Cryptic's poll=patronizing players

Hey Cryptic what happened to the last poll you know the one where pvp placed higher than a boff overhaul? or crafting?

Cryptic has not listen to what players want in years and i highly doubt this poll will change anything i suggest they stop acting like they have any intention of listening to us considering according to Geko 2015 is already planned

As I said already in the thread, voting is useless. They'll go the way they want.

Maybe Q will ban Smirk for his insolence and attempt to actually give the paying customers what they want.

They are lol. But yeah they will do what they feel like doing when they want too. Its just like with the KDF they said the feds would *NEVER* get carriers. As well that the consoles from the lower tier ships would be specific and unique to their given faction. Then recently or when flanking was discussed they said bops/raiders will be exclusive to the KDF. So along with this patronizing of the player base you expect a federation bird of prey to be released this year along with enhanced battle cloaks on them and then after that they will put in crafting where you can use energy weapons why cloaked on these feddie bops for another pay wall and cash grab.

All I can see them doing is trying their best to force players to quit playing lol.

You know what's patronizing? This thread! You all want Cryptic to fix PvP, but all you can do is complain and whine about how broken things are within the game. Cryptic's running out of things to revamp and they are going to do PvP eventually. Now is not the time to complain; now's the time to offer them constructive feedback to help them develop PvP in a positive direction. Enough crying about how wronged the PvP community is and become part of the solution. Alright?

Pls, let's all share ideas, feedback and suggestions. The more the better. If cryptic finally decides to ask for help, we should be ready to help.

    Maybe our day is coming...

There seems to be acknowledgement of our issues and a lot of people are calling to changes to the PvE meta, which will only (theoretically) help us.

Are you all so disillusioned about the possibility of improvement to PvP that you can't even fathom that there might be a hope within the next year? Activating Cannon Rapid Fire + Beam Overload whenever a dev shows up on the forums with even the idea for PvP improvement will only make said dev use Reverse Shield Polarity and Feedback Pulse...before going back to something else.

hehe, what's my excuse? I've been around since March 25, 2012, which is just as long as most PvPers. I can see a chance at a PvP revamp here soon and with all this hate the devs may just decide to work on something less hostile.

"Cryptic! Why do you never listen to us? You never ask us what we want! You shouldn't ignore the forums!"

"Okay, here's a poll - tell us what you want! Right here! In an official poll!"

"What!? Why would we ever tell you what we want? You don't listen anyway!"

    "But you just-"

"Same old Cryptic, TRIBBLE the playerbase and ignoring its most vocal group."

    "But we have this poll-"

    "It's patronizing!"

exactly how many YEARS of being passed over and ignored and only negatively reenforced is reasonable before its understandable that we cant fathom that there might be a hope within the next year? 5? more then 5?

they dont show up to asking to work with them, we would gladly if they genuinely wanted to do anything for pvp. we only get told we are mean for reacting negatively to their neglect and sabotage of pvp with every update.

LOL, the last poll, also from 2012, had pvp on it. everything on that poll has got attention since then, but pvp and exploration. it was put out of our misery, but now there's a fervor to dig up that dead horse and start beating on it. what did that poll do for us? NOTHING. whats pvp on another poll supposed to mean, especially when they, on purpose, put 'pvp ques' instead of pvp balance, or pvp anything else. they sabotage the category into this useless false choice. if we're lucky, we will get shuttle cap and hold.

don't come here and judge us pve'ers, you always get what you want.

dear forum posters that accuse pvpe'ers of being non constructive/"new poll"/yaddayadda:

as that polls' question regarding pvp is asked totally wrong from a statistics pov the outcome regarding pvp is kinda worthless.
and i think that is one of the major concerns regarding it. they state that they will do something about (again... and again and...).
they did for years and then dropped it in whole allover. now they come to state that again. and what comes next?
no asking for feedback (xcept bort) but a poll that contains a question many people in the poll-thread said about "they would vote for pvp, but not for more q's" (no talk about the mass of pvp'ers that left due to their progression policy, in particular pvp-progression).
many of those picked other votings. and we should trust them now, as what they do (again... and again and....) not goes align with what they state?

.... yeah sure, not holding my breath...

and regarding the feedback: they got a whole subforum full of excellent feedback on what could be alterered/need fixes/etc.. given over years and yet got ignored...
by now they mostly can dig through it themselves or hire and pay forumites to do so imho!

don't get me wrong: i support every single dev-comm with players who are interested in making pvp better, but i can't see a real effort or decent outcome yet.
xcept for ionic (and neut ts). what is kinda funny, as it got labelled to wai not too long ago!
on the other hand the forums not seemed as busy as nowadays for a long time in a positive manner. can see that.

as said: i appreciate if they go for pvp, but i see no reason to not remind them on what they screwed up over years. that's not my problem, it's theirs. i did not TRIBBLE up anything.
ever heard of: "fool me once, fool me twice"?!.... fool me twenty to two hundred times?!?!

so, i'm not holding my breath. but i think we "all" are crossing our fingers (again... and again and...). and i see no reason they could ignore our negativity, as they made it to ignore our positivity for so long before. constructive feedback can come in many colors, one only has to read it out.
at least that would be professional!

