I don't PvP but the few times I did, I kinda enjoyed going against premades. Absolutely got our afts handed to us. I would just take it and fight as best as I could and taunt the premade team.
Well, in Diablo 2, they had to implement a system where players did 1/2 as much damage to other players as to monsters, and 1/3 damage to pets of other players. Why? because pretty much all player characters are glass cannons compared to monsters.
I've never played D3 or WoW, but from what I've heard in their pvp either you build for pvp or you lose in pvp.
Never played either of the Ds. However you are correct on PvP build, which is not as relevant as it used to be, or in that games case gear, gem and enchant for it or lose. However that is the point of it PvP is, as said, seperate from PvE and so they have different set ups. This is easy to do as begginner PvP gear is crafted, and as with the gems and enchants purchasable off the AH.
As a a casual PvPer I could hold my own as I earned the points to buy the better PvP stuff, and enjoy it while doing so. Then I can switch into my PvE gear and go out in the world for other things.
This game could learn from that. As it is, it needs to be rebuilt from the foundations up with PvP gear in the R&D schools, as seperate items compared to the current randoms. The PvP mods would be automatic on it and then the third mod would be random, for all PvP gear in all schools, as enexample.
Then they should set up hard counters. For example sci ships would be strong against escorts with the cc they can put out to take away the speed advanatage, and weak against cruisers. Skill would still play apart as would gear but atlease with hard counters their would be some level of fairness.
