OK, we know that the upgrade from T5 to T5-U only increases the hull strength, gives access to some Ship Mastery Traits, and grants an extra console. The Bridge Seating remains unchanged.
However, what about those people who pick up Intelligence or Command BOffs, and still fly a T5-U rather than going to a ship designed for their spec? Any of the new powers that BOff can use are grayed out and unusable.
I have an idea for how to fix this.
Just like the Crafting System now lets you craft Training Manuals for your BOffs to learn new abilities and Specializations, it could also be used to craft equipment modules, which could be applied to your ship to turn a particular BOff Slot into a Hybrid BOff Slot. You could do either one module for each spec type (Intel or Command), and is useable on any Slot, or you could have multiple modules, divided by spec type and the rank of BOff Seating they could be applied to (in this latter example, Ensign-level Modules could only work on Ensign-level BOff Stations).
IMO, any uni seat should have that ability from the get go and, if not, than completion of said specialization tract (intel/command), should open that option!

That might work, too - any other ideas or feedback? And Cryptic, think you could give us feedback on how feasible retrofitting T5-U ships with Hybrid BOff seating would actually be?
