Zero One Doff

I got a duty officer from a fleet reinforcement pack called Zero One. It's an Astrometrics Scientist doff that has the following specialization:

"This Duty Officer gives you a 60% chance to gain an additional R&D materials when scanning."

Does anyone know if that ability is worth using?

I would say no.

You can only scan for R&D materials in the main story missions and daily missions (from the Available tab). If you are not going to play those mission much and you are not desperate for every single R&D material you can scan for, then it is not worth using.
