The T6 Command Ships

I'm not going to post the source here, save getting told off, but I've recently seen the silhouettes for the latest T6 Command Ships, and whilst the Republic Ships truly do look inspiring, I can't say the same for the KDF ships.

Did it not occur to anyone that people might have liked a T6 Galaxy, and a T6 Negh'var? Those two ships alone would have been perfect for your ENG-focused Command Ships. I feel as though an opportunity has been missed with their lack of release. I know it's tough to grasp by silhouettes alone, but the KDF ships (all of them) look like big, bulky bricks with no appeal what-so-ever.

I had high hopes for these ships, as I frequently use my KDF character (and have been waiting for a Negh'Var update for years). What went wrong? :(

My hope is that these Command ships will be like the Intel ships with both a Command commander and lieutenant and we get a T6 Galaxy/D'Deridex/Negh'Var that will be like the Guardian/Pathfinder with just a lieutenant Command.

I am vehemently against Cryptic double-dipping. I was against it with the Tempest, I was against it with the Pathfinder.

If they want to release T6 versions of ships we already own (and have owned since 2010), give us a generous discount, not jack up the price another 500 Zen.

Whilst I would agree with you normally, a new skin is (by default) a new model; they've had to design that new skin from scratch, and it requires further fine tuning to make sure that it fits in with existing pieces. I'd imagine that to be a difficult task when working on two ships.

The Galaxy (as it stands) could potentially mixmatch into (I think) six different ships. If they go and release another one, they'd have to make sure the new build could mix with at least three of those. I think 3000zen for (essentially) a starship trait is costly; why I've been reluctant to buy anything T6 thus far, but if they did the deed on the Galaxy/Negh'var, I might just be tempted. I don't care about starship traits so much; they don't make the game for me. It's more about starship apperance, boff seats and console slots that make the game for me, and that's what I'd be buying into.

I'm okay with double dipping but I wish there was at least a small discount for owning the T5 version. Even a mere 500z would be fine.

I really really want a T6 Command Prometheus. T6 Command Galaxy for engies. Not sure what I'd want T6 Command Sci to be but IMO it should have a single hangar. Pet themes for command ships - get it? MVAM, Saucer Sep, fighters! Command!

Seems that's not what's happening though. Oh well. At least the RR ships look pretty. I don't hate the KDF ones like other seem to. Meh on the Fed ones.

What's the matter with you unobservant people? This is the art subform, not the '***** about t6' subforum.

The really interesting part of the story here is that the new Fed T6 cruiser is clearly inspired by one of the most famous Enterprise-F entries (Fuzzy Modem's) from the competition years ago.

Don't any of you remember? It's pretty obvious. Look it up.

Since I voted for Fuzzy Modem's Enterprise-F, I'm delighted that they're using the essential design.

I'd like more T6 Galaxy, thank you.

All of the upcoming ships are going to be Battle Cruisers.

Who knows, they might release a T6 Galaxy with a Lt Com hybrid seat, like the Pathfinder.

Tier 6 Negh'var couldn't really be considered double dipping, as there never was (despite much speculation) a C-store Negh'var.

As the Fleet variant couldn't possibly be refitted to the Tier 6 Boff slotting, all would remain as is.

On FED side, though, it's problematic. I certainly hate the idea of adding Tier 6 versions of all previous ships, that you have to buy as entirely new ones (with stats generally worse than current Fleet versions of them, nonetheless).
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

In complete agreement. It's sloppy, lazy work on their behalf when they do such things, and a clear deterrent for me to buy sets of anything again.

As to the designs - both outlines and the hires pictures:

1.) We've only seen minimal profiles. So far, meh.
2.) For some: The real value will be in the boff seating, weapons, hull, shield mods etc.
3.) For some: The impulse to buy them will be the ship trait.
4.) The KDF appear to have the design aesthetic of a Lego set. This works well.
5.) The Federation appear to have, well, tails. I'm not overly thrilled.
6.) The Romulan ships looks sexy, although the forward swept wings look like a dragon.

Looking forward to it - all though I'm skeptical I'll buy the sets no matter what the discount.

Nope. Nobody read my post. Why is there even an art forum? This area is not an extension of irrelevant and long discredited T6 complaints.

    Oh chill out.

I certainly see what you're talking about with the Fuzzyprise resemblance, and boy am I happy about it. I just hope these ships have swappable bits, because while each one has a redeeming part, none of them by themselves are especially pretty. Man... the Sci's nacelles and saucer on the Tac's pylons/secondary hull? Mmm... I don't understand why the Eng one got the sharp aggressive saucer, though. That's weird.

I do have one glaring complaint - whoever designed those KDF ships, particularly the Eng one, needs to be sat down and have someone explain to him that just because Klingon building philosophy is described as "utilitarian" doesn't mean their ships should literally look like bricks. The Science one might be salvageable with the Tac's nacelles on it instead of that weird setup it has.

I think the Romulan ships are somewhat losing the Romulan aesthetic but they're pretty good for what they are. The Tac one especially looks fun, but the Sci one looks pretty great too.

I'll almost certainly get the Fed 3-pack, maybe one of the Rom ones, and probably none of the KDF ones. Which is disappointing because Cryptic's history on KDF ship designs was so good, and then these popped up...

They are discussing the aesthetics of the T6 ships which ARE part of the Art department.....as in ship art.
