T6 Interl ships for Rom and KDF - Science, where?

jackjomarjackjomar Member Posts: 2 Arc User
Hey folks.

I remember during the release of the delta pack that there were rumblings RE the lack of science vessels for Rom and KDF at T6, but that these were going to be developed for this pack to round out the set for those two factions.

I've got some science characters for these factions on my account, but unlike my fed-side chars, these romulan and klink chars are lacking in any T6 science ship to speak of, and are currently using T5 or T5-U (where my wallet can afford it).

Is there any sort of ETA for the Rom and KDF T6 intel Sci vessels?
Or have these been completely dropped? :-/

KDF, Rom, and Science ship do not belong in the same sentence.

Only exception is as follows: "I like fighting the KDF and RR in my science ship." - Fed player. :D

Kinda like Bird of Preys, really.

"I like fighting the Feds in my BoP" - KDF player.

    Or like Battle Cloak.

"I like fighting Feds in my Battle Cloaked ship" - KDF or ROM player.

The KDF doesn't need a Science Vessel. It needs a Tier 6 BOP and a Tier 6 Carrier. Those were the ship classes that made the KDF unique.

My favorite sci alt is in a palisade. The Palisade is better than any KDF sci ship.

Looking at the numbers Cryptic gave us in the year 5 infographic, 27% of toons are KDF or Rom and 21% are Sci. This means we can expect 5.6% of toons to be KDF or Rom science captains, IF sci are just as likely to be Rom and KDF as any other career, which I seriously doubt. Rom attracts Tac captains because Rom-tac is OP, and from what I see in my KDF fleet people like the idea of being KDF Tac a lot more than any other career.

And then there's the question of play time. 16% of toons might be KDF, but how many of those have long been forgotten as KDF fans left the game and Fed players forgot their KDF alts? Same with sci, what with this game turning into a DPS race and it's easier to get high dps on a tac.

So the percent of Rom or KDF sci toons online at any given moment compared to other careers and factions is probably way smaller than 5.6%, and then you have to divide that number further because Rom and KDF sci can't use the same T6 ships.

So how much money can Cryptic make from a new Rom sci ship compared to yet another Fed cruiser or escort? Probably not much, although I still agree that putting one out would be a nice thing to do considering they sell the game on the basis of there being 3 factions and 3 careers.

Of course, you know the only solution for that is to give Starfleet a T6 BOP & a T6 Carrier.

    Because $.
