Stacking the same consoles vs using unique consoles

In reference to tactical consoles, is it better to stack the same console for say...disruptors...rather than have two unique disruptor consoles and two unique beam consoles?

My thought was to have disruptor dual beam banks up front and disruptor cannon turrets in the rear and then stack all disruptor bonus consoles in all 5 tactical console slots.

Or would it just be better to run disruptor beam weapons all around and have two unique disruptor bonus consoles and two unique beam bonus consoles?

Thanks for your feedback in advance.

There are really only 2 base types:

    all weapon type
    or
    all damage type.

The all weapon type, for say "all beams" would boost you if you had, for example, one disruptor beam and one plasma beam. But those do A LOT LESS bonus than the other type.

The other type boosts a damage class, for example disruptors. This would work on both beams or cannons (it is generally better not to mix them, but dbb/turrets is a mix of beams and cannons, turrets are cannon).

There is no "disruptor beam" console that I know of.

What most folks do is use FLEET consoles of the damage type, here, fleet disruptor consoles, as those get a secondary bonus to crit or crit damage (2 types to pick from!). If you can't use those, use pure disruptor consoles.

If you can afford it and are higher level, consider using a crafted 360 beam for disruptor. You might also consider using the "kinetic cutting beam" omega rep item. The third, and maybe 4th aft weapons... turrets or a mine/torp are all you can really do.

The only good reason right now to run [+Beam] consoles is you're running a 'Plasma doping' build, where [+Beam] consoles combined Plasma Generating/[+Pla] Fleet Embassy consoles results in very high plasma DoT numbers. The devs are aware of this and a fix is incoming 'Soon(tm)', and so is only worth investing in if you're OK with it being nerfed later on.

Tac consoles don't have a stacking penalty, each one gives the same damage to your weapons, no matter how many you put on, so don't bother if that was what was your goal.

Hull resistances have a stacking penalty for Eng consoles and powers, but that is per resist, not per console type and can't be gotten around by using different consoles.

Thanks for the replies. If there's no penalty for stacking the same consoles, then the best thing to do is run all Disruptor bonus consoles and drop the beam bonus ones. After that's done, replace the rear disruptor beam banks with disruptor canon turrets to get the 360 arc and have all rear weapons brought to bear on a frontal target. No brainer. I have some work to do with upgrades. But thankfully it's just on 3 aft beam banks. I already have the one rear 360 beam that's allowable, so that can stay.

    Again...thanks.

Which ship are you running? I had assumed Mat'ha since you mentioned 5 Tac consoles, but that doesn't fit your aft mountings. There's a slight loss of synergy with traditional Tactical abilities if you're running beams fore but turrets aft, not huge, but a loss of damage none the less. One aft should be the Kinetic Cutting Beam from the Omega Rep along with the Assimilated Module somewhere in consoles for the rather nice two-piece set proc.

damage type tactical consoles will always be better. Reputation and fleet damage type consoles have diversity, multiple effects, and the flexibility to be used with any weapon type. i.e: beams, cannons, heavy canons, turrets, ect...

    I personally like to stack
Vulnerability Locater: +1.6% Critical Hit chance
Vulnerability Exploiter: +8% Critical Severity bonus

The dyson rep is nice if your using a dyson ship and poleron weapons, it costs lots of dil though
hope this answers your question. :)

Fleet K'tinga Battlecruiser T5-U. Currently equipped with all Mk XIV Epic everything. I have the Kinetic cutting beam, but am not using it. I have the omni direction disruptor beam aft with three beam banks. All four slots up front are dual beam banks. No torpedos.

As for Disruptor = Locators only +Dis make sure your running APB (attack pattern beta) get your crit damage from the weapons themselves (CrtD)

4 locators- crtd3+ weapons and APB = you win button in PVE
