Kdf and kdf/rom question

chalpenchalpen Member Posts: 2,207 Arc User
Can I import my kdf and kdf rom characters to be a federation character?

In other mmo's if a server is under populated they have a way to import characters from the server of less population to a server of higher population.
Is there an option to do that with underpopulated factions?

Simple answer is no. There are races available to KDF and Fed that are not available to the other faction. If they did this, I am certain you would see a bunch of Federation Orions and Gorn.

Hmm. Odd they haven't created something like that.

There actually is a very simply method to change your Romulan into a Starfleet ally. That solution is to make another Romulan character. problem solved.
I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.
My Ship Builds: USS Conqueror, HMS Victorious, HMS Concord, ISS Queen Elizabeth, Black Widow III

All the accolades and c-store and lockbox ships will be gone.
It would be easier to start another mmo.

Considering how much attention the KDF faction enjoys I can certainly understand the OP’s request. Perhaps for KDF Romiis this would work a bit easier and after spending 5000 zen on a Re-Faction token you just end up with 300 unusable duty officer.

As far as strict KDF are concerned they need to look after faction ships and fleetgear. In other words they need to put some work into it for which I got the impression that they don’t want to.

It takes a special level of person to make a guaranteed market unprofitable. Cryptic's insisted for years that KDF players are unprofitable.

That takes a special kind of effort. any hardcore gamer can and will play a fed for a while, KDF players tend to be obsessive, Star Trek, Fanatics first, and hardcore gamers second.

so when you get a situation like the release of the Bortasque, which was a situation where Cryptic couldn't sell KDF ships to KDF players, (Klingon ships to Klingon fans), that's a special kind of situation.

something has to be genuinely sub par to get the reaction the Bort did when it was new.

unfortunately, "Special" people tend to be rather poor at self reflection and rather eager to deflect blame on others.

The Lead Designer on that turkey, was making a Klingon-themed clone of his 'dream ship' and didn't quite grasp the idea that a five-tac-console ship with a big-TRIBBLE main gun wasn't selling to the faction comprised of people who wanted lots of weapon and were, at the time, confined for most of their lower levels to wiping hte map with each other in PvP.

He didn't grasp it, because he did not, and does not, play in that kind of set, where turn rates might matter, and the ability to kill things is directly dependent on the ability to line up a shot on someone who is really rather uninterested in flying straight-and-level into a barrage of heavy fire.

Failure to grasp this simple concept-because of a scorn for players that might want to fight an opponent that doesn't just stand there taking it in a manly fashion, led to a sales-failure and subsequently, to three years of no KDF development whatsoever.

Well I play in a community in STO where 95% of players simply seem to enjoy fed more a bit, including me. One (!) of our fed fleets is tier 5. The only KDF fleet still tier 3. Only two of my eight toons are KDF. A few friends of mine are hardcore KDF which I truly respect. Of course they are very much disappointed about the attention this faction gets. It’s understandable. My two KDF chars are not neglected, both are lvl 60 full reput chars with all m14 gear and some decent builds. Nevertheless I simply feel lonely over there and catch myself only logging to them quickly for doff assignments b4 returning and playing fed. Still glad I have em cuz they played a major role in recent dil event.

What I think cryptic should do in the first place is to stop this totally unnecessary team up problem between Fed and KDF. I think if they do that more fed players would be eager to hop on their kdf toons once in a while and invest more into those characters. I don’t know.. perhaps that would help making this faction more popular and giving Cryptic a money smelling incentive to invest more there.

Think at least same number of command ships for all 3 faction was a fair move but only a small one.

wery nciely said. this game need more kdf love and more players, not less. if i ever create another char , it will be only kdf/kdf aligned. no fed at all.

would not make a bit of sense in this game. You have ships that should not be taken across to the other faction, you have races, you have items (leech... !!!), you have accolades/titles/bridge officers/more ... you have fleet/rep specific items (fleet dis weapons, omega set is the same but for the name I think?) and more.

    Or, ...
yes please, let me start a rom, get my 6 SRO bridge officers, transfer to the kdf for my leech, and then become a fed.... /facepalm
