This game's gotten pretty dull and I'm only logging in to grind mats until some new content comes out. I doubt the new ship will be anything worth grinding for. Cryptic doesn't even know which end of a Benthan cruiser is the front.
? so far the free and exchange buyable ships have been excellent, orientation of the graphic aside. The breen carrier is a sweet sci ship, and the #1 choice of roms and kdf who have nothing else at t6 and little enough at t5. The benthan is a great addition to rom and kdf as well, for those wanting something outside the 2 cstore ships or for those that have EC but not dil/zen.
Ships in DR have so far been a cut above the norm, and that is not just due to intel seats, but general design. I fully expect the freebie to be rather nice.

what lie? That there are many decent t6 ships? That is an opinion. Remember the third grade when you did the fact or opinion things? Facts can be wrong -- a lie. Opinions can't be. If you dislike 100% of the ships, maybe this is the wrong game for you.

I started playing yesterday. Really enjoying my time so far. Im a casual player and i play couple of hours a night. My question is about hown long does it take for this game to get boring? You know like you are in the endgame and seen and done it all? Any ideas? I would appriciate est
It depends on what you like doing. I have been here since year 2 of STO and I still like it.. You can craft and reply your fav episodes. or try your hardest to earn over 75 million credits for a ship off the exchange. unless your rich enough to get the lobi from unlocking thousands of boxes lol... Like I said it depends on what you like doing. It gets a bit boring at times but I still Enjoy it
I think the 5th Anniversary begins at the end of January or beginning of February. So... about 3 or 4 weeks from now.
=========================================
The Breen Carrier is not bad. It is a welcomed addition for my Rom science toon since there is a lack of science ships for Romulans. I also got it for my KDF science toon as well, but that toon is currently flying the B'Rel Retrofit so that toon may or may not fly the carrier. I am not going to bother getting the carrier for my Fed science toon since the Fed has plenty of science ships to choose from. Also not bothering with the carrier for any engineering or tactical toons for all factions.
=========================================
As for how long it takes for the game to get boring...
That depends on the player and his / her objectives. I would say that getting to level 50 is a breeze and you can get there by simply doing the main story missions. A lot of those missions are fun (varies by players) and you will get to level 50 long before completing all the missions. After level 50 advancing up to the next level will start to take longer because of the XP you need. I think at level 55 leveling up starts to become a drag.
Once you have completed all the main story missions endgame is a continuous grind for better gear. It is optional of course, but if you are the type of player who wants to get the best possible gear, then will be grinding the various reputations get your gear. The normal queued PvE missions (available starting at level 44) can be done with gear that the main story missions can provide or are relatively inexpensive on the Exchange. Advanced queued PvE missions needs at least rare (blue) MK XII because going from normal to advanced is a pretty big step in difficulty. Elite missions are well... elite. You should have at least very rare (purple) Mk XIV gear for that.
If you are not really into grinding, then endgame is not for you. Content does get added to the game over time, but you need to wait. Season 10 is coming within 2 months and season 10.5 will be during the summer. Delta Rising is an expansion, not a season. The next expansion won't be for perhaps a least another 2 years.
Once you complete all the missions for your current toon you can always create a toon a in different faction. In the beginning the three factions have unique missions mixed in with some missions that are cross faction (meaning same missions for all factions). However, towards the end all factions will have the same missions.

boring depends on the person. Ive seen people claim to be bored when they have literally a year's worth of things left to do -- and not talking just repeating things to earn gear, but folks that have never set foot in a foundry, skipped entire story arcs, only ever played 1 captain type or one faction or flown just a couple of ships. Some people have the attention span of a gnat, and others can find things to do for decades on end.
Here is estimate #1 --- my first character took about 4 months to reach max level (50, back in the day) and earn the gear I wanted to have, buy one ship, and generally give the game the standard "once over, seen most of it" workout. With DR, that probably goes up to 5 months, maybe 6, since earning gear is tougher now.
Estimate #2 --- I started a new character, reached 60, maxed all reps, earned the gear and ship I wanted, and finished it (not including spec-points but everything else) in about 1.5 months. But I knew the story, and the game mechanics, and I have resources to aid my new toon (double speed rep gain, money and dil, crafting support, and more).
So you could see pretty much everything rather quickly, probably 2-3 months tops, if you really hit it hard (8 hour days?) and studied the game guides (here and online) and had a supply of dil and money (in your case, that means sinking cash into the game since you wont have time to earn that much in that time frame). A more realistic pace, you could spend 1/2 to 1 year to see it all (including gearing out one t6 ship to at least "rep and fleet gear" quality with upgrades).
IMHO you need at least 4 or 5 characters all raised to max level and geared out to have "seen it all". The three captain classes play very differently. The ships available to each faction vary a lot. The first story arcs are different. A lot of things are the same but swapping ship types or captain types can be a whole different experience. Ground combat is an often less explored but large part of the game, and there again, all 3 classes play very differently on the ground too.
Well, you know that an Anniversary is a fixed date...eh?
Well, you know that Events tend to start on a Thursday...right?
Well, you know what a Calendar is...yeah?
I've been playing pretty much daily since day one and have yet to be bored.
There have been times where Real Life has interrupted my being able to play daily, but it was never because I was bored with the game.

Last year's event was from January 30th to February 27th, 2014. It's safe to assume that this year's event won't be far off.
Bentan cruiser flies like a dream and Breen Carrier is also a pleasure to fly. If there is a lie in that statement i am afraid it only exists in your imagination.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Clearly, the OP is bored because he/she doesn't care about what Cryptic introduced with the long XP grind, or anything really introduced as of Delta Rising. That's why he/she created this thread.
As far as answering your question OP, the anniversary is held around the same time every year, somewhere between January 30th to February 2nd (the actual anniversary date). The 3rd and 4th anniversary were started on the weekend closest to the actual anniversary due to them falling on the weekend. It could happen this way again since the 2nd is a Monday this year.
I'm a little fed up with people constantly bashing the game - yes, that's refering to the op. It is very easy to verify player numbers via steam etc. and despite the naysayers, the game is actually doing okay.
As for the ships, well, i enjoyed every single one i have tried so far and am looking forward to what they will show during the anniversary.
As a matter of fact, i do like DR. Most of the things i could whine over have been there before the expansion and the only thing the expansion added that i think was a design mistake, is the addition of elite queues. Specializations, upgrading etc - i'm okay with all of that.
So i'm looking forward to the anniversary - which will probably started at the end of the month!

Well, you might have enough XP to run for 60 without grinding, thanks for not having completed the storyline a long time ago.
So, I'd say it will start to be boring past lvl60. Unless you enjoy being a hamster in a wheel, and grinding to unlock more grind.
Also, it might get boring when you realize the entire endgame content is about DPS, and as a newcomer you'll have about 5 time less DPS than a vets who knows what items and gear to use.
And no, no skill. Just powercreep and what to use. Player skill will allow to reach up to 10times what a newcomer might do.
But then, some people are OK with that. So you might enjoy it.

We are not looking at the same steamcharts then, unless you look it upside down.
Doing OK, yes probably. Growing, certainly not.

The playerbase is not dwindling. That is what i referred to and my statement is correct. Your reference to "growing" implies that you are looking at some other post, not by me. Most likely the official news entry, but that is speculation on my part. If you disagree with the news post, please, bring your numbers, post your charts - don't just imply stuff.