Two primary concerns about the poll:

    1. A similar poll has been done before. Yeah, so they were asking for user feedback. Okay, that was good. In it, PvP ended up somewhere in the middle. However, what we see is that things that were below PvP on the list were apparently given priority over PvP. Hence the lack of trust that this poll will change anything for us.

    2. The poll's PvP option is itself vague and unspecific. More PvP queues? What does that mean? Queues with the option to restrict equips, specializations etc.? Or more queues like Shuttle PvP that seem interesting on the surface but end up pointless because of a lack of commitment to balance?

All in all, an almost meaningless option that could no doubt be perceived as a mere attempt at patronizing.

*Note the word "perceived". I no longer care particularly one way or another, but this is the premise the critics have, and I feel that it's a valid one.

Actually Tira the devs would be more likely to use some cheese consoles they created. It's more likely they would hit the undine subspace rupture along with that hirogen feign death console :P

there are any number of reasons why we're dis-illusioned, majortiraomega. There have been Devs in the past that stepped up, and tried working with us, and did working with us. Every single one, hit a brick wall at Cryptic and wound up working somewhere else.

Developers, Community Managers, designers-every single time someone from Cryptic has come in here and honestly worked with us, they've ended up gone, and the work they did with us ends up being reversed with the problems multiplied.

    Every. Single. Time.

People in PvP loved Adjudicatorhawk-even when he came bearing bad news, for a while, there WAS hope...

and then the announcement was made that he'd 'found other opportunities' and was gone.
I know, it is frustrating to see the devs that help us leave. AdjudicatorHawk was just the latest of the devs that have left after helping make fixes to PvP. We can't forget that it was BorticusCryptic AND AdjudicatorHawk working together that got those changes put through in the end.
    patrickngo wrote: »
TBH I don't know if Borticus was serious, or just trolling us when he came in here to take ownership of the idea of buffing hitpoints globally in PvP instances, but the idea was so far from dealing with ANYTHING that is on the list of problems, and his tone was so...injured, and victimized sounding, that it's clear he hasn't even lowered himself to playing any of the existing PvP content, much less spent time trying to either know the community, or know the mechanics of the systems he talked geko into letting him test.

Ignorance can be overlooked, if there is a willingness to learn, to participate, to communicate-and there have been Devs in the past that were willing to do those things.

    But...

Every single one of them, ended up leaving-either the game, or the company, usually with some effort they'd begun left unfinished.

y'know, like they'd been fired or something.

Among most of the Vets, who've watched this cycle happen, there is no hope left, because the unspoken is that any dev that DOES want to work with us, is going to end up fired.

Borticus posting on the forum, my very first thought was to ask him if he'd already cleaned out his desk and updated his resume. His second post pretty much sealed the deal that he wasn't here to work with us, he was just trolling.
BorticusCryptic has been helping the PvP community actively for at least the last two years. He's done a lot for PvP and he has continued to help whenever he can. The biggest reason I ranted here on this thread is Borticus is actively trying to help improve the quality of life for PvP and all certain individuals can do is berate his ideas. If you were working on the STO team and you helped the PvP playerbase for 2+ years would you want to continue to do so if all the players did was show you hostility when you brought up new ideas?

Anything cryptic adds to the game will follow the F2P model. Mind-numbing, time-gated grind... with an easy way to pay your way around. F2P is destroying the genre (MMORPG) and it won't get better until people stop playing the games long enough to make a dent in the balance sheets. I have personally sworn them off just because the F2P mandated grind has killed the fun in every MMORPG I have attempted to play in the last 3 years. It's what you're gonna get regardelss of whether or not they pay any attention to the poll.

    I loved STO, I can't stomach what it's become.

what's the matter cryptic.. getting desperate? I haven't missed this game in over 3 months and I come back (not really, just reading some posts) and find a poll to vote for pvp? what did you guys do with the last poll where pvp was very high on the list and nothing was done? huh? well, I am not going to believe you this time either. you guys are liars

You guys need to take away everything.. and I mean everything you have added in the last 2 years to at least make pvp respectable again... why the hell do you think pvpers in the game choose "vanilla ships" and have vanilla matches? because everything you added made pvp a joke.

    get a clue!!!

FEEL THE PAIN OF MY LACK OF BUYING ANYTHING CRYPTIC.. FEEL IT!!!!!

over 400 votes for pvp in a game in which was invested exactly zero for pvp.

lets say everyone hates pvp and would have got zero votes....that still doesnt explain broken consoles and power creep. How much dps and broken p2w traits you need for exploration?
