Well I finnally got the Carrier yesterday, kind of close to the wire I know, and she's a great ship.
She turns way better then I expect it to, I have 6 science powers, 4 enigeering powers (I use the universal and Intel for enigeering, and 3 tac abilities.
Dispite good shields and hull I find she doesn't have the survivalablity of my Fleet Corair, but she can launch two sets of fighters my elite interceptors and elite slavers and between them and the Benethan I can pretty much let my fighters rip everyone apart in Agala without even entering combat, I just spam fighters, make sure the Benethans have repair drones and fire off APB and Fire on my mark every once in awhile and enemies just get stredded. The Malon are the closest to a challenge. Techniquely I could do this before with my fleet corsair, but two hangars make it more effient.
I will still use my Fleet Corair T-U is my primary, but the Breen Carrier is absolutely my number 2.
It's my first carrier, after mostly flying escorts / raptors, and I think it's a great ship. It was well worth the 96 ice races I did this winter (3 ships, 8 alts).
I'm using the cheap EC frigates (47K EC each) and polaron beams for my Engineer, rom plasma for my tac captain.
Compared to the Intel escort and cruiser they were flying it's more tanky, and the frigates take some heat away from my own ship.
So far I've just used it for the Tholain and Borg alerts, and the Dyson and Undine battlezones (still earning those reps). The ship has performed very well.
STO has been getting a lot of hate here in the forums, and not enough praise for when they get things right. So:
Thanks! Aside from the discount bug, this was a great xmas gift to the players and I've had a lot of fun flying mine.
I have an engineer flying the Carrier and I love it!
I rarely get whacked, even when I suddenly find that, whilst I have gone off during the sector space Red Alert to get <that> cube n spheres, everyone else went off to get another. Having Elite Fleet Adaptive shielding, the proper consoles (a few lockbox epics, a few non, a lot of elite fleet), Feedback Pulse II and my ability to toss in a Miracle Worker III when need be in addition to the relatively low cd to launch the pets and the cryro-engine effect to lower ALL cool downs how can you not love this ship?
Granted, I wish I had some customization options, both interior and exterior, but still.
I am currently levelling a sci officer who also has this ship in their bank I cant wait to see what they can do with it.
I'm not saying squishy, just not as Tanky as my Fleet Corsair, but I forgot a few pieces of equiptment so that might be part of it.
Its a great ship. I still feel like I'm cheating on my Fleet Corsair with it, but man its a nice ship and its the best looking of the Breen Ships by a ciuntry mile IMO.'

If you pop up to orbit around Qo'noS, what are you looking at as far as Hull/Shield between the two ships?
And what did you do as far as going from the F.Corsair's...
X, X
...to the Sarr Theln's...
X, X, X O, O X, X, X, X
...also how much use were you making of the Flight-Deck Cruiser's Attract Fire and Shield Frequency Modulation Cruiser Commands...
...and did you T4 the Starship Mastery of both?
Just curious there...don't have a Fleet Corsair (I always wanted a Fleet Marauder instead) to "feel" out the comparison.
With my experience of it, I can see why they nerfed the pets recently. The normal pets that came with it die quickly. However, the advanced pets are much better than the advanced pets for the aquatic carrier. If not for the Nerf, the pets from the aquatic carrier would blow these away.
However, my aquatic has the better turn rate, and better boff skills to make up for the weaker pets. So it still wins out over the T6 carrier in my opinion. Still, for a ship that didn't require Zen, or gambling to get, it is a good ship. And with the discount for getting them, I have one on every character, just in case I ever decide to fly it again, or on another character.
I do find that the Warship is still a better of the three Breen ships. It is also a good ship for science characters, and tanks really well too. I have been flying it on characters that don't have the aquatic carrier.
Leader of Elite Guardian Academy.Would you like to learn how to run a fleet? Would you like to know how to do ship builds (true budget as well as high end)? The join the Academy today!
The character I'm running it on was perfectly content in their Tactical ADSD, but I instantly knew it was an upgrade for them when I saw it; the synergy and potential were just too tasty to pass up. It's an absolutely nasty 'knife-fighter' that tears up everything close to it despite looking like an 'amateurish' build that shouldn't. This thing has been seriously making me reconsider several parts of the current meta-game over in the past couple days.
(Also, it wasn't intentional, the ship was actually set up and built it before the new year, but I took it to Tribble and.. I don't think I could have made a ship more suited for Command Spec synergy if I tried.)
If you're looking for an upgrade from your Corsair, the Voth Bastion is the ship you're looking for. I, too, used to fly my beloved Corsair, but I'm afraid I can never go back to it now that I have the awesomeness that is the Bastion. I doubt even a T6 Orion Warbarge would get me to put it into drydock, despite how long I've wanted one.
