What are the best weapon mods??

So after crafting mad over last few days I managed to get two Epic beams with...

[CrtH]x3 [Pen] with the Epic mod [ac\dm]

I asked in zone but was told it was rubbish and a waste of Dil etc....

So my Question is WHAT are the best mods ??????

The best mods for PvE are [CrtD]x3[Pen] or [CrtD]x4.

PvP wants [Acc]x4.

[CrtD] > [Acc] > [CrtH] > [Dam]

Basically what this guy said. Yes, CrtH is considered garbage because of the 1:10 ratio for CrtH:CrtD, and most of the CrtH needed comes from consoles.

That being said, you can still sell epic beams to get some EC. Truth be told, haven't bothered to look at the Exchange in a while.

Can these beams be put into a build due to costs etc and that I've equipped one of them already, so I really don't want to waste them.

Keep in mind that [CrtD]x4 or [CrtD]x3+pen is the current 'flavour of the month'.

While it's unlikely there will be a wholesale change to the math around DPS, this game has undergone a massive change in the past 16 months.

There was a time when plasma was laughed at. Or polaron. Or [Dmg] sucked etc.

What you can guarantee is that things will change. The devs have mentioned numerous times they'd be relooking at [Dmg] and that a 'rebalancing' was originally going to happen with DR but was left out for time constraints.

Like I told you in the Elite STF Channel, those aren't the best beams in the world. They're still usable (I mean cmon, they're epic beams, they will be usable period), but they aren't the best. They're acceptable at best, and I'd use them... until I got better ones.

Yeh and I thank you for your advice... It helped me think about what else to upgrade lol...

For builds and things like that, just put em up in the appropriate sub-forum (ie for fed ships put em up in fed fleetywards, KDF ships in klingon fleetyards, rommie ships in romulan flotilla).

And never. EVER. Ask anything you want a serious answer to in somewhere like ESD. There's a reason a LOT of players have zone chat turned off whenever they're in ESD. People like me go there for a good laugh now and then (or when we have to), but the majority of the discussions there are ludicrous at best, and 90% of the advice you'll get there is worth less than Romulan Ale in game.

Good channels to ask for build advice are the DPS channels, occasionally PESTF, OPvP, and sometimes Star Trek Battles. Even if you aren't looking for PvP advice, there are still players in OPvP who can help with PvE as well.

After three weeks of mad crafting: I have ONE [CrtD]x4 with the Epic mod [acc\dm]. I must have spent 8000Zen on MATs (ironically, picking up a completely undesired Fungus Dreadnaught).

YOU DID THREE DAYS... I still say keep that weapon... you never know when the Devs will change the math slightly, and [CrtH] will suddenly become top dog.

There is no clear answer.

Some guys here in the forum have proven that the [pen] mod stacks on a target. So one [pen] lasts a second or so on one target. If this target get hit again with an [pen] weapon the bonus stacks.

So one can say: [pen] is a very good mod for a DHC which runs with crf or csv. I think they tested it with crf3 and get an extrem high [pen] stack with a ship with 4 front DHC-pen weapons. For a normal common FAW build (95% of all ships right now) [crtd]x4 is the better choice.

But I absolutely disagree with one of the other poster here in the thread. They are not only acceptable, they are the second best choice right now in PVE. [crdt]x4 beams are extremly expensive. In my opinion they are not worth it. Nowadays you can use nearly any weapon-mods to get 50/75 dps. Keyword here is plasmafire-doping.

you actually can get 5 identical mods on a weapon, acc or dmg from epic acc/dmg mod.

so you'd get an accx5 dmg weapon or dmgx5 acc
