I've read several discussions and watched a few video's on NWS runs. I was wondering has anyone done this with an all Torpedo/Mine build??
I was thinking it over myself and was thinking on a 5 person team---2 Transphasic builds, 2 Plasma builds and 1 Torp Reputation build (as kind of a floater).
For Plasma build the front would be Hyper Plasma, Omega, and a regular Plasma. Back would be another plasma (for rear arc coverage) Plasma Mine and the mission reward cloaked mine.
For Transphasic Breen Cluster and Rapid reloads all from mission rewards. Back end would be another Rapid Transphasic, Transphasic Mine and the mission reward cloaked mine.
Cloaked Mines with DP Beta seem to work well to really slow down opponents which is why I put it there.
Tac BOFFS would stay similar but would have a heavy Torp Spread/High Yield instead of the beam/cannon one's. Also have DP Beta.
Add Spatial Charge Launcher for extra kick.
Have the teams pair off into 2 teams of 1 Transphasic 1 Plasma. One person swoops into the spawn point hits DP Beta and drops the mines. 2nd person at the regular position hits a grav well fires off the torps...and then you are done.
Only problem with this is the firing rate of the torps and if you get to the rounds with multiple spawn points. I would think you would want a sci heavy build and use the extra BOFFS help with the DPS side.
Another note is High Yield Plasma is extremely slow and can get shot down so I would think you would want to lean more on the Torp Spread side for your BOFFs.
I have been testing this out in the public PVE and can handle a side but it is difficult testing by yourself dropping the mines at the spawn point then flying back around and attacking.
Anyway I thought I would post this and get people's thoughts on it. Enjoy
Sure, I primarly run it has a torpboat these days. I can hold East without a problem, and thus it can hold every side with ease: www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/?build=partgendauntless_4677, works also with scryer, pathfinder, nova etc., you just have to give up APB.
Fun thing is that the torps are either directly or indirectly (secondary effect) bypass shields, thus elimating enemies quite fast.
Playstyle however is like a DHC-Ship: Stay between the transport and the waves, and watch the fireworks.

I've pugged NWS in torp boats (mixed torp boats), not in organized matches though. The PEP (Particle Emission Plasma) torpedo has a nice 6 sec hold on it. If you can knock shields down then both HY versions of the Bio-Molecular and Neutronic Torps will deliver hull cracking hits. Perhaps a flow cap build Dyson Destroyer in Sci mode with near all Secondary Deflector powers can help transfer shields.
An added bonus can be that the aft torpedoes can fire at the opposite position's targets if they come into range.
Fore: PEP (plasma and slight hold) and Gravimeteric torps.
On a side note: I've actually be thinking about playing around with a mine-layer ship given in the new Vaadwar Torpedo. I'd actually like to see other torpedo mine deployment systems in the game.

The torpedo boat community has really gotten some great tools over the last few seasons.
Mines seem to be the most underused weapon in this game, which is sad. Would like to see an adjustment to global cool down on their use.
