What's the point of chasing high scores in the omega molecule mini-game?

Get 300 points, get 1 omega trace.

Get 1200 points, get 1 omega trace.

yeah, it is a bug, it shows only 1...but if you check your inventory you get actually a lot more than 1 if you score high
in essence, the more you score the more stuff you get, but it will always just say you get 1

You go high enough, you might get a sliver or a shard. Max points are 2600 and it's worth it to try going for it.

Everyone gets a trace, but you also have a chance of it being a sliver/shard/fragment instead of a trace, and the higher your score is the better that chance is.

Sadly it seems I lack the coordination to breach 1200 :p

Guess I'll have to settle for traces.

I've scored no less than 1700 on runs where it didn't bug out and kill the minigame early (only played yesterday so far), got one shard and one sliver over 6 or 7 full runs.

If you can get consistently over 1500-1800 you'd be getting Slivers 90% of the time.

Except it's impossible to get since the lag prevents this. You'd be lucky to get under 1000

That's right, two of the three times I've played the mini-game it bugged and auto-completed before I even started, and then still gave me a trace.

    it's not impossible. it's a skill based mini-game.

I consistently get 2600 points and the reward is completely random. Sometimes the rare, every now and then the very rare, most common though the uncommon. Gets really irritating when you score perfect and get the common...

ummm check again. you only get 1. ONE.

Bort has posted that the higher points you get the higher your odds are of getting something other than a trace. But he gave no details or numbers.

I've gotten 1700 points and gotten a trace. 1200 or less and gotten shards and slivers.

I've gotten 0 points with the game ending right after it starts and gotten a trace... 0 points will also advance you in the daily...

they knew ahead of time that this game was buggy, cause why else would they set the point required to 0 to advance the daily quest?

yes skill based but doesnt help if it's laggy as hell or ends abruptly.

dont think i've ever gotten perfecto but I have scored over 2k at times.

average is 1400 thou with sometimes under 1k... or 0 in some cases.

Some of you all hitting that 2600 mark, must being using a bot program, otherwise it isn't humanly feasible IMO.

i am surprised folks cant get over 1k... if you've played any rhythm games this is basically the same thing only moving the catcher up and down using 2 buttons.

I am so going to make a little video, just for you, showing you that you can hit 2600 without using a bot.

The higher the score the better chances for slivers, and their ilk. Theres a random chance your reward will be upgraded to a shard or higher.

1 ea of Blue Red and Yellow = 1 Uncommon Omega Sliver
(I keep calling them silver for some reason)
    3 Uncommon Slivers = 1 Rare Shard
    3 Rare Shards = 1 VR Fragment
3 VR Fragments = 1 Omega Technology Upgrade

My personal best was 1700 - but - I've also received shards at random scores for 600-800.

Kudos to the high and perfect scores.

Capturing every particle would be a pipe dream given the mini-games I've played. In those games the particles come too fast and are staggered too closely across the rows for me to grab each one. A bad game for me is 460 and a good one is 680. On Vulcan I hit 740 and scored usually high, but that is because long streams of particles popped up.

These seem to shortly disable my ability to collect the particles: 1) a popup collect loot message-when someone engages the particle that you are using; and 2) a stage change to increase the particles speed and frequency. The interruption is only for a second or two, but I cannot collect particles during those interruptions and they pass through my catcher.

But again congratulations to those near and hitting the top.

This had been my experience, too.

    The lag doesn't help, either.

    2600 points on Drozana Station.

Gave me a trace though. :( Now if someone can pull this off with just the keyboard, I'd be really impressed. :o

Annoying game. I move the catcher into the right row, particles just float right past/through it instead of being caught, or the game hiccups and the whole row skips forward a few more slots. They ought to come up with something that's based on intellect instead of reflexes.

Using the mouse, I've racked up over 2000 a few times. You get slivers and shards for higher scores.

It would be nice if there was another level that rewarded two Traces though.

Good work. Nice to see it can work.

But that was not like the games I ran today. Every time I would get the point to speed up the particles the game would jump and they would go right through my catcher.

I've gotten 2600 many times. I got enough stuff for 3 omega upgrades already.

I have almost 90 traces. How do you combine them?

A long long time ago I used to play a FPS shooter called: America's Army. This game had a feature where you could aim down the Ironsights of a gun to get extra accuracy.

We used the Ironsights to kill scrubs off at a distance. Every once in a while we'd get a rager who'd call us cheaters, hackers, aimbotters, etc...

One day this one guy got particularly irate and demanded to know which hack we where using. Our answer: Ironsights.

Thus the Ironsights hack was born.

    Also this.
