i keep hearing that on tribble is a 1hr timegate now to run patrols. this means it will take me instead of 2 months to get to 60, probably 4-6-8 per character. why isnt anyone talking about this??
Unless this is actually on Tribble or in upcoming patch notes, it's just a rumor with no basis in fact.
Give us something other than, "well, I heard someone talk about it."
I have played on Tribble and can confirm that you can no longer run Argala back to back. Additionally, the spec points you gain from an Argala run are significantly reduced, and you now need to choose between bonus spec points or Delta marks.
HOWEVER
I've been informed by other Tribble testers that they have boosted the spec points you get from some of the other areas of the game (Battlezones specifically, but it's possible other areas got a spec boost as well), and, as always, it's possible that any of the above is subject to change before hitting Holodeck.
"There will never be enough blood to wash away my need for vengeance! A single world...I could destroy a million worlds and it would not be enough! Your existence is an insult to the memory of my people! I will continue my fight, even if I must fight alone!"
No one is talking about it because there's no reason to care. I imagine very few people know how to access Tribble to begin with, let alone how to identify bugs and issues, and the general consensus nowadays is that, unfortunately, any criticism or user thoughts would seem to be totally ignored. It's not impacting anybody immediately and as far as they may know, Tribble is just some test server where things aren't guaranteed to be final.
So any valuable feedback ends up being more or less discarded because there simply isn't enough of it to gauge a decent opinion from the player base, which ends up leading to loads of issues when a faulty patch goes live because very few people bothered to test it which means that 'well, only a few people had issues about such and such, everything else is okay for launch.'
Not helped is that Tribble also includes loads of exclusive dev magic-tier incentives, such as instant level 60, a heaping of spec points for free, among other things which ultimately grant very little reason to test any sort of quality-of-life concerns from the average player perspective, since even an average player can be immediately tossed at endgame status there. And since reputation\level progression is basically meaningless on Tribble, no one plays the queues because any success is absolutely meaningless, and rule of pugs among the dedicated players says that you don't pug whenever possible. Essentially, this means that, say, a change to NPC resistances, which might test well to the developers never get any live fire testing with players and their builds. And, unfortunately, if they do, it's to the hardened core player who already has a dedicated ship built for stomping what little PvE content they'll get to experience.
You'll never get to really check in the economics of a chance in EC values, how the dilithium market will change with dil being added as a regular mission reward, because no one is going to care enough to investigate such things properly until the changes have already hit holodeck, and by then all that people will do is rush to the forums and complain en-masse about how Craptic is ruining their precious Star Trek in a manner that the criticism has to be discarded because, when laden with name-calling and personal attacks, you can't really take someone's opinion seriously.
I mean, there's a difference between saying "The Voyager model doesn't look quite right" versus "how the hell did you idiots TRIBBLE up the Voyager model".
If they bring this to holo-deck then they will kill off the only thing i still grind on xp week-end and saves me lots off time.
I already went from playing 16 hours a day to just 1 (doffs and r&d) on normal days.
They will make it easy for me to play other games...

...and after completion, no option to do the patrol again - no timer - nada...
...well then...hrmmmm.
Did folks sit there with a stopwatch waiting for the patrol window to pop back up?
I'm in tribble right now, just did a patrol of argala and left, as soon as i was out, the window came up to patrol again and let me in, i didnt see any cooldown timer...
unless its affecting the team mode of the actual patrol mission that encompasses argala in it but im not hanging around in there, things to do in holodeck, so im outta there...

When I left, there was nothing there - just the planet. I flew to a couple of nearby patrols and back again...nothing there.
I am against this change. This seems like a half-assed way to cover for the fact that they are incapable of creating a reward system that fairly compensates players for difficulty and time investment. It's the same half-assed system they use in STFs, which I was also against from the beginning. Set up your rewards to reflect the time investment, not the gated rate at which you think players ought to be playing.
Nothing is worth grinding for, ever. If getting to 60 requires several months, so what? We were perfectly good at level 50, and we still are. And our XII stuff is still perfectly good. You don't need any of the new shiny stuff. It really is just that simple.
In fact, all 3 of my Starfleet characters are still 51, and 52. And they all are still using XII fleet gear. And I don't plan for that to change any time soon. If I do gain a level here and there, goody for me. But I have no intentions to grind anything. Sorry, everyone. But it is simply NOT going to happen.

Argala was a nifty little place to test stuff. You had the Jen sphere nearby to hit up a ship selector, the bank, etc for making changes...meh. If I were grinding SP, I'd hit the next sector down.
But getting ship mastery still requires endless Argala runs. Do yourself a massive favour, and don't bother. Just don't. If getting your ship mastery takes a month, at least you were able to have genuine fun along the way.

