DHC Baratam

I bought a Baratam, my previous ship was a T5U D'Deridex so i had it full of beam (corrosive plasma).
After taking the Baratam for a tour i noted that its turn rate was "good", 17,5 approx (with 2 RCS) and i tought if could be a good ideas to put DHC Plasma in the front // turrets + Cuting array in the rear.

What do you think, would be good for PVE? i guess that i could add another RCS if i need it.

Yeah, the Command Cruisers work OK with cannons, at least IMO. I've got one with the two-set bonus (Command console and Samsar console, which basically gives one Fleet RCS [ResAll]) and a pair of Fleet Neutronium [Turn] with KHG/AMACO engines and it performs well with DHCs for me. I wouldn't recommend doing 'passes' where you need to turn around quickly, but slowing down to half-impulse or slower to make tighter works well, as does flipping in reverse and just wail on them as they come towards you, or sit-and-spam with Maneuvering Thrusters II Pilot Spec.

The Command Cruisers have decent Inertia rating, so you don't have to worry about them sliding around much, unlike a boosted turnrate D'D or Scimitar.

You can always buy some inexpensive DHCs and install them on your ship to determine if the 17.5 turn rate is good enough to use them. If you believe that it is good enough for you then go ahead an purchase / craft the DHCs that you really want to use.

I have a KDF toon that used to fly the T5 Mirror Negh'Var Battle Cruiser and I toyed around with the idea of using DHCs on it. I managed to get the turn rate up to something like 21.5, but I found it to be a bit lacking. Part of that had to do with the inertia rating of only 25 compared to something like 60 that a Bird of Prey has. The low inertia rating meant that the overall maneuverability felt a bit sluggish to effectively use DHC in my opinion. Perhaps if I was able to somehow push the turn rate close to 30 then that would make DHCs more viable for my expectations. I decided to keep my beam array and dual beam banks for that ship.

To really boost your turn rate I suggest you look into the ultra rare Conductive RCS Accelerator Mk XII [Turn] console. This console can be crafted in the new crafting system or you can purchase it from the Exchange. It increases your turn rate by 85%; each mark above Mk XII gives an extra 5% bonus so an ultra rare Mk XIV version increases the turn rate by 95%. The Epic version give 5% more than ultra rare so an Epic Conductive RCS Accelerator Mk XIV [Turn] increases the base turn rate by 100% which means a ship with a turn rate of 8 gets boosted to 16 with this console. Only one Conductive RCS Accelerator can be install on a ship.

Needless to say these consoles are rather expensive. I have seen the ultra rare Mk XII version sell for 10 million EC or more. The lowest price I've seen for the Epic Mk XIV is 45 million EC.

What? Why? What do you have that is competing for Engineering console spots so heavily on a 11 console ship? Scimitar is slower turning and has much worse inertia, and would be a much harder to run DHCs on, even with RCS stacking and Undine engines.

Depends on individual player play style. I prefer something better than the base turn rate modified by the impulse thrusters skills
