And ya know what makes the EC cap, and account bank issue more irritating? Last I heard Gold's can't buy either while their accounts are subbed. Those two items can only be purchased while an account is in the Silver status.

Sounds like Cryptic... getting a little revenge on those evil unsubbers. lol

Oh, another, I didn't know about the EC cap thread.

I wonder how long until the next one.

I use the game in german and my friend is from poland. i don´t know if he uses a polish version or the english version but we 2 didn´t know about the cap increase for a long time.

I know it now, have known it for a while and bought a cap increase and the account bank. But maybe its not that obvious about the Cap or maybe players think as i did, that it will prevent transactions that exceed 10 Mil.

Its been years since i started playing this game so i don´t know where i could have found the Info about the Cap back then but the German Translation had and has some flaws.

Fact is i didn´t know about it and he didnt know about it.

And let the Cap stay as it is, i am just saying that it basically kills "f2p" because you can´t get far with 10 millions and that

EC Cap is fine as it is and nothing about it needs to be fixed. Players need to take responsibility for learning the rules and game mechanics of the game before they get burned by their own willful ignorance.

Instead of just saying "learn the rules" would it really hurt you soo much if there was a feature that would prevent such an oversight?

Do you know all the rules and regulations, not only in the Game but also in your home country ? Well, you probably do and you gladly obey all of them even the stupidest ones. And you would never expect anyone to help you or to cut you a break if you did something wrong right? And you would never think that some Rules can/need to be changed?

On the plues side... 10 mil EC is pocket change.

Trust me he didn't really loose all that much.

Like others have said... that is the first required unlock for anyone that isn't going to be a super casual player.

to be honest it was also my money. i traded him some items because i had problems with the exchange for weeks. He wanted to sell them for me and he could keep a percentage for his help (also a few millions) and yes, i am a casual player and i can´t spend hundreds of dollars so 10 million EC is not an insane amount but i think carefully about what i need and what i don´t need and where i can save EC.

EDIT: It's a shame the EC limit wasn't permanent with a one month sub, because I've just hit lvl 60 (though I haven't given the quest in/spoken with the Admiral) and I remember reading that if you sub before 60 you'll get the free retrait token, though I don't know if that applies to me because of what I stated above.

I have subbed and dropped it when I had 5 toons; some toons were already max level when I subbed. I am up to 7 toons now with a free slot. I plan on subbing again after I create an 8th toon. This was prior to Delta Rising.

You get a free retrain token when you accept your promotion. I have not spoken to the Admirals to accept my level 55 and level 60 promotions yet and will not do so until I am ready to sub again so that I can get the free retrain tokens.

It is not a bug. It is working as intended. There is a 10 million EC cap per toon unless the Cap Remover is purchased from the C-Store which then raises the cap to 1 billion EC per toon.

The "cap" is the amount you are not able to exceed. Therefore, if you have 9.9 million EC in your account and you did not purchase the Cap Remover, then you sell something for 4 million EC you get 100k EC and the remaining 3.9 million EC is gone forever.

Even though you DID buy the Cap Remover and DID log out of the game. That's my point.

In situations like these, it reminds me of people buying hypos off the exchange for thousands of ECs or, asking where to buy them from!

Only takes a little figuring it out on your own but, I guess people cannot fathom interacting with npc's to see what they do or, looking into descriptions of things to see what information it may provide!

Nah, they would rather have people hold their hands and, lead them to the promised land I suppose!

I buy hypos and repair parts off the exchange all the time... cause moving my avatar all the way over there isn't worth the piddly margin people charge to do the running for me. lol ;)

A few years ago Crustymac sent me a PM in game... "WHY why you, why are you buying these hypos I'm charging to much for." "Cause I'm lazy... thanks" was my response. lmao

Actually one "could" get by on the 10M EC cap now.

    Thanks to the Upgrade system.

You start a new character, are given reward gear and access to basic stuff off the exchange. For 500k or so, you can buy at least 1 Superior Tech, and 1 Tech Booster. Or if you're hoping to rarity boost an item, 1 Research Accelerator instead. Then you just start saving up the Dil.

Once hitting level 10 and have enough Dil, you use that Superior Tech and Tech Booster (or Research Booster) on your choice Mk I or Mk II item (preferably Rare or Very Rare), and upgrade it. That will guarantee a free upgrade up until around Mk VII~VIII depending on whether or not you got lucky and got a higher Rarity before that point.

A second shot of a Superior Tech + 1 Tech Accelerator will likely last you until around Mk IX~X. A third for XI, and 4th for XII.

By the time you can use XII gear, you've already probably built up some Fleet Cred and Dil, and can start investing in Fleet stuff, or start working on Reputation gear.

All without ever having to break 10M EC. The only reason you'd want to is to buy things in bulk or buy ships, costumes, and Rare or better gear you cannot get normally (without dedicated grinding or time spent; such as Mastercraft gear).

    I made the same mistake.

I am homeless, and don't have any money, so I grinded for dilithium, converted that to zen, and bumped that up to 1 billion.

Just like the "you must be at a mailbox" to receive items sent via mail, once these items and/or currency is lost, it's freaking lost.

If ur homeless dont you have other prioritys then playing this game?

Ec cap part your right about. Hence why I made plans before my sub ran out. The account bank gets a little fuzzy because I didn't lose that but I had by that time expanded it by around 20 slots so that could be a factor.
Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

Hence why I said, "Last I heard." Being a lifer I've never been able to confirm for myself what happens to the account bank when a Gold drops to a Silver.

You keep it. I was gold for 10 days due to taking up an alienware offer, this was long before there was an account bank, not long after the game went f2p. I took a break a little while before the account bank came in, when I came back I had the account bank even though I was silver.

That was a suprise to me as I though I would have had to pay for it since it was well after I went back to silver.
