So in the feature episode we see a glimpse of b'elanna Torres, is there any chance we are going to see more of her in the future?

That scene was painful to watch. But I wouldn't mind the "real" B'Elanna to show up at some point, if they can find something meaningful to do for her. :)

Was it actually Roxann Dawson voicing Torres or was it someone else?

It certainly sounded like her, but the audio was most likely lifted from the Voyager episode that the scene was recreating.

was just thinking that. cut and paste from the show. i wonder if cryptic had likeness rights from roxanne herself with that and blessings from CBS as well?

if it isnt roxanne dawson, then its someone who sounded close enough to be passable at it.

She was certainly not hired for the episodes, since otherwise they would have mentioned it.

I am not sure - Foundry authors are not allowed to use the likeness of actors, but I think it's different for Cryptic. They have after all made likenesses for McCoy and Scotty (DeForest Kelley and James Doohan) - of course both actors are dead.

they likely got permission from deforest's wife who i think is still around. and the doohan family may have given permission for it. as for dawson though she doesnt need to be hired because if likeness is still used by voice from the show even if it was 20 years ago?

That was the impression I got as well. When she spoke, it sounded, at least to me, like there were "artifacts" in the audio, that are normally present with copy and pasted audio clips. Not faulting them here though, as it is barely noticeable (hence the confusion in this thread) and it was a good way to get that scene done without having to go through the trouble of hiring Dawson for just a couple lines of dialogue.

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing her, or further Voyager cast members, show up for Delta Rising. The recent anniversary episode certainly opens the possibility that even guest stars might be asked to return. And, despite how most of the fanbase seems to react to her character, I'm still pulling for Kate Mulgrew herself to show up at some point. Maybe for the "finale" of the Delta Rising story arc.

I reckon it was just someone who sounded similar, I know I haven't watched VOY for a while but I don't remember Torres sounding like that.

I think the reason for the audio lift was because it would seem kinda pointless to bring in Ms. Dawson for a three second voice cameo of her saying "Harry" twice. If she were to come to STO, she'd have her own featured episode. Hopefully with Tom Paris.

Plus I'm fairly sure that if they were planning to do more with B'elanna they would have made a character model that actually looked like her.

If I didn't know, I wouldn't have been able to even tell that the character was meant to be half klingon.

My guess was that it was either the original audio loop, or Rhodes (or someone else in Cryptic's VA stable) doing her best to sound like Dawson.

Yeah, they didn't even try with that model. :( I can understand not having the likeness rights, but couldn't they at least give her ridges? That scene marred what was otherwise a top-notch mission.

It took me a second to realise it was supposed to be B'elanna as I agree it sounds great but looks nothing like her.
