R&D: Level 15

Crafting at Level 15 requires the use of a specialized duty officer i.e. Gumarre. What is the process for requisitioning Duty Officers for Level 15 R & D projects.

Basically

1) buy a duty officer pack from the c-store and hope they drop
2) open lock boxes and hope they drop
3) do the r&d assistance doff project and hope they drop
4) look on the exchange

The only time you are guaranteed one is the exchange.

BTW, the Aegis ones are currently BoP. so you can't buy on exchange.

The Lvl 15 stuff is not worth crafting it yourself cause all in all it's way too expensive. The need a whole lot of VR mats and VR components (<- which require dil to produce) and dil and the special doffs which go for about 20 million each.

Buy the gear from the exchange instead of the doffs. Stuff like the TR-116 , egni & sci consoles are flooding the market and are relatively cheap.

For crafting Aegis items you either need Gumarre, a ferengi research lab scientist doff that you got when you maxed out the old crafting system or from the R&D doff mission (Academy/fleet star base ->personnel officer->R&D req).

Or, there is another Aegis doff from the Xindi-Lockbox I believe (Prof. something). He is bound though and cannot be found on the exchange.

For other lvl 15 items:

Xindi-Doffs from the Xindi box (there are older Xindi-Doffs, too, so don't mix up). Seach for "Xindi duty officer info". They are quite expensive.

There are a couple of white doffs from the above mentioned R&D req mission. There is a list somewhere. You can get those from the exchange, too.

As said, it is not worth it to craft yourself. It is too much of a gamble and the investment is often higher than the outcome. Better buy craft gear from the exchange with the mods you want.

Welcome to another installment of half-completed things Cryptic did.

They released S9.5 with a buggy as heck crafting system (and crafted ground weapons STILL have none of the new mods). Seems they never had the time to create and add more R&D doffs (green/blue/purple) to the normal avenues of obtaining doffs (Asylums, exchange prisioner, cultural exchanges, etc.). So once you get to level 15, you're going to have to either get lucky or pay for those doffs.
