How-To: Reinstating Bridge Officers Skills Step-By-Step

To help players, this is a step-by-step to repairing your Bridge Officer skills after the latest mechanics fiddle by Cryptic.

There are two methods depending on what you need to do. Method One deals with your ship's bridge crew as stationed, and Method Two deals with a bridge officer's whole skills.

Method One: Via Ship Stations Tab

1. Open your Status Window (press the "U" key)
2. Click on "Stations" in the top bar. This gives you the stations as slotted in your ship.
3. Click on a boff, by selecting (clicking) a currently-showing skill of that boff. This will then change the name and skills on the right panel of the window to that boff's station and name
4. Tick the "Change Abilities" tickbox
5. Click on a skill in that "Change Abilities" panel. It will bring up the abilities that boff is 'trained' in. You will need to do this for each level of skill you wish to revert to what you have.
6. Click the skill you want that boff to have.

Note, that via this method, you can not change the abilities your boff has that are above the station, so for example if you have a Commander in an "Ensign" station, you can only change the "Ensign" skill. You can change the other skills via Method Two.

Method Two: Via Skills Tab

1. Open your Status Window (press the "U" key).
2. Click on the Bridge Officer tab in the left-hand bar. This brings up the bridge officer's own panel.
3. Click on the "Skills" bar in the top panel. This brings up the bridge officer's total range of skills.
4. You will have two boxes: one of space skills, one of ground skills.
5. Click on the skill you wish to change.
6. You will then see the whole list of skills that may be available for that boff at that level.
7. Available skills are clickable, skills that must be trained are dull with a "learn" button.
8. Click the skill you wish to change to.

Additional Info: If your ship shows Five Slots for a bridge officer, you can reset this to four by going into the Stations Tab, selecting the bugging station, using the "Down" arrow on that station to select a new boff, selecting "No Boff", and once it's back to four skills, re-select the boff you want. It's not great but seems to work.
