The option "More PvP Queues" is skewing the poll in my belief. There's no point in more queues as long as the system is broken and people know that so they'll pick something else. => Result skewed and does not display actual player wish.
Cryptic your result would be more valid if you had put "balance PvP" instead. But hey.... guess that's your way of excusing yourself for not doing it (and not wanting it). So you can just say "we had a poll, people don't want PvP". Just with the tiny flaw that the poll itself is "manipulated".
the poll is addressing issues in which it already knows about but wants to give a token voice for the community that will be discarded after its done, in addition to being a distraction. if cryptic are as predictable as they have been in the past, its more then likely they already have plans in place well before this poll existed and in knowing what the players want. since PVP is a dead horse, that wont be touched but exploration got ripped out and players were unhappy about losing that aspect last year, i wouldnt be surprised if cryptic already have a new exploration system incoming in a few months from now, after the summer event, perhaps within another major expansion.
problem is that player hopes are hyped up by cryptic rhetoric and ultimately players give cryptic a loaded gun, inevitably they shoot the players in the foot with it and laugh. if they have an exploration system coming then it is very likely to be gated to dilithium in some form or another.
the poll is a waste of time as it asks the players nothing on what they really want, the obvious bug fixing, quality assurance and stuff like that. but they ignore the obvious and the distraction mentioned earlier is to mention what players want in the game in the hopes of pulling the rug up and sweeping a few more bugs and issues under the carpet while no one is noticing.

Agreed with OP. What we can do At least is to vote for PvP anyway to show we are not few,
And we are not.
Even primarily DPS people started to PvP out of boredom with grind and same pve maps all over.
While I agree that offering PvP queues as an option is not the needed solutuon to the PvP problems in STO, I think we need to be realistic - it's solid third on the poll and it always would have been third at most in this poll, next to exploration and storyline episodes. That's just the way this community rolls, those will always be more sought after.
So yeah, the PvP choice in the poll could have been worded better since there's no point in more queues while the balance is completely broken, but then again regardless however they'd formulate the choice, it still would have ended third at best with the other options offered.

Which means PvP will be first or second on their to do list. We all know what happens to the first place options on these polls. :P
You are probably right - and if so, it would be painfully disappointing for The Powers That Be to ignore what 1671 (at the time of this post) of their playerbase think.
it was already stated in effect that minority counts dont matter, if it works against steam charts and counts then the forum is in the same boat because only a few people venture out this far and who wants to listen to a vocal minority when the majority elsewhere want something else?

Don't overthink the poll options. "More PvP Queues" means as little or as much as "story missions" or "exploration missions.
Exploration missions - go to a planetary system, scan 5 anomalies, and warp out, could be an exploration mission. (It certainly was). Is that what people would want for exploration? Is that what we know from Star Trek? Nope.
Going into a planetary system, making first contact, resolving a conflict and warping out could be an exploration mission. (It almost was, except the conflict was "Kill all the Widrab here as the try to uncvoer artifacts of their 3rd Dynasty, with the name of alien being the only variable). That might be closer.
But what will it be?
And story mission? Is this just about continuing the DR and Iconian story line? Will it be more personal story (like, say, Mind Games) or will it be more a "big picture" type of thing like "Surface tensions". Will it include moral dilemmas and conflicts, wil it be "blow enemies up because they are evil and would do the same to us"?
Who knows? And I think people will not like all the possible interpretations the same.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
I don't think Cryptic are really interested in balancing PVP. To do that would probably cost them money, as to balance it, you would first have to make sure items in lockboxes, cstore and the lobistore are not usable in PVP.
Maybe if PVP had a separate server that you could copy you char over to, like tribble, but it is vanilla and everyone has access to the same ships, weapon loadouts and gear?
You fight over bragging rights and costumes, that have no bearing on actual stats.
Linking PVP to PVE in a f2p game, will always end up as p2w or don't play at all....

I disagree. I think a fair number of people wont read the Queues part, they'll just see PvP and automatically vote that in without thinking about it (if that's what they want). They'll probably just assume it means an overhaul of the system, rather than the (as stated) queues.

Yeah soon as I saw PvP in the poll I was excited then I saw they just were going to add more queues and I thought - meh. PvP needs a lot more then some new queues it needs a huge balance pass. They would need to dedicate an expansion to it and I don't see them doing that.

completely wrong.
That is not what balancing means.
There were always P2W c-store and Lobi items and game was pretty balanced.
With RnD and DR none of major bugs and issues were fixed, resulting in what we have now.
It's not even that P2W wins, or gold weapons, it's that some skills are so much overpowered that anyone can multikill people without any effort.
The Poll isn't meant to be specific. It's to get a feel for the general areas that most players want to see get developed in the future.
again you in everything pvp related with completely biased opinion.
Going by your fanboy "logic" people don't want Foundry and Fleet functionality at all.
And only 1/5 of people want new Story missions.
Congratulations, you "win".
most players wan't more patrol missions and doff assigments AKA "Exploration"
The Poll isn't meant to be specific. It's to get a feel for the general areas that most players want to see get developed in the future.
so they made the pvp option specific (just maps) while being generic in the others like exploration (whatever that means now), more episodes (that can mean a lot of things), more fleet functionality and more foundry functionality (both can mean a lot of things).
In general, IDK what lit your fire on this, but I think you're being incredibly unfair and bias. You don't like to PvP, that's cool and it's a valid opinion, but jeez man, you've taken issue with people voting for PvP. I understand a majority of people don't like to PvP, that's cool, but a majority of people don't play KDF or RR characters or do DPS league things, or play the foundry, among lots of other things.
I think the thing to take away here is that not only are people voting for PvP - but people are interested enough in PvP to start noticing that balance issues exist and other modes would be appreciated.
Meaning that, despite what a lot of people would have you believe, there is an interest in PvP. And, given the desolate state of PvP "development" over the past 5 years, I think PvP should be given it's chance to shine. A nice overhaul of mechanics would not only encourage new people to PvP, but would provide a healthy change to the PvE meta as well.

PvP balance
would have been my top pic
The current system cannot be balanced because every month a new trait/console /ship/broke item screws it up even more
10 second battles is not star trek
2 hour battles with green beams healing team mates is not star trek
cloaking and changing armor weapons consoles is not star trek
cryptic should find a old copy of star fleet command and play it ..then they would know what starship combat pvp style is all about
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
It is skewed like a non presidential year election where the minority all shows up to vote and thus is overrepresented.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."

more than likely depending on the results they'll know approxamatly where the playerbase stands
I doubt they are just going to take the "winner" and say "well that's all we are going to work on then"