Had forgotten about the Mastery stuff, lol - but how many folks are just buying a ship for the trait - so they don't want to have to spend a month in it, yeah?
You would be surprised, or baffled, or facepalming. But people did sink hundreds of dollars on the Intel Pack, just for the ship traits. And then, they bought the Command Pack, just for the ship traits. And then, they spent the entire day running Argala ON EACH OF THEIR CHARACTERS, just for the ship traits.
And the simple fact of the matter is that you don't need to do any of that. And quite frankly, you shouldn't be doing that. Don't waste your money. Don't waste your life.
Just find a ship that you like, and stay with it. I myself am still using the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought I got more than a year ago, with exactly the same weapons and gear.
Now, if you want to send me a bunch of tech upgrades for free (Next crafting weekend?), then I'll use them as soon I can be bothered to get enough dilithium TO use them. Otherwise, my ship and gear is perfectly good as-is. And so is yours.
Hrmm, I actually want the Fed 3pack of Command ships (though I want to play the game less each day, so it's not a want I've acted on) - because one of my favorite ships to fly was actually the Marauder (thus the campaigning done for years to get a Fleet version of it, along with a Fleet D'Kyr and Fleet Guramba for those folks - since they're the only 3 T5 Zen boats without a Fleet variant).
Sure, I grabbed a Phantom for Reciprocity - but Intel all in all just didn't really interest me enough to bother with those line of ships. But the Command boats, yeah, that's along the lines of what I was looking for...which is funny, in a sense, given all the "love" players have shown toward Intel and all the "hate" shown to Command.
But with that 3pack, I don't really want to fly all three of the ships - just want to fly the Sci, it's just a case of wanting the buy 2 get 1 free pack to be able to dork around with the stuff from them as well...
...which means I'll be doing the Mastery on two boats I'm going to dismiss so I can fly the boat I want to fly while having access to the traits of the other two if I want to goof around with them at any time.
Yeah, I totally didn't even think about what this would mean for that - cause I don't bother grinding for SP, it happens when it happens - but the Mastery stuff for ships I don't want to fly to get stuff for the ship I do...hrmm, going to need to think about how I feel about that.
Course, the Mastery stuff is so easy to get...could probably just fly around in circles killing stuff in the Undine zone.

I tried that. Be prepared to be disappointed. Of course, it may be different if it gets a buff. But will it be like Argala? I think we all know that answer.
I have no doubt this will make it's way to Holodeck.. and soon.
It's typical Cryptic strategy.. find what works for the players and nerf it.
I completely and totally expect this to come to Live this Thursday...and without ANY kind of patch note explaining it, either (or at most, talking about this 'new amazing system' and not the nerf connected to it.
There's a reason why it wasn't mentioned in the PTS notes - because they knew the players would be very unhappy about it.
Oh no, you'll have to fly to a different system and run a patrol there instead. Tragic.
You do realize the reason why people did Argala (and Gerren) was because it took 5 (and 2) minutes to run through, right? There is no better experience to time ratio anywhere in the game. And people think even those zones aren't fast enough for specialization points.
Oh no, you'll have to fly to a different system and run a patrol there instead. Tragic.
That's a level 50 zone, unfortunately. Still, like I said, there are other patrols. Mastery goes so fast that it might as well not exist, IMO.
all of the delta zone is on that 1 hour cooldown. if you do the shuttle race you can nto do any thing else int he delta area for an hour of you do argala you can not do any thing else int he area for an hour, ect, ect

the delta area is now going to be a ghost town
Hopefully they coded it so that it does not interfere with any of the missions that you unlock the patrols for the first time with. Otherwise, you're looking at people having to play 4 hours just to finish those.

You are correct, I had one of the patrol missions still and didn't realize this. Confirmed. You can still run Tau Dewa patrols while Delta are on cooldown.
On the bright side, this might bring some life to the queues. Probably the intent?

Well, I can confirm it has no impact when you have one of the patrol wrapper missions. All the missions will be available to start.
those missions have a different enter system message that take you to the same map so they should not be effected but this kills my alts even more then they where as grinding them to level cap to play the content is stupid and i refuse to do it as it is if this goes live i highly doubt i will even log in more then maybe once a week and that would just to talk with fleet mates and the starfleet battles channel

no i'm getting this direct from tribble players.

Cryptic makes this game a war against them for any semblance of fun. If players find a rewarding path, Cryptic will take it away.
Some things never change.
