
You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.
What are mission replay's giving? While playing on elite, i'm getting a good amount for completing new missions, but that really seems to be the only noticeable place I'm getting a boost still. Kills and doffing really doesn't seem to be doing much more than usual for me.
I do feel like it is a bit of a joke when they say the queues have 3x amount of sp now, but they're still not a viable way to level during a double sp weekend.
Because we just can't have nice things without Cryptic taking something else away in exchange.
The apologists defend Cryptic's every nerf to their dying breath, but that sentiment perfectly captures the general sentiment I feel whenever I hear some grand new thing announced. They can't seem to add anything new without also using the opportunity to yank something of greater value away at the same time. It sure does make it difficult to get genuinely excited about anything.

And also seem to have short term memory issues becuase they seem to forget the time before the change was made.

It does kill excitement when it seems there is less and less you can actually do in the game.
I can't comment for anyone else, but this XP weekend has done me the world of good. I was leveling a new character, and thanks to this weekend, he's at level #50 already flying his Fleet Excelsior. He was (I think) at the high end of level #20 before I started this weekend, so I'm not complaining.
I can understand how this weekend event might feel like a loss to those already at #60, but then the weekend might have been targeted toward new players to help them level up, or to people with lower-level characters (again, to help them level up). Not everything is about level #60 characters, nor should it be.

Yep, for new characters, this weekend is great... A Talaxian I've been messing around with has been skipping 2-3 levels per episode...
My 60 however has barely noticed a difference in XP gain outside of Doff assignments...
I was cool with the addition of a CD to patrols, as I understood Cryptic didn't want people grinding Argala until their eyes bleed, but I don't think Cryptic got the XP rewards balanced anywhere near correctly...
This is only emphasised by the fact I can run Japori in a third of the time that I can run Argala and yet, I receive more XP and dilithium from Japori, as Argala's XP completion reward was halved, along with many other quick Delta patrols...

I have decided to go out commenting on this thread. It sort of sums up everything for me. Yes, OP...it has been strange playing this weekend. I've felt something I haven't felt since the DR changes/nerfs...progression.
I was going to drydock for a bit and come back but I got in some game time this weekend. My main and my alts all had progression. And it was fun. Then I reminded myself that this state of rewarding is not permanent and then I got really bummed out. This weekend has felt like the STO I know and am fond of.
But here's something I keep seeing over and over again: the players have an issue concerning rewards of some sort and reward changes get promised. The end result has been, over and again even pre-DR, that the player expereince, is a nerf. The only, *ONLY* semi-positive change was distributing dil throughout the game but even that had a cost. The took so much from us at Delta Rising that it killed the stfs and pugging.
I've been playing forever, since the beginning but in the last year or so, there is a consistently repeated pattern: complain, Cryptic claims to "listen" and they give us a shadow of what's being asked for, nearly a mockery. And always, always it's hidden within some "new" system.
So, based on repeated nerf after nerf, quoted comments and watching events unfold, as I head on my way, I give you one serious piece of advice: ask for nothing. Tell Cryptic nothing. Outside of cool art and stories, when it comes to mechanics or rewards of any kind, Cryptic is gonna put it to the players. The people who run the thing aren't actually interested in making a game that's fun, they are only interested in making systems that are designed to take your money. That's it. Period.
It's not all of Cryptic by any means. There are fantastic artists, storytellers and designers who work on STO. But it's just the shell when it comes to the player's perspectives, sadly. Bows and ribbons on a hollow cash-sucking machine.
If you guys truly want a better gaming experience in STO, let those precious metrics tell them what they want to see. Stop helping them hose the players time and time and time again with saying one thing and having it turn out the exact opposite of what was desired.
Or, if you're loving how they operate, spend more and more until they suck you dry. That's what STO is designed to do.

well, actualy it is faster to bring lvl 1 char to lvl 50 than to bring lvl 50 char to 60 .
so engame lvl realy sucks.

Change XP... Right as they start an XP weekend.
There is a reason... and its simple. They fully understand how stupid and annoying there system is.
They hope people will get on the forums or say to each other, "Yes this feels right now."
They think we are all suckers.
Its interesting what Cryptic thinks of our collective intelligence.
