Anniversary Ship

So, I obtained the anniversary ship and began putting together a setup to level it with so I can get its trait. I knew it wasn't going to be a particularly useful ship, as freebies never are.. but wow, this is just bad.

I mean, at best it can access two ensign and one lt tac power. That's just not enough to work with. I can't build anything remotely viable with that. I can put in 2 tac teams and a FAW 2.. or I can put in a tac team, FAW 1, and FAW 2. Either way, it's not going to stand a chance against something with Beta 1 and two FAW 3's, or a FAW 3 and SS 3.

Yes, I realize that this is some sort of "defensive" ship. Defense is useless. Most "viable" dps setups are almost just as defensive as the most defensive setup you can make anyway. Anyone with half a brain can look at this ship and immediately realize that it's pretty much useless. Why can't they get someone that actually knows what we want in ships and why we want those things to make new ships? It can't be that difficult to create ships that are balanced and viable while still remaining somewhat diverse.

The intel cruiser is a good example. It's not the most tactically heavy of ships, possessing only three tac consoles. It's got a single Lt Comm tac seat (which is the bare minimum to be a decent ship in most cases) and can have access to a second tac team if wanted. That said, the Commander intel/eng hybrid seat allows you the choice of sacrificing higher level engineering powers (which generally aren't that useful) to increase your offensive power with intelligence abilities like SS 3 and OSS 3. Additionally it has a single dps oriented mastery trait. A ship like this presents a very interesting choice, I can tailor it to my desires and while it makes some sacrifices (the loss of a tac console and some tac powers depending on the ship it's compared to) it also makes equal gains other equally useful areas.

Let's build ships like the latter as opposed to the former. It'll make for a much more interesting game.

I don't know I think it is a very good ship. I am able to DPS just fine in it as well as support others. the only thing I would like help with it is the command boffs ability I have concentrate firepower 2 but have trouble figuring out the Lt Cmdr slot

It's not great, but it's very good at tanking and some DPS. Go to r/stobuilds and look up the Samsar builds or look for Galaxy/Galax-X builds as the BoFF layouts are very similar.

Almost definitely an Aux2Bat cruiser, a bit hard to cycle the Tac slots otherwise.

A2B helps, but without Beta 1 or FAW 3 it's kinda weak. It would help a lot if the command powers didn't seem so useless. I can see them being decent situationally, but most don't seem all that great.
