Question: Omega Tech Upgrades

Hey, can't see this confirmed anywhere.

Once we spend our month collecting the Omega particle traces will these components and tech upgrades be available in game until used up, or will they magically all disappear on the 26th of Feb?

Just curious.

    I can't remember a single time where STO's devs has intentionally removed some item. Convert items into a new item, but not remove them. So we will still have our traces and components after the event or there will be some way to convert them to something useful. Also, the Omega event will be here next year so even if the Omega projects disappear at the end of the event, they will reappear next year.

    Do we know what these upgrade do? Anything different or special?

    1: What am I supposed to do with the Red traces?

    2: How do I get the Blue traces?
    I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.

    Is there a limit to how many traces you are supposed to be able to scan a day? Often getting 0 points or having the molecule not fill. Don't want to waste my time.

    That is not working. I have visited 3 zones so far, and all I got was Red.

    First of all let me say that the Omega upgrade kit is an absolutely awesome reward. Maybe the best part of the anniversary (aside from secondary deflectors - crafted part gen :))

    I am getting my mission traces to scan. However, if I go to random nodes I get zero points and no reward.

    find a quieter social zone. The busiest zones are the buggiest.

    If you are superhuman and play the game well, you can get better particles:
    Got an uncommon Omega Silver form mini-game results of 1500+
    Got a rare Omega Shard from something much higher (2000+ I think)

    Now, if the bug rate would drop a little...

    you sure about that? my ferengi did 1700 and got a common white trace.

    i could of sworn I've gottn green sliver and blue shards for less than 2k.

    Got a Yellow for around 1000.
    Also got blues and reds for the same amount approx.

    Wonder if its random, but perhaps you get a better roll, the higher you score...
    I've been scoring between 800 -1000 and have recieved red, blue and yellow.

    I ended up with a blue from Andoria actually (which just may be ironically cool actually come to think of it).

    Yellow also comes from Drozana... so to be technical it comes from the Klingon and contested areas.

    Here is the color guide to traces:

    DS9/ESD

    Vulcan/Andoria/New Romulus

    K7/SB39/Drozana

    FYI, getting scores in the high 1000s is easy, it's getting into 2000+ that's a challenge since it requires perfect to almost perfect plays. Anyway, the chance for uncommon and rare shards to drop is random even if you get that many points.

    To answer an earlier question in this thread: Anything you earn during this event is yours forever. They will not vanish when the event is over.

    What are you doing to get these kinds of high scores? I have run it twice so far and only got 550.

    You'd have to not miss any or very few. I'm no guitar hero. I get around 900 and so far only lowest reward. You'll have to jump 2 and 3 bars over when needed to get those kind of scores.

    I got a sliver from 900 points, I think its random, not sure if the chance of a better reward increases as the score increases, that would be logical.

    Are you actually able to skip over a row, or is it arrow keys only?

    for me the arrows work better. by skipping i just mean get from row 1 say to row 4 in one 'beat.'

    Using the mouse you can jump straight to a row. The mouse seems a lot less precise to me, but potentially higher scoring.

    you don't have to do anything to get the trace. just click play and let the timer count down.

    Add the dilithium mine (non-fleet) to the Red list.

    It's not a matter of "have to." It's that I like seeing how high I can drive my score on these things.

    use arrow keys up and down... no different than those music rhythm games. instead of specific keys you need to hit you move the catcher.

    i can not get 100% thou... sometimes it's just not possible cause it is too fast. thou I do not use the mouse to move to catcher.

    too bad this game doesnt track how many you've gotten or how many you miss.

    but this game is bugged as heck... often times I do not get the full 50 seconds... at times it starts and ends a second later giving me only 1 trace.
